Clean and friendly little hospedaje. Owners put some effort in using plants and so on, to make it more comfortable. Friendly staff. Kitchen use possible. Good WiFi. No air conditioning but the fans in the rooms to a fair job. Ideal for a one or two nights stay.
I stayed here with a friend. The hotel was clean, very nice for Nicaragua. Kitchen was decent, the staff were very friendly. There is a small barbecue restaurant run by two sisters beside the hotel, cheap food. This is not on the touristy side of town.
You might not expect much from a Central American hotel half-way between the bus terminal and the main park, at least not from one that charges $10 a night and requires you to proceed 20 feet from the street entrance to a barred gate down a murky hall. Once inside La Profe, however, you'll be both surprised and happy to find that $10 buys a quiet private room with a genuine hot water shower (not the ubiquitous electric suicide installation), good wi-fi signals and cable TV, all meticulously clean and well-ventilated. And, at least in the case of Room 12A, apparently abutting the hidden lair of a bird that every so often lets loose with a disturbingly human-sounding wolf whistle. Free, well-made coffee and a usefully equipped kitchen, including an oven, on the ground floor, and a second floor patio garlanded in vines and flowers around a comfortable arrangement of rocking chairs and tables where you can take your free morning coffee and sigh contentedly.…
Considering the price, you will get a clean room (check your sheets!), but unfortunately, not all rooms have a toilet/shower, so ask before you commit! It is close to the center of town, but there are several others better centered.
