Arriving after mid day we were presented with a fantastic lunch, and then, after a short break taken out on the first of our four safaris. Noel has the inside running on the gig. He knows how to avoid the crowds and where the animals are likely to be (picking up on the signs most of us look past or...

Fantastic. Despite not seeing any leopards (which is very unlucky so we have heard) my family and I had a lovely time. The food was beyond delicious, the staff were so attentive (one staff member per guest) and while it was camping, the set up made it feel very luxurious. The 5am wake-ups were a challenge but were balanced by...

This was a fantastic experience, both in the camp itself and in the National Park, with excellent, knowledgeable guides. If you are a keen photographer, ample facilities are provided including bean bags for game drives and guides have a good appreciation of vehicle positioning vs the sun and game. First and foremost, the main reason that I imagine most people...

Experience on safari in other parts of the world has taught us that you generally get what you pay for, and so we booked at the top end for two nights in Yala, with Noel Rodrigo’s highly respected operation. Noel, Cecile and the rest of the team were welcoming, gracious and knowledgeable hosts, and highly professional in every aspect of...

We had a wonderful pre-Christmas stay with Sarj, Sanjay, Damien and the team at the Yala site. Service was impeccable, food outstanding, and the accomodation a fair bit more luxurious than I remembered from camping trips in my youth! We stayed 3 nights, and had 6 drives. The first 2 were great - elephants. Spotted deer, colourful indigenous birds, etc -...

I had an outstanding stay at this Safari camp 2 weeks ago. The staff treated us like royalty, making sure every single detail of my stay was perfection. I had the privilege of being hosted by Noel and Cecile, the owners, and had equally great attention from all of the other staff in their absence. The safari guides, Sanj, Damian...

Noel and Cecile were fantastic hosts and the whole experience at the campsite was wonderful. The staff are really friendly and everyone works so hard to make the experience memorable. The tents are thoughtfully equipped with everything that you need including a torch, mobile phone, fans, electrical sockets and ear plugs for when the jungle gets noisy at night! The...

The staff were so friendly and accommodating, and were absolute experts when it came to the animals and their habitat. We saw so many amazing wild animals and learned so many things about them. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Only one man has made his home for thirty-five years amongst the world's highest concentration of leopards in the wild. Noel Rodrigo personally guides guests into Sri Lanka's most dramatic landscapes and natural habitats for elephants, sloth bears and crocodiles as well, in the utmost comfort, thanks to his former career as a first class airline cabin manager. Setting Noel's safaris to Yala and Wilpattu National Parks apart however are not merely the Toyota jeeps customized with camera support points and powerful binoculars for every guest, nor the South African tents outfitted with king size beds, en suite bathrooms, cooling units and private decks, nor even the healthy homemade Sri Lankan cuisine and imported wines. "I don't want my guests to feel any difference," says Noel of his elite team, recognized for their expertise by leading travel agents and international publications including Robb Report, Tatler and How To Spend It. In close coordination, Noel and these equally attuned animal trackers and bird specialists lead twice-daily game drives - most see a leopard, often many -- while hornbills, kingfishers and peacocks flutter overhead. "Elephants may come to drink at the waterhole by your tent," Noel tantalizingly warns his guests of all ages, honeymooners, families and friends among them, at his well appointed camps in the Sri Lankan jungle and high upon the Knuckles Range where nature photography lessons, cooking classes and equatorial stargazing are among the additional activities on offer amidst these timeless natural surroundings. ... more   less
