Detailed Reviews
We had some highs and some lows at this quaint little resort. It is very quiet and lovely and if you walk down the beach, it's virtually untouched at the end. We had our best massages here as well. The Bure was spacious and comfortable and a little rustic, but lovely.
We kayaked over to another island and it was beautiful and had untouched beach as well. We also did a snorkel trip (just ok) and went coral fishing (so much fun - thank you Solo)!
Sadly, we did not find the food to be one of their strong points. The real let down for us was that the head waiter, the gentleman in all of the pictures who looks the most happy and somewhat flamboyant, gave us the cold shoulder every time we came to the restaurant for a meal. He actually made us feel unwelcome despite our best efforts to win his favor and chat him up a bit. After a few days we just gave up and dreaded seeing him at every meal. It was unlike anything I had ever encountered.
In contrast, everyone else we encountered was fantastic so I cannot fault the resort, but it did impact our time there.
It was a unique experience being on this beautiful little island and we are glad we experienced it. The staff sang the most beautiful version of the farewell song we heard in our time in Fiji.

Response from Navutu S, General Manager at Navutu Stars Resort
Responded Feb 7, 2020
Bula bula and thank you for all your lovely words. The farewell song is so incredibly moving isn't it - and it comes from the heart which is what makes it so powerful! So often we have guests crying when they leave as they feel quite overwhelmed. Happy to hear too that you had such a unique experience and found the island so beautiful and the staff so fantastic. I am puzzled about your comments about our waiter which seem very personal in nature – it does seem odd that you 'dreaded' coming to the restaurant because he wasn’t friendly enough. I see that you stayed with us way back in July, which is a long time ago – way too long ago for us to find out why this may be so, but I am guessing he found your attempts to ‘chat him up’ as you say, a little intrusive. Or perhaps he was just busy doing his job and didn’t have time to single you out for specific attention – July is certainly our busiest month at the resort. Regardless, thank you again for all your kind words and your sentiment about the fantastic staff, moving farewell song and overall unique experience of being on our beautiful little island. We wish you many more happy holiday adventures.

We arrived at Navutu Stars by helicopter and left the same way. We had a spectacular view over the islands and coral reefs on the way. If you can, transferring by seaplane or helicopter is fantastic and gives you more time at the resort. We upgraded to a Beachfront Bure, which was spacious and beautiful and had welcoming messages written in shells and flowers. The view from the bed over the verandah through the trees to the sand and the sea was to die for. The staff we dealt with on a daily basis were fantastic. They were warm, friendly and helpful and could not do enough for us.
We were on a half board plan which included an evening cocktail. Breakfast included freshly baked muffins, cereal and fruit, and cooked options were also offered. We occasionally ate lunch but it was quite expensive and the quality was variable. Examples of lunch were steak sandwich and chips for $54 and fish and chips for $37. Dinners ranged from good to exceptional. We had chilli crab one night, the crab was cooked to perfection and was the best crab we've ever eaten. Some of the desserts were also wonderful. Meeting at the bar before dinner was a great experience. The guests would gather and chat over a drink and nibbles and Pene, the barman, was a cocktail wizz. A list of activities for the next day would appear on the board in the afternoon, some FOC and some paid. Unfortunately we picked the wrong person to ask about fishing and some of the snorkeling activities. When we spoke to Dan, the activities manager, he recommended snorkeling at the Blue Lagoon, a paid activity. We explained that we just wanted to go to good snorkeling spots, but when we arrived there we found that the reef was completely dead and there were not many fish. We were a bit annoyed that we had quite a long boat ride in a 7 person dinghy getting soaked by seaspray, having no shelter from the sun and then not having a good snorkeling experience. We were surprised that a luxury resort like Navutu would not have a better boat for travelling to different snorkeling and fishing spots, especially those 45 minutes away. There was not even a ladder or step on the boat so snorkelers could get back on board.
Dan did not organise any good fishing trips for our friend Greg, despite our repeated requests and our finding out that other people managed to go fishing repeatedly with a guide. Nor did Dan make an effort to have Greg included. All of this tarnished his and our enjoyment of the trip.
Overall, we had a lovely time and were sorry to leave.

