Our Team who was there from the very beginning of Yala Safari Camping was real wild life and nature lovers who were mixed with wild from childhood. We were born here and most of our childhood memories are connected with jungle experiences. The love and knowledge we gained from childhood came into live since 2003, when we started our first campsite. We could gain the reputation as one of the best safari camping providers of South Asia from the courage of ours and the continuous satisfaction thus came from our guests. Now we have 6 luxury tents and they are identified as the best campsites of Yala and the best location of Yala. We are the only campsite provider who registered with Independent Safari Association of Yala and we are the only provider in such an unique wild life habitat. Yes it is absolutely a wildlife kingdom where we are located in…. We invite you to share our experiences with wild life and nature while enjoying the best safari camping features of Sri Lanka. Yala National Park is located in the south eastern region of Sri Lanka and extends over two provinces of Hambantota district of southern province and Monaragala district in Uva province. There are 2 popular entrances to the park which are t Palatupana and Katagamuwa. Since Palatupana is always busy , we use Katagamuwa entrance. Yala National Park that consists of five blocks is the most visited and second largest national park in Sri Lanka. Though Yala spreads over an area of 1260 square kilometers, only one fifth of the area is open to the visitors. Four-fifths of the park is a strictly designated Natural Reserve. Adjoining the eastern border of the park is Kumana. The gateway to Yala National Park is Tissamaharama. The well-designed visitor center provides the information to the tourists and assigns a tracker to all incoming vehicles. Dawn and dusk bring about the best timing for Safari tours in the Yala National Park. Being located in one of the arid regions of Sri Lanka, the Climate of Ruhuna National Park is usually hot and dry. The mean annual temperature is 27 Celsius, although in the dry season the temperature could go as high as 37 Celsius. The rocky outcrops scattered over the park provides vantage points to enjoy the sprawling areas with Sri Lanka’s dry zone landscape: low scrub and woods. Still more, the southern border of the park being the south-eastern coast, the brackish lagoons and dunes enhances the distinctive charm of the Yala National Park.

The Yala Safari Camping was one of the absolute highlights of our trip. It was not an easy decision as it was above our budget but it was worth it every second. The camp itself is very special, the deck offers a great view and the food in the camp was just amazing. The staff was helping in every aspect and tried everything to make this a special trip for us. We were not sure if our kids (3y/5y) would take a whole days safari so well but the team planned it very well and kids really enjoyed it. Finding a Leopard was not easy that day but in the end our driver got us to the right spot at just the right time. Of course we also saw a lot of other wildlife including elephants, sloth bears, jakals, … All in all it was just the perfect package and i can recommend it to 100%

First of all, i want to start with how great people work in the camping. I wouldnt call it camping as its more like resort experience. The Safari was amaizing and we saw everything we wanted. I would highly recommend everyone on going here.

Absolutely the maximum wonderful vacation we've ever had In YALA. Our Campsite Locations were fantastic and had fascinating 360° Scenic Views, and The service is Respectful. great off-grid experience for nature lovers. The Yala Safari Camping team of Members was tremendous, the meals became scrumptious. The Safari was just as amazing. Luxurious safari jeep with a cool box. We saw leopards and A number of animals – wild elephants and tuskers, lots of Deer herd (like 50/60 in one herd ), rabbits, peacocks, wild boar, crocodiles, Sri Lankan jackal, eagles, and a lot of birds. and nothing can prepare you for the life-changing beauty of this ecosystem. A+++

If you're considering traveling to Sri Lanka right now but unsure because of what is in the media - do not stress, it is safe and easy to get around. Do not fret and book your trip now before all the tourists come back! I wanted to provide a 5 star review, because this is undoubtedly the most unique safari property in Yala and the team IS amazing. Their location is very close to the gate (there is a 15-20 minute dirt road to get there) and their walkway above the trees is stunning (you do not see a variety of wildlife from it, only birds and occasionally monkeys on their property). However, there were a few details we struggled with and as tourism increases, I feel confident the camp will make improvements in the near future. Tents: The property is in a jungle and so bugs are inevitable, but it is a luxury property for a high $ and the accommodations do not currently reflect that. The tents are solid, but in need of some attention. The mosquito nets need to be replaced and the interior of the tents are in need of a deep cleaning. Shower had hot water and shampoo/cond. and the air conditioning worked well. Our tent had carpet and we wish we had one with hardwood floors like the pictures. Safari: Their staff were EXCELLENT trackers, however, their english was not strong so we did not receive much more information than animal names. I love learning about animal habits, stories, and plant life, so this was difficult for me. They also did not have a book on mammals for you to reference, so I would recommend buying one online in advance and bringing your own (they did have a bird book). The safari vehicle was top of the line, but some of the seats are in desperate need of repair. I would also ask to visit the museum in Yala, if it is not already on your itinerary -- that is where we learned the most! Meals: Absolutely delicious. Cocktails and wines were great. Staff: Everyone was available to us and very kind. We did not talk to any of them too much, but you can tell they love working there and love animals. Ravi was helpful with everything we needed and Mahesh, the owner, greeted us on several occasions - you can tell he loves the place very much. Achi is the best tracker there is, we couldn't believe what he saw when we couldn't see anything. Dumi, great chef! That eggplant curry though.... All in all, would recommend staying but ask the camp any questions ahead of time if you have specific expectations or concerns.

My husband and I visited Yala Safari Camping for a night in August and we absolutely LOVED our experience. From the moment we arrived to the end of our stay, we received the best service from all of the staff, ate quality food and enjoyed two quality safari experiences (which we were lucky enough to see a leopard on!). Our tent was clean, tidy and very spacious. We did have a few little creepy crawlies (mainly ants and little flying bugs in the bathroom) but when your in the middle of the jungle in a tent, you have to expect that! And it wasn’t an issue for us at all. Mahesh and the team were just amazing. Anything we needed, they were there. The team genuinely care about their environment and the animals within it. While we were there, they were caring for a monkey and a deer that had been injured which was also an added bonus for us to witness. Overall, we couldn’t fault our experience and highly recommend for anyone considering a glamping experience!

Had the most incredible time here, the views are incredible and there’s even a sunken bath in the rooms. Super lovely friendly staff and had such a great safari. Couldn’t recommend more! Took some film shots when I was there too of the lovely staff :)

I cannot imagine my stay in Sri Lanka without visiting this magical place, which is an amazing and unforgettable experience. Mahesh (owner), who (literally) built the camping himself, takes care of tourists with his family personally, and their service is at the highest level - starting with outstanding (the best on the island) food, appearance and arrangement of rooms, restaurant with a huge viewing terrace to attractions such as Safari Game. I recommend it with all my heart!

YSC is a real deal glamping camp. Within the Yala buffer zone, you get a beautiful view above the Yala canopy that goes on into the horizon. Achintha is the best safari driver/spotter ever! The food (ask for their mushroom soup!) and service was first class all the way. We felt so welcome while staying here we found it hard to leave!
