The buffer-zone jungles of Yala National Park hold a secret which until now has been hidden, but we are ready to share this secret with you and this is none other than the CWS campsite. Nestled in the buffer zone forests which border the national park, our camp will transport you into a world unlike any other. The camp is a fusion of simplicity and wild luxury that has been woven seamlessly with the surrounding environment. Each of our six tents are spacious and comfortable providing the ultimate relaxation after a long day of safari. A highlight is the plunge pool in each tent, which during the heat of the day, allows one to cool off in their “wallow”.

John was our host during the stay at CWS, who ensured everything was in order and we had nothing else to worry other than relaxing in the most luxurious tent which comes with a plunge pool, served with delicious food cooked just for us and enjoying the wild.

Their game drives are unique compared to most others in Yala and was never in a rush but was too good to be at the right spot in the right time to spot most of the animals you get to see in Yala, 2 leopards, 2 tuskers and around 10 other elephants, birds, crocodiles and many more just in one game drive. They even had a surprise dinner setting specially for us which we never expected on this trip.

I would recommend at least two nights there for an unforgettable experience. Special thanks to Arshad, John and the staff for the fantastic experience we had in Yala. We will be there again soon!!

We were pleasantly surprised by how much the campsite had changed since we stayed about ten months ago. Our favourite addition by far is the photo hub where we got a chance to review our photos after our four hour long sighting of two young leopards on a tree (the stunning sighting was all thanks to the expertise and incredible patience of our guide, Indika).

As always, the CWS team was very accommodating and truly went above and beyond with all of our requests throughout our stay. Can't wait to head back there again!

This is THE place for an amazing glamping experience. If you want a holiday in the wild but not compromise on the creature comforts this is the ideal location. The guided safaris with Indika is the highlight of the stay. The staff is extremely accommodating, catering to our different dietary needs, and requirements. Indika and Aaron are wonderful guides and makes the stay all worth it!

We've stayed at Ceylon Wild Safaris multiple times, and we keep coming back for more, with our next trip already booked for November! On our last trip in July we spent 3 nights with the awesome team at CWS and had some incredible sightings! The "tents" aren't the tents you're used too - they are palatial, air conditioned and have a plunge pool - all very different (thankfully!) to camping trips I recall as a child! Chef Siri is a whiz in the kitchen, whipping up delicious local fare. The hospitality of the service team is warm and homely - just what you need after a long day in the bush.

If you're a photographer then this is paradise as the team are experts in photography and can guide both amateurs and professionals alike! They also have a professional level printer should you want to print any of your pictures after an amazing sighting!

Would certainly recommend visiting!

Easily, the best glamping experience me and my friends have had. The food was amazing and nothing like that afternoon dip in our own private pool after a safari. The A/C tents were very comfortable and the bathrooms were fully equiped. Special thanks goes to Indika, Aaron, Tharanga and Chandre who guided us in the adventurous safaris and made us feel homely. Their knowledge of the wildlife is second to non and a lot to learn from. We would all definitely be staying with CWS again.

My husband and I went to stay at Ceylon Wild and I cannot explain how wonderful, immersive and incredibly special the experience was! From the moment booked our stay, Arran and his team were warm, welcoming and attentive to our needs. The rooms were luxurious, comfortable and accessible - so much so it was hard to believe we were in a tent with a plunge pool on the deck! The food at camp was always delicious and authentically Sri Lankan, refreshments were even provided on game drives too, so we were never short of food or drinks. Game drives with Arran as our guide and our driver Chamil were great as well as seeing elephants, leopards and a bear we also learnt so much about local bird life.
It was also wonderful to hear about all the conservation work Arran and Indika are doing to protect wildlife and forest areas in Sri Lanka. Definitely a must for anyone visiting the island!

Ceylon Wild Safaris is a fantastic property located a few mins drive from the entrance to the Katuwegama side of Yala.

The property itself is absolutely beautiful, with comfortable air conditioned tents, great amenities and an amazing chef on site.

The service provided and team of knowledgeable staff are always on hand to attend to your needs.

The food is simply fantastic and full of flavour and stands amongst the best Sri Lankan food I have had!

In terms of safaris, the driver / guide we got was exceptional, he knew exactly where to go and his vehicle was extremely comfortable, where even our 10 month old did not have any problems during the safari.

I highly recommend Ceylon Wild Safaris to anyone coming over to Yala!

Aaran , Indika and team were experienced guides who provided us with a wonderful two nights in the jungle. The place is set up with lovely fixed tents with outdoor bathroom and plunge pool, the most comfortable beds and douvets I have ever used in Sri Lanka, great Sri Lankan food and the wonderful sights and sounds of the jungle!!! The little touches such as blankets for cooler morning drives to the snacks and breakfast in the jungle with god plunger coffee as well!! Highly recommended for a ethical non standard stay in Yala. We will be back for sure!!!

Arran & his team at Ceylon Wild Safaris were exceptional. Right from our late evening (after dark) arrival to the last departure, everything in between was so well thought through and seamlessly executed.

We did 3 drives (rides) over the course of 2 days with a 3-year old in tow. The food at this property was delicious. We opted for Sri Lankan fare and boy did it live up to the hype. We tried string hoppers, puttu, coconut bread, pork curry, chicken curry & so much more. Yes, there is a lot on offer for vegetarians too.

We went to block 1 & 5. More than just the blocks, the explanations offered to us about the flora & fauna in the area were also very well detailed.

We had made a small request for curd, for the little guy and that was provided with the most tasty kethul treacle. I can't explain how good that stuff is.

Over the course of our drives, we sighted; elephants, 25-30 different & oh so beautiful birds, wild boars, mongoose, wild bulls, a lot of crocs & some other stuff.

Another detail worth mentioning; we were given hot & cold towels to freshen up, upon returning from each drive. Refreshing cool drinks as well. I thought this touch elevated things.

I would go back here in a heart beat.

Pro-tip: Take a dip in the cold plunge pool after the morning safari and jump directly into the hot shower. Just do it!

We had a wonderful stay with Ceylon Wild Safaris. We arrived to a delicious lunch and went straight out on safari shortly after. The safari was excellent, Arran (our tracker/guide) was really knowledgeable and clearly cares passionately about the wildlife. A percentage of the fee goes towards conservation which I think is really important. The tent itself was world class and 5 star luxury ...like staying in a top hotel room! Bed was so comfy, bathroom was great and we even had a little plunge pool outside which was perfect for after safari. Thank you for an amazing first stay... we will definitely be back.
