We had a wonderful time at this very special place due to the amazing team, great safari experience and unique ambience. It is not the right place for everyone (see below), but we loved it.
Safari and guide:
We booked a 3 night package and spent 2.5 days at Yala National Park and one morning at Bundala National Park. We saw a huge variety of animals and birds incl. leopards (3 times on 2 days, see photo), elephants and most other famous residents of the park. The biodiversity and landscape at Yala National Park is awesome and our guide Rumesh was an excellent guide and driver. If you are interested in birds and beautiful landscape, Bundala is also worth a visit. The tours were very well planned and we had an amazing lunch and 2 hour break inside the park at a very nice place near a river. This break is needed on a 12-14 hour safari day and it is great to experience both the early morning and the late afternoon in the park (perfect light for photography and most animals are more active). Before departure at 5 a.m. you will just get a Nescafe or tea, but you will have packed breakfast and plenty of snacks and fruits on the jeep too.
Team, accomodation and food
The service of the entire team was excellent. If you let them know what you want, they will do everything possible to customize the experience for you. We loved the wide selection of vegetable curries from chef Isha and they arranged special dishes for us even if the planned theme of the evening was different, like e.g. BBQ. The ambience of the camp is unique and it really feels like a camp. Our room (Skynest) was very comfortable and special (canopy level above most trees). At night lamps are setup along the trail to the main building, but better bring a torch additionally. If you bring a several electronic devices (cameras, phones, etc.) to be charged at night, the two power sockets in the room might be insufficient. A power extention with multiple sockets might be a useful addition to the room.
Reasons to book or to stay away
If you want fast and reliable internet, a swimming pool, a wide selection of drinks or excellent coffee, you should chose another place. If you want to have a very special experience, if you like nature a lot and if you want to get out of the stressful urbon life, Leopard Nest will be a very good choice.
Thank you very much to the great team of Leopard Nest!

A unique kind of experience with an adventurous touch. We had such a great experience glamping at yala. Leopard nest is a place where you meet the nature's serenity and it's something refreshing to all the naturalists out there. Special thanks to the friendly staff and specially, to the site manager Mr.Geeth, who made us feel that homely feeling throughout the stay with immense care and support. Also the chef and the housekeeper Azwer did a great job. Everything including food is commendable and highly recommend this unique experience for all naturalists out there who seek pleasure in simple yet elegant atmosphere.Highly recommended 😘😘😘

There are two tree houses on this property - and if we were in one of these rooms sure our experience would have been quite different. We were in the family room (mix up with our reservation which was not the fault of the hotel) which was good but not great. Think the problem for us is that we have been on safari in Africa and unfortunately this set our expectations too high in terms of what we would get for the price we paid re: both lodging and safari. That being said, we loved the staff who went out of their way to be accommodating. Breakfast and lunch terrific. We stayed three nights. Two would have been more than enough

We had a lovely stay at the Sky Nest. It was a unique experience living in the jungle. Staff were very helpful and friendly and food was simple, but yummy!
There is no wifi available in the property and mobile signal is also not that great, which is understandable as we are in the middle of the jungle.
If you are looking for a luxury hotel stay then this might not be the option, but if you are into a jungle glamping experience then you will love this location!

Me and My husband stayed in lepored nest during our visit to yala national park for 1 night in the Sky Nest during august 2020!!

I’m not saying it’s really good ! To be honest it was not what i had in my mind when i go there ! Pictures on the internet are bit too exciting than the reality , but a good spot for a wild glamping experience.

Room was bit too packed but considering it’s in the middle of a jungle, I guess that’s ok. Bathroom was ok , but a smell was coming through out our stay!!
Due to the unpredictable weather ( they said that ) , we didn’t have dinner under the stars neither breakfast outside.

Meals are ok , but there was a huge issue on the cleanliness of their plates and glasses. We had to ask them to re-wash them most of the times.

We saw cats’ hair on our plates as well as cats walking on the bbq grill and pans while we were having dinner !! So the meals felt so disgusting!!

They arranged an early morning safari for an additional price and safari was good!

My husband and I booked our stay at the Leopard's Nest to celebrate our honeymoon. We were impressed with how ECO conscious the hotel is. The manager Lakshitha, and the staff, Geeth & Nilantha were attentive, respectful and friendly our entire stay. Chef Nilantha cooked us some delicious meals from BBQ to Sri Lankan Cuisine. The staff made sure our needs were met and were happy to assist in ensuring our stay was amazing. They always had a smile on their faces and went above and beyond to make us happy. This was our first time glamping and it was an incredible experience. We highly recommend Leopard's Nest to anyone who is looking to experience nature with comfort.

We stayed here for 1 night, family of 3, we didn’t arrive till after 7pm so very dark, we got picked up from the manager at the bottom of the track as it’s very bumpy. We received a welcome drink and asked what time we would like dinner, which was bbq food, we had a quick wash and change then walked down to there dining area where the manager was cooking. We had starters, mains but didn’t want dessert. We was told not to walk about in the dark but day light was ok. We did feel like we was being watched as we ate and sat for a couple of drinks, which can be a little uncomfortable. We were the only guests there. We went to our room around 10pm. The room was very nice, main bed has netting around but put up bed did not. We ask for breakfast for 9am, we went down earlier to get hot drinks and was told we were early, made us feel like we should still be in our room. The breakfast however was a very good size, toast, omelette, bacon, cake, bread, fruit.
The premise is run by a generator, there is no WiFi as stated. This place is ok for a nights stay, it could maybe have light back ground music while having dinner, and needs door mats as it’s quite wet up there.
It’s very very quite.

We stayed two days at the Leopard Nest and it was such an exhilarating experience. Our holiday was relaxing and close to nature.

Best of all was the BBQ dinner in the jungle under the stars. The staff made sure to arrange the dinner in a romantic and magical setting, complete with gas lamps for that extra rustic touch, as my friends were celebrating their anniversary that weekend.

Their Sky Nest suite is highly recommended for a couple who is on their honeymoon or their anniversary.

The campsite manager Mr. Geeth tried
his best to make us comfortable and happy with the service that he and his team provided.

Unforgettable Experience at Leopard Nest Hotel! The eco-friendly concept, combined with the stunning natural surroundings, made our stay truly special. The spacious and tastefully designed rooms provided a perfect retreat after thrilling safaris in Yala. The attention to detail from the attentive staff was exceptional, and the on-site facilities, including the pool and dining area, added to the overall comfort.