Sun, sand, snorkelling, excellent food and cocktails, amazing sunsets and some of the nicest and friendliest people that you’ll ever hope to meet is how I will remember my time at Navutu Stars resort. After a very special welcome from the staff we were shown to our accommodation (travelling as a family of four we had the two-bedroom bure) which was beautiful with a lovely view of the water. This is a small boutique resort so it gives you a much more personalised experience than what you will receive at larger resorts.
The food is excellent (with very decent portions) – continental breakfast is provided and then you have the option of paying for al a carte dining or half board (dinner only) or full board (all meals). The resort was very obliging in sending sample menus and pricing to me ahead of time so we could choose the option right for us. Dinner is served from around 7pm onwards but delicious cocktails are served at the adjacent bar before that – which also gives you the opportunity to chat to the other guests and staff. You can also request private dining for a more romantic experience.
Optional activities for the next day are written on a blackboard, which usually includes snorkelling or another expedition in the morning and then another activity in the afternoon. Expect to pay approximately Fj$60-80 for most diving trips (although some are free) and the afternoon activities (eg a hike, coconut demonstration, natural Fijian medicine walk) are usually free of charge. There are also options for private outings such as a picnic on one of the nearby secluded beaches and fishing. The snorkelling is fantastic – the staff are from the surrounding villages and are extremely knowledgeable. We thought the boat trips across the water to the dive sites were a big part of the fun as well! You also get plenty of downtime (I spent a lot of time on the hammock on the beach outside my bure), walks along the beach and there are kayaks and SUPs and a spa that offers very relaxing massages, amongst other treatments. There are no TVs in the bures but with so many activity options you don’t need one! Don’t be surprised if you are escorted on some of your outings by the very cute resort dog, Dolly, although she can sometimes make the kayaking and paddleboarding a bit of a challenge!
An absolute highlight for us was an escorted trip to Yaqeta village, the only village on the island and a short walk from the resort. It was fantastic to tour the classrooms of the school and we also had the opportunity to buy some souvenirs from some of the local ladies in the knowledge that our money was going directly to the community.
The staff sing a farewell song to you before you leave the island and you carry that away with you as well as all the fabulous memories that you have made. I cannot recommend this very special place highly enough and I sincerely hope that I will make it back there again sometime soon. Vinaka to one and all! xx

I have been traveling around Fiji and stayed at some amazing resorts so I am not a winging traveler that complain all the time but what this resort did to me was utterly unacceptable.
I was due to stay at this resort from the 27-31 Dec 2019. I booked this hotel way in advance atleast two month earlier. As such I was able to get a decent rate and was looking forward. A week before my trip commenced I got an email from them saying that they had overbooked and that they would put me up in a different resort on a different Island. They gave no further information..
The resort they offered was Nanuya resort which both in terms of stars and cost is much inferior to this hotel. I was staying at Nanuya three night before Navutu so I told them that this was unacceptable. They did not reply. I sent them a reminder email they continued to ignore.
Finally I had to resort to forcing them to give me a refund through booking.com and I had to find an alternative place to stay. Finding a resort 2 weeks before xmass is incredibly expensive and difficult. We ended up paying way more than what we should have to stay at Paradise Cove (which is an amazing resort by the way).
So here is the scam. Navutu sold their rooms to customers and forced them to pay a deposit months in advance. They then did not take themselves off the websites and increased their price. People booked the same rooms that I booked at a much higher cost close. Navutu then did the math and decided that they will drop all the customers that paid a lower rate so they can make more profit. They sent that email, did not respond and waited for stressed out passengers to for a cancellation just so they have a place to stay and then they pocketed the profit. This in my book qualifies as a scam. If they had overbooked, morally they should have cancelled the rooms for customers that booked later on. When I booked there was ample vacancy so I'm sure I was first in line.
My advice is not risk ruining your holiday and getting ripped off like we did and staying away from these guys.

Response from Navutu S, Owner at Navutu Stars Resort
Responded Mar 2, 2020
Bula bula We are really sorry that you missed the Navutu experience due to a glitch in the reservations system. We have actually just changed our service provider in an effort to make sure something like this never happens again. We felt really sad that this happened, and even more sad to read your horrible allegations here which are completely unfounded, not to mention absolutely false. The moment we discovered the overbooking we offered you a choice of two alternate nearby resorts, but you advised that you did not want either of these, so we were liasing with Paradise Cove to host you (at our expense ,obviously as it was our error,) when we received a notification from booking.com that you had cancelled your booking. We immediately refunded you. There was no force, no rip off, no scam. You have every right to be upset about the booking mistake, it must have been disappointing - we understand - but we are truly baffled at how you made the leap from a system error, to accusing us of 'fraud' - thats a lot of really negative assumptions to make and nasty things to accuse us of, it also shows your lack of knowledge of how hotel booking systems work. We are a small, sustainable and much loved family-owned resort operating in a remote location and have strong ties to the local community and are dedicated to having a positive impact on our social and natural environment. Guests absolutely love our resort and have really meaningful, unforgettable holiday experiences with us. As you will see here on tripadvisor, we are consistently ranked with 5 stars and constantly described as paradise on earth, and the destination of a lifetime . Are we perfect? No! Do we own our occasional mistakes? Yes indeed! Do we deserve to be slammed with these insults? Absolutely not! Again we are truly sorry that our system glitch caused you disappointment it is unacceptable to us and we can reassure you that the problem has been rectified. We would be happy to discuss any of this further with you through direct conversation - you may use our reservations email - just as we were happy to consult with you directly at the time of the issue, but you cancelled the booking before we had the chance to resolve things to your (and our) satisfaction. We sincerely hope that you managed to enjoy the rest of your stay in Fiji.

