My husband, daughter and I visited Sri Lanka in March and stayed three nights at the Cape Weligama Resort. We arrived after a long car ride and were immediately delighted with the location of the hotel and the way it is laid out. We were staying in a villa, which shared a pool

Room was one of the best ever with proximity to one of the salt water pools. Wandering peahen with her chick was a bonus. From there went on a fabulous whale watching trip in a privately hired catamaran. Only problem food was not up to standard of a Relais & Chateaux hotel

We only stayed one night in February 2019 to meet up with fellow travellers. We had the chef's table at $100 per head that was thought to be slightly overpriced although the food was good, it could have been excellent. The bungalow had a good sized plot with a shared pool with

I was told by my friends about this place and I wanted to check the place out. At first I was taken back by the price of the Ocean Villa I booked. But I went to the property with an open mind. I don’t have enough words to explain how amazed I was from the time I entered the

Just saw the second part of your question now; there are several nearby places where you can see the fishermen on stilts, but be warned, there will be someone collecting a tip in advance if you try to take a photo.

Hi yes we do offer whale watching excursions from our on site Adventure Centre. Usually between November and May. And the stilt fishermen are close by, walking distance along the beach at Cape Weligama.

Hi, we look forward to your visit. Half board includes an a la carte multi course breakfast and either lunch or dinner. Since the breakfast is lavish you would likely have dinner with us. This is an elegant three course a la carte gourmet event at the Ocean Terrace. Drinks are not included. Our Adventure Centre is by east beach and offers a range of paid activities including whale watching usually from November to May. See you soon...

Dear hotel staff or higher management of Resplendent Ceylon, With a sad heart I have to ask you whether messages like below (for this and another hotel of yours, I might also post it there) User: Anne H (TA Profile anneh5027) "Hi there, I would recommend Weligama over Mirissa as many resorts/hotels have been demolished due to recent events. However, Weligama is much safer and kid friendly to spend your holidays. I visited Sri Lanka just a few months back with my family and it was just amazing! During our stay one of the locations we visited was Weligama as we had heard many good reviews about the area. We opted to stay at this luxury beach resort called Cape Weligama where they warmly welcomed us in the true Sri Lankan way. We chose to stay at the Ocean Grand Villa which was overlooking the grand Indian Ocean with a large verandah. It was the perfect weather to take a walk along the golden costal of Weligama with the waves hitting your feet. This resort is perfect for a couple or even a family outing. You could check them out on: Hi there, If you are visiting Sri Lanka, Yala is a must go - to tourist destination to spot its exotic wildlife including elephants, leopards and polar bears. During our visit to Yala, we stayed at Wild Coast Tented Lodge run by Resplendent Ceylon hotels as we have got good recommendations on it. This is flawlessly located between the ocean and the jungle and is also very close to the wild animals! I can assure you it’s safe though. Their accommodations are luxury tented camps called ‘Cocoons’ & ‘Urchins’ which I think is a unique concept. While at our stay, the naturalist at the hotel took us around to educate us on the exotic animals that resided in the Yala National Park. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodated to all our needs. You could check them out on: Hope you found this useful!" are in any way linked to you. At least it is a fake tourist (she or he has posted this crappy selfpromotion numerous times over the last 1-2 years, every time with a different username and every time 3-4 Resplendent Ceylon properties). Or is it even an employee? Without a clear and strong distancing yourself from practices like these, which are against TA guidelines and constitute deceipt, I don't think any tourist should consider booking at Cape Weligama or another Resplendent Ceylon property. Tnx for your time, Erik - TA Destination Expert for Sri Lanka
Hi there Erik, I can understand your grievances against this possible fake review. It is unethical if this is the case and I hope TA can get to the bottom of it. I would however suggest readers disregard that review and listen to the many legitimate reviews such as my own. I did stay at Cape Welligama in September 18 - The staff were amazing, the location is fabulous and accommodation superb. I highly recommend it for anyone. I don't think because of one possible fake review all staff should be judged in the same light, they are lovely people.
