A reasonably comfortable 3-4 star hotel (definitely NOT 5!). A less than perfect location outside the town, so you can’t really have a drink at dinner if you want to drive home. We didn’t eat in the hotel restaurant based on poor reviews and the terrible breakfast and the fact that the town is full of charming places to eat. The hotel is perched in the hills but has no views whatsoever, even our top floor room’s balcony managed to obstruct any possible views! This seems like quite a feat on an island absolutely full of gorgeous views. We participated in the unappealing buffet breakfast -something you might get at a Holiday Inn. We skipped paying $60 euros for the two of us to experience the spa. There is a rather strange pool area for sunbathing and cocktails but again with no views. Worst of all for me was the dark mood lighting everywhere with pink and purple tinged hues. The interior decorating was tacky - involving a lot of black walls, dramatic glittery mirrors, oversized velvet chairs and inexplicable art. I would skip this place and go for something cheap and cheerful, preferably centrally located in the town with a nice local seaside vibe!…
Heaven!! The staff make the hotel, they are all brilliant, nothing is too much trouble and they work so hard! We stayed half board for 7 nights and the food was outstanding! We did choose to eat at the pizza place next door one night and the pizzas were next level. There was so much choice for breakfast. You can choose to sit outside and order your eggs off menu if fancied something different! A couple of points: -There is no tea or coffee making facilities in the room. -No irons are available. You will have to pay if you want something ironed. So come prepared or wear creased! -Water is 5/6 euros a bottle, so if you want to stay hydrated, visit the supermarket down the hill, about a 10 minute walk and stock up. You could also buy some wine for the room. There is a fridge in the room. -Try the club sandwich! There is plenty enough for 2 to share -Make sure you explore the garden, make your way to the top, sit on the chairs and take in the views. -You can easily take public transport from Olbia airport, takes about 2.5 hours, but it will safe plenty of money for cocktails! (Just Google map it) All in all, an outstanding holiday! Thank you to the staff!…
Stayed for x2 weeks at this fantastic hotel. No issues at all from start to finish. The staff are a great credit especially Roberto, Douglas and the rest of the team working bars / pool. Breakfast is a treat with massive variety of options. Room was fantastic and maid service was so frequent we ran out of room to put the courtesy chocs ! Ate at Ma and Ma pizza x2 and this again was excellent. We hope to return we loved it.
This was a last minute booking and what a find the hotel was beautiful we only had a classic room but it was spacious and very clean gorgeous chocolates on the bed at night x The service from all the staff was exceptionally good, friendly efficient and courteous. Breakfast was excellent and Dinner in the restaurant was absolutely delicious with very large portions although book early if you want a table round the pool. There was good entertainment on every evening. The pool was beautiful and well kept with very comfortable lounges around the gardens and a well serviced pool bar. The beach was a 5 minute walk from the hotel and once the wind had died down it was perfect for swimming . The spa facilities were sublime but again needed to book early as very busy ( book before you arrive) The town was a 20 minute walk or use the shuttle we walked . Thankyou for the best start to our holiday .…
Very nice hotel with an amazing pool area…probably the best I’ve ever stayed at (and travel a lot). And the pool stay are so friendly…especially the poolbar guy…top notch! The hotel itself are more a 4 star hotel e.g. no doorman to meet you at arrival (normal 5 star standard), poor service at lunch/dinner restaurant (a bit “uninterested” in non-Italien customers), breakfast at 3 star level (awful breakfast room, ok offerings and no one suggest you sit outside…we found out on day two). Very arrogant lady at the door to breakfast room. But rooms are very nice and the reception staff are nice too. So all in all a very good hotel, if you accept the “cons” and we enjoyed our 5 days at the pool. Note; adults only apparently starts around 10 years at this hotel. Several “Young teenageres” at the hotel. Not a problem for us, but just be aware…
It was a pleasure to stay in Ma&Ma Hotel. I'm very grateful to the hotel personnel for their help. They offered B-cake to my husband and were very friendly all the time. Spa in the hotel is very clean, the atmosphere there is comforting and relaxing. The hotel is very close to the city center and port. It is just 5-6 minutes by car. If I return to La Maddalena, I will definitely stay again in this hotel and will recommend it to my friends.
Room - Excellent! Beautiful view, very comfortable bed and great shower Breakfast - This was so good! The options and quality were outstanding. They served the best coffee out of everywhere we stayed this trip! The serving staff was also excellent and lovely! Pool - Beautiful view of the sea and relaxing ambience. Cleaning Staff - Outstanding! They really did an excellent job and even tidied up our room for us, which was above and beyond. The turn down service was also a nice touch. Spa and Fitness Center - Staff was lovely and I had everything I needed in the fitness center. The spa was relaxing and quite nice. Front Desk Staff - This was the disappointing aspect. Half of the staff was kind and helpful, the other half (especially the manager) were not providing "5 star" service. We had an issue with a dinner reservation which was to be made by the front desk. They were unable to make it and simply tried to call our room to inform us but of course we were not there. We were expected to ask about it at the front desk. They could have easily left a note or found us at the pool, but they did not try. I understand this is small, but for the price of the room and the claim of 5 stars, this was disappointing. We have had better service at 3 star hotels. We also didn't appreciate being treated as if it was our fault. The shuttle also ran infrequently and we were not near the town, but that could have been because we were there at the end of the season. Another thing to note: The welcome drink was a nonalcoholic, premixed juice. We asked if we could do something else and were told they would figure something out, but never followed through.…
Amazing experience, late September - not busy which made it even more relaxing. Room & bathroom spotless, beautiful views, very close to beach. Wish we booked for longer. Every member of staff we met or spoke to was very friendly & professional. Cannot recommend enough. Ma&Ma - if your reading this, thank you very much 😘
Overall sub-par experience at the hotel after a number of excellent experiences elsewhere in Sardinia. There were a number of issues with the room including a fridge that barely kept items below room temperature. The use of pool cards with threats of fines for non-return doesn’t feel reflective of a 5-star hotel or culture. The attitude of hotel staff I found surly and often dismissive which having read some of the responses to negative reviews on the site may well be a tone fostered by the general manager. On a personal note I was not a fan of the overall decor of the hotel or it’s location which is quite far from the town but I concede that those are personal preferences. On the plus side the rooms were clean and the overall cleaning service was satisfactory. The use of list for guests to fill in items at breakfast was also an efficient measure.…
No coffee machine (or even kettle with coffee powder) in the room. This is the first time I experience this in a five star hotel, but this was not an issue until I went to the buffet breakfast room to get a cup of coffee and bring it back to my room: they charged me 12 EUR for room service at check out! I refused to pay explaining the situation yet they insisted that I should. Reception finally accepted not to charge me after several back and fourths with the restaurant (because I did not eat breakfast and counted that coffee instead). Shocking and even more shocking that they did not let it go immediately. Very cheap attitude for a >300€/ night hotel (they charge 3€ for a pool towel change during the day, etc).
