Great location. Two one block up and two over to the Parque Central. Attractive establishment from the outside. From the moment I was greeted at the front door, I knew it was a good choice. Check-in was a breeze. Inside the place is clean (as in very), well-furnished and tastefully decorated. As others have mentioned, it has a “homey” feel. Comfortable common areas that are open and well-lighted. I was booked in Room #5. At check-in I requested a “tranquillo” room - it was. It was a small room, but fine for solo, given the seating in the common areas. There was one other traveler who I met at breakfast. He was in #1, off the common area. He checked-out before me, so I peeked-in, it was a much larger room. I would probably request it next time if not many guest. But as I said, this was fine with me. Very comfortable bed and bathroom was very nice. Very clean, spotless. And the first hot shower I’d had in Nicaragua in two weeks. Nice towels, bed linens and such. Used the AC a bit just to get the temperature just right and then let the ceiling fan do the work. Had the best night’s sleep of the entire trip thus far. I was up early and breakfast was served promptly. And what a wonderful breakfast it was. The Senora prepared Gallo Pinto, Eggs, Tortillas, and fruit. Excellent coffee and juice to accompany. A nice spot to have breakfast. Afterwards I took a walk around town. Upon return the Senora offered me a glass of some awesome mango juice. Me being a plant enthusiast, she showed the plants out in the garage area. Very warm, friendly and accommodating woman, a real asset to the hotel. The hotel was a VALUE and I would stay there again in a heartbeat. …
A great choice if you’re staying in Matagalpa. “Don’t worry, you’re at Maria’s now…” And they really meant it. Their machine wouldn’t take my credit card, and I didn’t have enough cash upon arrival to cover my week visit. The above was quoted, No deposit was asked for,and I was not pressured at all to get to a bank “first thing” in the morning to get money. What other place would do this? They are warm and friendly and take total care of you. The rooms are spacious clean and comfortable. The lobby and sitting areas make you feel like you are at home.Did the I mention la Senora’s breakfast yet? There was even secure parking for my friends truck. It was worth the price and I will return again.
My husband and I stayed at Maria's for 4 nights. The room was spotless, as was the bathroom, which was a good size. The room was a little dark, but that did not matter. The bed was comfortable and the hotel is quiet. There was hot water, a/c, and wi-fi. Breakfast was delicious, prepared by delightful staff. Every single staff member was friendly and very helpful. The other guests were also friendly - we had breakfast together most days and usually saw each other in the common areas throughout the day. When we left, my husband remarked that it was like leaving family. I felt the same way and hope to return some day.
Clean, comfortable and really quiet (rare in Nicaragua). Super breakfasts serve family style in the b&b kitchen. Centrally located and in a modern building. Only down side is weak showers with patchy water heat. But you're in Nicaragua so you e got to not be too picky on that front. Highly recommend.
About 2 weeks ago I spent 2 nights at fine small an friendly hotel. My room was spotless, the staff was very friendly, and it felt very safe. If I were to bring my mother to Matagalpa, we would surely stay in this gem. She is 86 years old, and she would love it.
