WE are Canadian travellers who spent two nights at Hotel Excelsior during our vacation in Sardinia. We could see the hotel from the ferry and after a short walk we were welcomed by a charming hostess at Hotel Excelsior. The accommodation was superb, with a sea view room overlooking the harbour. Our room was very spacious and very clean. We cannot say enough about the staff at the hotel. They were pleasant and always willing to assist us with tour suggestions and information about La Maddalena. A beautiful island! We enjoyed staying by the harbour, and being part of the centre of town. Many restaurants in the area and lots of walking routes along the harbour to enjoy. The breakfast on the terrace was a great way to start our day. Lots of choices for breakfast. We hope to return to Sardinia in the future and visit th Hotel Excelsior again. We started our 2 week Sardinia trip in La Maddalena and had the pleasure to stay at the Hotel Excelsior for 2 nights. The hotel is right at the harbor were the ferris arrive and only a couple of minutes away from restaurants, bars and shops. Our room was very nice and faced the harbor, what was great. Unfortunately, it was therefore also a bit noisy in the early morning hours when trucks/cars started boarding the ferries. The breakfast was served at the terrace, with a lovely view on the water and all the staff were amazingly friendly. I definitely recommend this hotel.

The Hotel is amazing and the staff cannot do enough for you. Super friendly.😁.rooms are great and breakfast is also very good. We stayed here for 1 week and had the best time. It's our first time in sardinia but when we come again we will definitely be staying here as we felt right at home. Hotel is right over from the ferry port so location is also very ideal. So many beautiful places to eat and drink on the doorstep also. It has a beautiful terrace that overlooks the water which was fab for your morning coffee and people watching before your day ahead.

The hotel is literally opposite the ferry port, and although you would expect it to be noisy, the ferries are actually really quiet. Perfect location as well for the town centre. As a vegetarian I had no problem getting food in the evenings. The hotel organised the transfer from the airport to the hotel, especially with having to get the ferry over, and the driver was there waiting for us. The staff were so friendly, and Maria who was the first person we met and checked us in, is impossible to dislike! The only thing that could maybe improve is the breakfast. The hot food wasn't brilliant and didn't get replenished quickly, and if you like cake for breakfast then you'll be fine. But it's probably just personal preference as I didn't starve, and the girls will provide you with as much coffee as you like.…

Many hotels of Sardinia have dated rooms. Hotel Excelsior has new, modern rooms. I like the location - we took a ferry to the Palau port and the ferry stops just in front of the hotel. Great breakfast on the terrace. Sea view rooms offer great views, the garden view rooms are more quiet.

The hotel is situated in the town centre, making it very convenient with also has views of the sea. The breakfast is located by in a salon overlooking the harbour, with a long table with a wide selection of sweet and savoury food, coffees, and juices. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this place.

Great location just a few metres from the ferry. Our junior suite was spacious well appointed with an excellent view. Reception staff, particularly Veronica and Maria Louisa were very welcoming and so so helpful. Breakfast on the terrace is such a pleasant start to the day. Only downside is the wifi is erratic

We only booked for a few nights at this hotel, and then extended our vacation, because we wanted to stop more in this paradise that is the island of La Maddalena. the location is perfect and after a day at sea in the evening we could walk around the old town in search of clubs and shops. Very clean and comfortable room. The reception staff (veronica and maria luiza) very professional and nice, they gave us great tips to visit the surroundings. A special thought to the breakfast, as I am celiac, and having communicated it immediately upon arrival, every day I have been offered dedicated products, I really appreciated this attention. In any case the buffet was rich in both sweet and savory products, for all the needs and the girls always kind and smiling. will definitely be back! and we will make good publicity among friends.…

Very small room, as if it were a motel's. We often go to the gorgeous locality of the Maddalena and have stayed in wonderful hotels, but they were always a bit too distant from the town centre and the harbor. Since this year we didn't rent a car, we decided this time we would book a sea view room in this hotel, since it was located in the town centre and the reviews were positive. Unfortunately, the room was really small. We didn't have enough space to leave our two trolleys and there were no drawers. We had to lay on the floor the pillows we found in the closet, so that we could leave on top of them our clothes and swimwear. The bathroom was too small as well. I even read about a supposedly rich and varied breakfast!!! Makes me wonder if the customers who reviewed this hotel have ever been in a 4 star resort before! We had to wait 15 minutes for one cappuccino and they had no gluten-free products. I'll never come back. In Italy there are plenty of 4 star hotels worthy of their name, but the Excelsior is regretfully not one of them. As an Italian myself, I advise others to avoid it.…