My wife and I stayed in the grand bure at Navutu stars for 6 nights over the new year and I have to say that every moment was amazing.
When we arrived they greeted us with smiles and Fijian compassion.
Dan is very knowledgeable and a great guy who answers all questions.
Our room was exceptionally clean and serviced twice a day.
The food is excellent and the staff are great, treat them as you would like to be treated, the price of the food is based on luxury and location.
We had daily activities available to us which some were free and others had a service fee.
The location is amazing in the Yasawa islands, it feels like you are in paradise and all amenities were clean.
The staff are helpful and will assist you at all times.

We loved our time here. The second we stepped off the boat we were greeted with a delicious fresh coconut water, and made to feel so welcome.
We stayed in grand Bure 1, and it was the most breathtaking accommodation I’ve ever seen. Total private paradise; with amazing views.
The staff are so friendly and entertaining, and we fell in love with the resort dog Dolly.
Daily cocktails are incredible, and the food - particularly the fish - is very tasty and big portions.
The team also kindly helped us to arrange a dive trip at a neighbouring resort.
The trip to the island village was so lovely
We hope to return one day!

Would not return and wish we never came.
One star for the few staff members who were cordial and kind and for the free-running island dogs that were better hosts than anyone working at the resort.
Navutu Stars is a rundown resort in bad need of updating in both its facility and staff - both of which may have been hospitible at a time, but have lost their lustre and ability to support guests paying alot of money to stay ($800CAD/night).
Because the huts are not air conditined, open windows will leave the room hot, damp and even wet. All our clothes were beyond wearing and musty. Beds were damp and uncomfortable. Our fridge leaked all over the floor, to add to the moisture.
The food is low grade and insanely priced. For $150 ($90CAD) per person, per day, breakfast and dinner are offered. Lunch is a seperate charge. Keep in mind, they advertise breakfast as included, though you come to find out that is only a continental one, once you arrive. Paid breakfast is a basic bacon, eggs, pastries and fruit. Dinner is low quality meats, fish or a poorly made pasta choice. For an added charge ($25 FJD), you can have salad or veg with dinner. Lunch offers a seperate pay menu where, for example, you can pay $55 FJD ($33CAD) for a sandwich with two slices of plain white bread, a few grams of low quality meat and eight french fries (I counted because I could). Lunch resembles something made in a highschool cafeteria, or worse.
Alcoholic drinks are insanely priced, poorly made and made by bartenders who are annoyed with any order placed.
The staff, for the most part is friendly to say hello to, but once a request is made for a towel, water, a drink from the bar, etc., their demeanor changes and you become annoying to them. But they'd be happy to sell you excursion after excursion at inflated, unfair prices.
The resort owner sits in view of all guests and refuses to greet, smile or even acknowledge your presence. It sets a foul mood for the entire visit. At $800 CAD per night (not including food or drink) a simple smile or "hello" goes far. You can see where the staff get their training.
The beach is very small and the hut access to the water is limited and rocky making it near impossible to access the water from your room. It may be a water front hut, but not water front access unless you enjoy destroying your feet on the inhospitable rocks.
Wifi is shoddy and unreliable.
Overall, our two day stay was two days too long. If not for the island dogs, this would have been a one star review.
With the many choices available in the Yasewa islands, some of which we stayed at, at similar and sometimes cheaper costs, there is no reason to stay at or return to the Navu-two Stars resort.
There are 5 star resorts to choose from at comparable prices.

