This tranquil accommodation in Weligama is one of the best places to stay in the south of Sri Lanka. In Sinhala, era eliya means sunshine, an apt name for a beachfront accommodation nestled in the swaying palm groves in Southern Sri Lanka. Eraeliya sits in a large, spacious garden clad with coconut palms, tropical flowers, and patches of pink bougainvillea. It opens up to the turquoise blue waters of the Indian Ocean. Eraeliya has direct access to Jungle Beach in Weligama, which is a great place for a swim in the ocean throughout the year. There are eight different accommodation options, from their Ambalama Pavilion nestled in the big garden to a gorgeous beach chalet a few steps away from the beach and the large spacious Villa Walauua with a fully equipped kitchen. We stayed in the Ramaya Suite in Villa Bawana. It was a carefully curated space with chic interiors and touches of splendor written all over it. We loved the large four-poster canopy bed, the marble bathtub, and the walk-in shower in the large, spacious bathroom. What makes Eraeliya unique is the small, thoughtful touches all around the property. Think of fully bloomed yellow orchid pants housed in terra-cotta pots dressing your room’s vintage-chic coffee table. Exquisite chandeliers hang from the raised ceilings. Original modern artwork and ancient Kandyan-era paintings fill the walls of each house.

We went with friends and booked the villa " walawwa" which had 2 bedrooms , nice view of the sea and a big varanda where we had our meals. This villa was so close to the sea and the sound of the sea was so soothing.Wish we could go to the beach from the hotel.we had to go out and walk to go to the beach which was very nice.Food was good , our villa is nicely decorated and cosy.went for a massage and had one of the best massages i had from Roman. We had a very pleasant stay.

My stay at Eraeliya villad was absolutely delightful. The well trained hospitable staff, the tasty food, the location, the beautifully decorated room overlooking the sea... Everything was perfect. I strongly recommend the avocado eggs for breakfast. One of the best I have had. Small area of improvement would be the ambiance during evening time, but again I understood that most guests enjoy their private time inroom or nearby restaurants or activities. Once again everything was superbe, the attention is given to each details. True definition of luxury.

Stayed 2 nights during our recent trip around the island Photos posted online were spectacular and we wanted to try a smaller boutique style accommodation. While the villa and setting is indeed wonderful , we started to get a different perspective as we looked closer . TV programs not available as payments not up to date . Pool water was a little murky and cushions were not available for poolside chairs . We had not paid for breakfast as part of our deal but there was no breakfast , lunch or dinner option available even as an add on . You are basically living independently with basic housekeeping duties tended to. The final straw on check out was being unable to settle bill electronically and being asked for cash , we had not been advised of this on arrival otherwise we could have found the time to go to a bank. The best part was then talking to the ‘ manager ‘ Ms Julie who never uttered an apology for the inconvenience, and tried to twist the situation to make it sound like it was our fault . ‘ At this stage I was perplexed at the standard and attitude and found some comfort in many previous comments from visitors , whereby Ms Julia also seemed incapable of apologising and obviously has a thin skinned knee jerk reaction to any feedback and fires back with silly excuses , as no doubt she will do here. First class potential , third class reality

We stayed here with our friends for 12 nights in April and it was without a doubt the best hotel stay we have ever had. Everything about Eraeliya is perfect, from the rooms, the view, the location and of course the staff. Those who work here are the most friendly, smiley people you could wish to meet and they made our stay wonderful. We will most definitely return to this little piece of paradise and hope that Jerome and everyone else will still be there. Eraeliya were also excellent in catering for a vegan diet and breakfast was incredible. How soon can we come back?
