We very much enjoyed out one night visit to McKenzies Country Hotel on our journey from Christchurch to Queensland. It is not a luxury hotel but the room was large, the beds were comfortable and the bathroom was large with a nice shower. There is a nice bar area with fireplace where you can access wifi for free. The dining...

Large comfortable room, but no WiFi in the rooms. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Caters to several coach tours with buffet meals to suit. We opted for the a la carte dinner which was very good.

Stayed 1 night as a cheaper alternative to staying at Mount Cook. Nothing fancy, older style, but as it is the only big hotel in Twizel, it is very popular with tour groups. 3 buses arrived the night we stayed, and so it got crowded in the narrow halls as people walked to their rooms. Wifi is free, but only...

Quite large spacious rooms with nice views. Some great staff thanks Brianna and Joanna. However we were disappointed with our dinner off the a la carte menu, We waited over an hour for our food and the rib eye steak when it finally arrived bore no resemblance this cut and was inedible. While the restaurant staff were very helpful there...

Fine for a stop over night as part of a tour. Large bedroom on the ground floor with a balcony( no furniture) overlooking grass and another wing of the hotel. Bedroom was clean and comfortable, bathroom ok but all really needed upgrading. Staff helpful. Wfi near front desk and in foyer only. Should be able to stargaze here - no...

nice room and service. especially the back yard, it is nice view from balcony. about 200 rooms are available. nearby the centre of the town, but it's very quiet. if I have chance to visit tekapo, I'd like to live in the hotel again.

The hotel is quite comfortable with competent and friendly staff. The buffet breakfast is reasonable with the restaurant staff being particularly efficient. One slight negative related to free wifi only being available in the the lobby/bar area. Admittedly it was available quite cheaply ($5 for 24 hours) for access elsewhere but, in these modern times, free connectivity should be a...

Large & friendly 2-story hotel geared to tour buses. We asked for a quiet room and got a big room overlooking a wonderfully quiet grounds - you can sleep with the room's patio doors wide open if you want (in mid-March). WiFi in the lobby but not in the rooms, wa-wa (it's 2016 folks). Excellent food right across the street...

While this is an older hotel that is in the process of remodeling, the value was good and the staff was professional and very helpful with information for the area. My room was very clean, had a fridge, shower/tub, older but comfortable chairs and a deck. The deck looked out onto a courtyard and I quite enjoyed the star show....

Huge room with a huge balcony. Very good sleep quality. Breakfast was lovely and plentiful. Location for Mount Cook is ideal. Two double beds in the room means plenty of room. Twizel itself is a small town.