If I would describe Navutu Stars Resort, I would say, it is like coming back to my mother’s hometown. I come from the Philippines and I live in Adelaide now with my beloved partner. To say the least, the resort was very relaxing and full of wonders. The food and cocktails deserve Michelin stars and the people were very friendly and wonderful as they made so much effort to make us feel like royalties. My partner and I were pampered to the core. Daily massages with Aggy, Anna and/or Grace. The housekeeper, Taru, made sure our cabin was impeccably clean and tidy twice a day, made sure we had daily supply of Fiji water, clean towels, mosquito repellent coil and a bowl of clean water at the entrance of our cabin to wash off the sand from our feet, and she’s done laundry and ironing for us, as well. Our cabin was spacious enough to have a dance floor in it. The ceiling that’s made of mahogany wood and woven palm leaves was stunning! Our daily pre-dinner cocktails were so much fun as we met and enjoyed chatting to their lovely staff and guests. The bartender, Penne’s cocktail mix and coconut nibbles were to die for. Thanks to Penne, I also enjoyed my freshly picked coconut/coconut water with my daily cocktails/mocktails. Also, the dog, Dolly, was the friendliest and most sociable dog I’ve ever seen. We also had a cava ceremony and dinner party on Thursday night and the children from the village visited on Sunday, sang to us and played with us. My partner and I had a wonderful relaxing time in Navutu Stars and definitely, we will be going back. I’ve attached some of the photos I’ve taken during our stay there. These photos were taken in between 04/09/2022~12/09/2022.

This was a wonderful place to stay. The boat trip on the Yasawa Flyer was a lovely trip. The ocean on that day was very calm. The day was sunny but not too hot. On arrival we were met on the dive boat by Solo and Sam. These lovely guys became our very close mates and fishing buddies for my husband during our stay. Greeted by Dan and introduced to the staff then escorted to our beautiful Bure. As there are only ten bures at the resort we were within a very short walk to the beach, pool and restaurant. The sunsets were amongst the best we have ever seen.
All meals were gourmet, the daily fruit platters were made with fresh fruit picked daily, the cocktails were so nice and we had a special cocktail each night. Lovo night with kava and local entertainment including participating in a Fiji line dance. What a great giggle and a chance to meet some people from the local village. Our daily activities included fishing, snorkelling, planting coral, visiting a number of the surrounding islands and the highlight was visiting a village and meeting some of the year 6 and 7 students. The Students were studying different countries and were invited to question our group regarding our country of origin, leader and some of our history. Such very polite and smart children and a very kind and enthusiastic teacher. We distributed educational gifts to the students.
All the staff at Navutu Stars treated us like family. They are all very special people who enjoy working there and most importantly from a guests viewpoint the owners and management are lovely, generous people who respect and value their staff.
We highly recommend this boutique resort . We stayed here for seven days and wish we’d stayed for fourteen.

What a Paradise! This phrase is perfect to define Navutu Star Resorts, in Fiji.
After browsing a lot, I decided to stay in this hotel most because of the great reviews and also because of the few accommodations that it has (so, more exclusive).
But, after we arrived, we discovered that the most incredible and impressive issue about the hotel is the nature itself and, in special, DAN and his team: it’s something really difficult to describe how superb are DAN, the manager, and his team.
Since the first time you arrive at the island, you will feel a different kind of energy. SAI is always smiling, as all the others staff members. And not a false smile, but a true happiness because that’s how they live in this so isolated area: happy with what they have and happy to receive guests after a nightmare called pandemic of coronavirus.
We went to the hotel in April/2022, after postponed it more than one year because of the border’s restrictions. And it worth to wait so many! The island of the hotel is really impressive: everything preserved, with a beautiful sea, completely isolated from the chaos of big cities and modern life, just accompanied by birds, a lot of fish in the beach, wind and a luxury hotel.
The hotel is really luxury, with a very clean and spacious room, which was decorated for us since we were in honeymoon. We stayed in a room with a immersive pool in it and also in a beachfront. Both of the incredible, each one with it owns charms.
The food is amazing: thanks a lot for all the unforgettable breakfasts and dinners. And also the great cocktails in the evening before dinner.
Everyday they have a diferent activity, which can be a walk in the middle of the preserved mountain, or a boat to a completely empty beach. And we did this last one: they prepared some snacks and took us to a totally empty beach… as you arrange with them, some hours late they will come back to get you. More than perfect!
The nature in this island is really impressive and unforgettable. But DAN and the hotel staff tem make your stay even more special! Thanks a lot for give us memories that will be forever in our hearts!!! And sorry to be so late in writing this review…
We also contract a wedding in the hotel, since we didn’t have a ceremony in our country because of the pandemic. And it misses words to define how incredible DAN and his team made it: a real DREAM becoming true, with a catholic priest blessing the couple in the beach, with a local choir team also blessing our ceremony with beautiful and spiritual local music.
By the way, we were at the hotel in my wife birthday… and, of course, the staff team made is really special, with non dairy desert surprise, music and a vibrant and peaceful energy… thanks thanks thanks for being so special!
We will be forever grateful with DAN and his team to give us a so unforgettable experience!

There a 2 seaplane companies operating in this area Turtle airways and Pacific Island Air and both have their last flights out of Nadi around 4 or 4:30 at latest. They can only fly at daylight. You can try to contact them but I think 5:40 is definitely too late
