First the surroundings. Breathtaking! If you like hiking this is an absolute must! We saw I dunno how many bird species, frogs, waterfowl, insects, a squirrel typed thing, and yes - howler monkeys a few times. The weather is a cool relief from lower elevations. The accommodations were very atmospheric. Little cabins or apartment style lodgings, either feeling completely immersed... More

I was very impressed by Selva Negra. The place is stunning, the coffee great, the staff friendly and helpful, and the hostel lovely. I stayed here for one night with two friends, and we could have easily stayed a couple days more. We particularly enjoyed the coffee tour since our guide, José, was incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic.

First of all. I'm a local. So this is a guide for foreigners and citizens. The place, Incredible, perfect weather if you're trying to scape capital temperatures. Centenary threes, Jungle, trails, pawn, long story short amazing. Food on the other hand. Expensive, BAD, poorly presented, bad delivered. Boost it's expensive also so take your with you on your travel bag.... More

We brought a group of 30 and spent the day hiking then coffee and cake. Great way to experience the cloud forest and to experience the nature. Would loved to have had more time. You can hike the trails yourself but I'm sure the 7:30 nature tour with a guide would be worth the 15 dollars we just were not... More

Beautiful and peaceful place in the middle of the forest! I went to the resort on my own for a day trip and it is really easy to get there with public transports. I spent a couple of hours hiking in the forest and decided to go for the difficult trails (there are easy and medium trails). It rained the... More

I haven't been here in over a decade and the place has changed and become so popular and I can't even recognize it anymore. If you are in the area it's a must stop to relax and enjoy a drink or two. The entrance fee was moderate but I feel its worth it to experience this place with it's beautiful... More

Thanks Creeping_Death_LA for your recent visit to Selva Negra and taking time to write a review. At Selva Negra we have an entrance fee to ensure that our natural beauty is not overcrowded. We have found that an entrance fee is necessary to pay for some of the upkeep of the resort grounds. We have two different kinds of entrances... More

Absolutely stunning! Great for hiking, relaxing and enjoying nature! Weather is cooler and is sprinkling. Prices are reasonable, place is clean and staff is friendly. Organic and healthy food is served along with delicious coffee. My kids are ages 11 and 10, they had a blast exploring and hiking. We rented a four bedroom cabin with two bathrooms and family... Traveled from Esteli via Jinotega. It is an awesome drive, w/ beautiful scenery. This place has been around. Despite some of the previous reviews that knock the rooms and food, I've got to give this place a shout-out! We had a lakeside room that was quite nice. Looked at one of the cottages, and it was also nice. The three... More

I have been in Selva Negra three times. Place is wonderful. It has a great German influence but Germans are not there. No good service and disappointing food for three times in a row. Really, how can someone have such lovely place with such bad service and food. I hope that someday they hire a professional chef and professional hostess... More
