We only had one night at the camp but the experience will never be forgotten. The entire family loved it. The tents are basic enough to feel like you are properly camping but very comfortable (lighting, proper beds, camp shower, proper loos etc.). The staff are absolutely amazing - they really understand service and are completely focused on ensuring you... More

We stayed two nights at the campsite and had a fabulous time! Our camp hosts were fantastically welcoming and attentive and looked after our every need. The attention to detail at the campsite and cleanliness of our tent was excellent and the flushing toilet was an unexpected luxury! On the safari drives we were lucky enough to see 4 leopards,... The luxury tent was more than could be expected. Dhanu the guide was fantastic taking a lot of time to explain all the wildlife and finding us a leopard up close to photograph. He also spent time showing our daughter how to use her camera and while in camp to show us how to eat Sri Lankan style (with your... More

First, the good: Danu picked us up and started showing us wildlife from the moment we started driving to the camp. The camp was impeccably presented, the tent super clean, thoughtful provision for charging and lighting. Outdoor screened showers were made warm if desired (it was) a great treat after an afternoon safari, though some may prefer to wear a... More

I've traveled on 6 continents, from the South to the North Pole, from luxury cruises to great hotels and guess what: Noel Rodrigo's Leopard Safaris is by far among the very best experiences you can have. The stuff is National Geographic-quality, the food is 100X better than you get in any hotel, and everything is made with love and hard... More

If you are considering a trip to Sri Lanka, this has to be on your list. We spent a week travelling all over the country but our single night at Noel's camp in Yala summed it up - the welcoming and charismatic people and the pride in the land and its nature. We arrived just after midday and were met... More

As we pulled up to the meeting point , we were met with a striking man in safari attire, Danu. Danu (our host) is a much younger Sri Lankan version of Sir David Attenborough-with a dash of Indiana Jones. His knowledge for wildlife is amazing and he has an eagle eye for spotting animals as did our amazing driver who... More

A huge thank you to Praneeth, Sajith and the rest of the staff in making this one of the most amazing experiences we have ever had in Sri Lanka. We stayed for 2 nights at the beginning of our road trip and saw it all: Leopards, herds of elephants, huge crocodiles and water buffaloes wallowing in the mud, painted storks... More

If you're planning your trip to SL then you MUST include 2 nights at Noel's Leopard Safari! Everything about the trip was fantastic! We had an ongoing joke during our safaris that the guides have called the animals in advance to tell them we were coming. Everytime we said "It would be cool to see .... (insert animal here)" they... Dear Fang, Thank you for your amazing review! Indeed, you were very lucky to spot every animal you wished for! Impossible not to joke about it! As you mentioned above Saj and Praneeth, together with the rest of my team, are very passionate for and knowledgeable about our wildlife and their habitat and this is well reflected on their game... This is a fantastic experience. Noel and the team have covered all the bases which makes for a wonderful and genuine safari reminiscent of the original African model. The camp is well equipped with tents spaced to afford privacy, offering large beds and private bathrooms. The food was just excellent throughout our stay. We saw a variety of wildlife including... Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Only one man has made his home for thirty-five years amongst the world's highest concentration of leopards in the wild. Noel Rodrigo personally guides guests into Sri Lanka's most dramatic landscapes and natural habitats for elephants, sloth bears and crocodiles as well, in the utmost comfort, thanks to his former career as a first class airline cabin manager. Setting Noel's safaris to Yala and Wilpattu National Parks apart however are not merely the Toyota jeeps customized with camera support points and powerful binoculars for every guest, nor the South African tents outfitted with king size beds, en suite bathrooms, cooling units and private decks, nor even the healthy homemade Sri Lankan cuisine and imported wines. "I don't want my guests to feel any difference," says Noel of his elite team, recognized for their expertise by leading travel agents and international publications including Robb Report, Tatler and How To Spend It. In close coordination, Noel and these equally attuned animal trackers and bird specialists lead twice-daily game drives - most see a leopard, often many -- while hornbills, kingfishers and peacocks flutter overhead. "Elephants may come to drink at the waterhole by your tent," Noel tantalizingly warns his guests of all ages, honeymooners, families and friends among them, at his well appointed camps in the Sri Lankan jungle and high upon the Knuckles Range where nature photography lessons, cooking classes and equatorial stargazing are among the additional activities on offer amidst these timeless natural surroundings. ... more   less
