This is a wonderful place to stay not for comfort but for the fact that it is a former monastery and it shows. The Spartan rooms are not showy, there is no tv and the corridors are quiet. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and the building itself is equisite. I recommend staying here for a night just for the experience....

A beautiful place to relax in Coban. The family who runs the hotel is very kind and helpful, the rooms are clean and all situated around a beautiful garden. A really wonderful place to stay for a few nights!

My partner and I stayed at Monja Blanca for three nights in December 2014 and were extremely impressed. The hotel is located right at the center of town, and is steps away from all the activities in Coban (including the best places to eat). It is a colonial-era house converted into a hotel, so it has a very homey feel,...

The hotel courtyard, built in colonial style, had tiled, covered walkways and the central garden area was full of ornamental plants. All parts of the hotel were clean and well maintained. Rooms are simple, clean and pleasant with comfortable beds and good quality bedding. Breakfast is provided at extra cost in a lovely dining room with dark wood furniture with...

We stayed here for 2 nights and were very happy. It has a very old world feel. The grounds inside the hotel are beautifully landscaped with lots of places to sit outdoors and relax, plants everywhere, and birds singing in the trees. You can’t believe it’s located right in the middle of town (a 5 minute walk to the main...

The secure compound has beautiful gardens and even comfy armchairs. The breakfast room is delightful with a good inexpensive menu. The staff were friendly and gracious. When I needed laundry done on the day local laundries are closed they did it for me as a favour. They also let me leave my suitcase when I went to Lanquin for a...

If you just look at the pictures of the hotel, it looks peaceful. After all, it has 2 gardens. However, in reality, it is also located by a busy road frequented by buses and trucks, which is very noisy throughout the whole evening. On top of that, if you happen to be there on Friday or the weekend, the disco...

Simple rooms either with private or shared bathrooms and a/c. Smelled a little damp in rooms, although probably as at the end of wet season. When we stayed we were one of the only guests - place felt very quiet / subdued as a result. There was no sign of any breakfasts etc as we wondered round without sight of...

The rooms were nice service was good and the owners were super friendly to me and my family. They even booked out tour to Semuc Champey and the Caves that also included a complementary breakfast. The place felt very secure since you had to be let into the building. Where everything went south was when we returned from our trip....

Clean, welcoming and lots of hot water! And rocking chairs! When we realized that there were no shuttles to Lanquin in the afternoon, Monja Blanca was recommended. Simple accommodations but included a pitcher of fresh water and two glasses by the bed—such a nice homey touch! Estelle, la ama de casa, called a travel agent to the hotel so that...
