Kulu Safaris - The Pioneers for mobile tented camping safaris.Deep in the jungle away from the hum drum of everyday life is the opportunity for man and nature to reconnect – the way it used to be. This opportunity has been made possible by Kulu Safaris Sri Lanka. In Sri Lanka Kulu Safaris redefined the concept of camping in the National Parks with mobile tents which allow you to immerse yourself in the wild with all the comforts that modern civilization can give you.As you go on sightings of elephants, leopards, bears and birds along with your own professional naturalist you can rest assured that you will have delicious cooking, a comfortable tent and even hot and cold showers when you get back to camp. Our mobile camping experience combines five star luxuries with natures wildest. Our spacious tents come fully equipped with hot and cold water showers, toilets and a huge bed to relax in. Cosy lounge chairs at the entrance to your tent provide you with the space to unwind and relax to the sounds of the great outdoors.
From Arrival to Departure, a fantastic Glamping experience, unmatched in Sri Lanka. Every need had been thought of and pre-arranged by a very hands-on proactive management and very attentive, courteous staff. The Luxury Tented Accommodation was excellent and nothing was lacking. Food was served warm, very tasty and available in plenty. The Lake-side barbecue was unforgettable with tender barbecued pork chops and chicken and the fresh salad. After meal desserts were great. Loved the cold fresh towels and the fruit juice/water served after each safari. The snacks served on each safari was tasty with low sugar. The drink of Mango juice was a bit too strong for my taste and the ever helpful driver suggest dilution with iced water which he provided; this was then a real thirst quencher at the half way safari stop. The driver and naturalist were quite knowledgeable and identified all the birds seen; my main target being Birds, this was great. Had three leopard sightings and the third one was a leisurely photo-shoot until we had to leave to keep with the Park closing time. The hike up the hill close to the camp site was very enjoyable and the helping hand of the 4 guides was very useful to many of us older folk. The Camp premises and the adjoining Lake abounds with many Birds; at this time of the year the winter migrants had already left and only the Resident Birds were seen; a total of 28 species, posted on eBird, were seen during the half day spent wondering around. Given the location, more than double this is a possibility during the winter migrant season.…

Myself, daughter and son-in-law stayed at Kulu in late January-early February for two nights. We participated in: 1 kayak trip around a lake, 2 safaris, 1 tree i.d. walkabout and an early morning hike to a lookout point. It was all unbelievable. The wildlife was beautiful and expertly guided by their knowledgeable guides. The food was excellent and very Sri Lankan, and the accomodation was superb (permanent tents with AC and washroom - glamping+). Alot of special touches and extras (like breakfast in a treehouse, dinner lakeside) where you can hear the wildlife everywhere. The only negative was being able to hear bass/music from the village across the lake at night which interfered with hearing the wildlife. A truly special experience.

We had a wonderful time at Kulu Safaris. The camp is really super nice and the service excellent! We were lucky enough to see 2 leopards, several elephants and countless other exciting animals! The food there was also very good and we particularly liked the breakfast in the Tree house! Many thanks to the whole team and especially to Devaka who explained everything to us in detail, Wimaley who drove us great and Tracker Raj and Praba for the great service!

This is an experience of a lifetime. We spent 2 nights with Kulu Safaris and our high expectations were constantly being surpassed. The camp is superb and rooms are incredibly comfortable. Yes, you're sleeping in a tent but it certainly doesn't feel like it. The staff is what I think is the highlight of the whole experience. They go above and beyond. We were assigned a naturalist, Devaka, who made us feel at home every time. The meals were amazing too and they try to vary — we also really like they accommodated our diet restrictions. Finally, the safari. We did 2 and loved them. The jeep is comfortable and our driver Wimaley did an outstanding job driving through the rain and mud (our second day was pretty wet). We got to see elephants, a leopard, eagles, different kinds of birds, deers... We strongly recommend everyone coming to Sri Lanka to stay with Kulu Safaris! It was THE highlight of our trip.…

This place does not disappoint. Very friendly and welcoming. We were the only ones in camp for a night and were given 110% attention. The tents are well spaced out and there are several dining areas so groups are given a unique experience. The tree house provides stunning views and a great place for breakfast. Food was very good and varied. Great team spirit.

Experience Yala National Park via Kulu Safaris! Kulu Safaris tastefully hides luxury in a camping lodge. Tents are packed with all necessary amenities including WiFi, A/C, fans and an attached bathroom. Everything was clean and tidy. Tents are positioned to give the guests the feeling that it's a solo camping in nature, facing a beautiful lake with a constant breeze blowing all day long. The treehouse on the big Palu tree had such beautiful views that I felt a poem was about to burst out of me! Meals at the campsite were amazing! Authentic Sri lankan, taste bud tantalising, healthy dishes & drinks. Every trip to the yala national park was full of excitement as the Kulu Safaris jeep driver/guide was not only very knowledgeable about the frequent locations of the major animals like the leopards, elephants, coyotes, water buffaloes etc but he was in a network with other guides to quickly take us to a location when animals were spotted-Thank you Rohana! I was most impressed by Kulu Safaris' attention to detail when I found out that there was a box packed with cold water bottles, fruit juice and snacks! (just when we were hungry like Hippos!!) Excellent service by the team - so very thorough! Cheers!! Javana and his Kulu Safaris team gives all the luxury loving glampers out there a beautiful safari experience without ugly concrete monstrosities (Thank you). I personally think just a holiday at Kulu Safaris is what we all need in our busy lives. A place to be one with nature, enjoy healthy food and simply relax, dream away & allow our creative side to blossom. …

Excellent Sri Lankan safari in Yala National Park with excellent accomodation (tents in the wild but with air conditioning, showers, etc) and fantastic food. The campsite was well positioned close to the entrance to Block 1 (c.25 minutes to get into the park) but remote enough with an incredible lake and beautiful sunsets. We saw leopards, plenty of elephants, buffalo, eagles and smaller birds throughout the two days spent at Kulu - our team (Devaka - naturalist, Thilan - driver and Bala Vickrama - tracker) were excellent, knowledgable and very friendly. Thank you again - would come back again in a heartbeat!
