My first time at the Surfer was a year and a half agi and I had to returned 2 more times since then, 2 to 3 weeks at a time, met new friends every time. I never surfed before my first visit and I now go on surf trips with friends I met over there. The teaching is super well organised and adapted to your level as your progress. Lahiru (the owner) is taking super good care of everyone and every time I went, he had improved something on his camp. Lahiru helped me choose my first surf board and also saved me some money as he knows everyone in the business. That last time I went, Sadly the stupid COVID virus started messing with everything. Lahiru and his staff made sure everyone was okay and accommodated so many people that had to change their plans. As soon as travel restrictions are lifted, I am booking my next trip to the Surfer. REALLY... stop looking and just book it!

Guess I don't need to tell I liked the stay at the surfer :) The first time for me at the Surfer was new years eve and the following 2 weeks. I had good surf sessions, improved a lot and found new friends. Thats why I decided to spend another 10 days in the camp in March. Eventhough there was the beginning of the Corona Pandemic: I again had a good time and it felt like having a second family. Everyone was taking care of eachother...

This was the perfect ending to my short trip to Sri Lanka. I originally arrived to the country to just try out surfing with maybe a few lessons but a friend suggested doing a proper stay for 5 days which I'm so glad I did. I did two lessons a day (recommend if you are a beginner) and was able to learn so much, especially having such great surf instructors. Yoga was also available twice a day for anyone who wanted to relax their muscles or even get a second/third workout in. There were lots of delicious food options, especially the traditional Sri Lankan food which I highly recommend. The rooms were air conditioned and spotless, I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. I've met so many wonderful people whom I hope to keep in touch with. Maybe we can all do a reunion there again!

I think Surf and yoga is the perfect combo! When I arrived I was greeted by such beautiful smiles extremely welcoming staff and guests I instantly new I wanted longer there. not to mention the surfing and gorgeous yoga classes. Lovely music playing people hanging out in the big bright communal area having fun over breakfast lunch and dinner.. socialising in the evenings with a few beers. Each evening there was a different theme for fun times if you wanted it. And if you didn’t there was zero pressure to get an early night ready for the waves the next day. The food was absolutely incredible.. the standards were high there and then menu was so good. Gorgeous swimming pool to catch rays inbetween surf if you didn’t want sand in ya toes. I stayed in dorm. Again a higher standard than your average dorm.. single beds not bunks which were Cleaned daily and the perfect location minutes from the beautiful ocean. Watching people surf it got me so excited ! I originally booked for one week due to visa then I was able to extend my visa and planned to continue my stay for another month, even longer.. (untill the corona!!!) The surf teachers were incredible. Being a beginner it was a little scary out there getting bashed about by the waves.. the instructors were so good and professional with a lot of knowledge and I instantly felt safe out there. Surf in the morning. Finished my yoga in the evening. My idea of perfect! I was becoming so much more confident out there coming to the end of my week I was riding them and couldn’t wait for me.. So then the big C took over. I was Gonna ride this virus out over there (literally and physically) until day by day it was becoming a bit more unpractical- or was it ?! Like the whole world was freaking out I kept my calm till the end untill I thought okayyyy maybe it’s my time to temporarily pause this experience and head to more comforting surroundings at this crazy time. Lhiru was so thoughtful and helpful during this whole time. I can’t wait to pick up where I left off when the world has settled and is buzzing again. See you back again soon surfers crew. Thank you for my incredible experience ♥️ 10/10
