A very different and unique boutique hotel - built into side of boulder strewn rock side with the most spectacular dining area you will ever see - open air dining under a huge overhanging boulder - a stunning place to eat very good food. Rooms were spacious and comfortable carefully tended by caring staff. Close to Singharaja Forest a visit...

It certainly is different being built into a rock face, but sadly lacks any views because of the surrounding trees. After a couple of days this starts to feel very claustrophobic and the dark cave-like rooms don't help... whoever thought painting all the internal walls matt black was a good idea needs therapy. Any light, and what little there is...

The concept of this hotel is unique. It is built into the sides of giant granite boulders. The restaurant is in a beautiful setting underneath an enormous granite boulder. We could see mongeese and monkeys in the forest canopy as we were having lunch. The staff were good and attentive. Wen we arrived we were given the honeymoon suite, which...

Architectural master piece , the dining area like a Oyester shell with enormous boulder above as roof.Rooms spacious and artwork on beds by flowers and red coloured rare beads done by three porters on duty on rotation , who though slimmer than myself carried the two 17 kilo baggages and 8 kilo each of two camera bags on their shoulders...

This hotel is truly unique - it is built into the rock of the steep hillside. You arrive in the car park and think where is the hotel? Then you see a stairway leading through the rock face and climb the 53(!) steps up to reception. The rooms are very individual, but are spacious and comfortable. The restaurant is located...

This is a real experience and one I loved but not for the unsteady on your feet. Called an Eco friendly hotel, as usual with Sri Lanka the staff are just so friendly and helpful. The foods is really excellent and the atmosphere is fabulous for a couple of days. The rooms are spacious and incredibly well attended to. However...

This place is certainly different but still an extremely comfortable and welcoming hotel. You do need a certain level of physical fitness to climb the steps to reception, your room and the restaurant and pool areas. The rooms were fantastic, comfortable, clean and large. The staff were very attentive and made us fabulous meals. On my birthday they decorated our...

This place is a touch of architectural vision. The whole place is sill fully moulded into the hill side, combining natural rock and concrete structures. That said the concrete is well hidden by natural vegetation so it is very natural looking. Food is served under a giant over hanging rock structure and creates a very nice atmosphere in the evening....

A great design by Sri Lanka's most famous architect, Bawa. Sadly it is a has been hotel. Management has not only let it go but contributed to its slide. Maintenance is poor and totally out of character with its original design. The curtains in the bathroom and shower had been replaced by plastic blue dolphins with bubbles . Horrid! The...
