First of all: in my opinion it's completely safe to travel to Sri Lanka . You will be picket up at the airport from the staff that drives you to Barberyn Beach. There you will be welcomed with a refreshing fresh pressed juice and accommodated to your room. I had a lovely room with a great view. It's an absolutely wonderful Resort with Swimmingpool, great surrounding and non touristic beach were you can take nice walks. The staff is super professional, friendly and lovely! You will experience lots of different Ayurvedic Treatments adapted to your person and health needs! The food is incredible! There is rich and various and buffet for breakfast and lunch, prepared with love and a dream for all eyes and obviously taste! I can't wait to go back and highly recommend it to everyone! Thank you very much to the whole staff of Barberyn Beach!!!

Two weeks of organised but also relaxed health orientation. It's not an extreme experience, but a great way to revive and refocus yourself. Don't go if you are already a health nut or someone who needs lots of things to do all the time.....a typical day started with yoga, breakfast, put on a green fabric wrap and go to your massage, herb wrap, acupuncture, herb bath....then lunch...then swim...then read...then yoga....then dinner....read....then bed. There is very little to do beyond those things. A few afternoon trips (e.g. to Colombo). Go there for a break between changing jobs, to revive yourself after an intense year of the kids / relatives / divorce. I loved it, and am going back.

This was my first foray into Ayurvedic medicine and was a fantastic experience. This is the kind of place you come for recuperation of body, mind and soul. The setting - surrounded by peacocks, numerous tropical birds and monkeys was beautiful. I never knew monkeys could be innocent and friendly rather than the vicious creatures elsewhere in Asia. Enjoying Barberyn does inevitably involve a degree of surrender to whatever treatments/ foods are recommended for you, doing what the doctor says, and spending a large proportion of your time having treatments such as acupuncture, incredible massages and various detox treatments. Therefore if you have a very clearly defined idea of what you want to do on your holiday you may find this quite restrictive, but I found it immensely restorative. There is daily yoga if you wish and some meditations classes which we didn’t attend. The only day trip we did (due to treatments and just wanting to rest) was the tea plantation, which was well worth a visit. The food was exceptional - from discovering new fruits every day for breakfast to the incredible selection of veggie curries it was just amazing. I never imagined my carnivorous husband would manage over a week without meat, but he actually loved it so much we’ve come back doing Meat Free Mondays and learning to cook our own Sri Lankan style vegetarian / pescatarian dishes - miraculous! Other reviewers have complained that the staff didn’t speak much English, but we found them to be all very friendly, do their best, and where there was a communication difficulty they found someone who could help - so it was not a big problem at all. This is a truly special place, and worth visiting if you need some real time away from it all to rest and be restored - to whatever degree you’re willing.

A simple and authentic Ayurveda hotel. The hotel is not luxurious, not entertaining but real in its approach to give a relaxing and completely focused Ayurveda experience. Everyone seemed to be repeat visitors so that says basically everything. If you are in need of natural medicine with a very serious and honest philosophy then this is a great place to go. If you are looking for a nice vacation with an a la carte restaurant, bar and entertainment then look further. Highly recommended for those people in need.

Stayed for 16 days. Hotel provides free pick and drop from the airport or anywhere you are in Colombo to Welligama. The drive is about 2:30 hours. Hotel is beautiful and away from the city. Rooms are nice and some offer air conditioning but you’ll have to pay extra . But it’s not recommended to live in the AC environment. As soon you checkin , you go for your consultation and you’re given your daily schedule of medications and massage and any other treatment that is required. It’s a daily ritual of waking up early, and going in for your acupuncture, then a rhythmic massage by two attendants, then a Herbal patch treatment and then a herbal bath. Every treatment is about 20-25 min max. After first 3 days you are ready for your special treatments. It Could be an enema for two days to clean your insides. Shirodhara or short shirodhara for your inner mind, Nasal path cleanliness with hot oil poured into your nose and all other kinds of treatments depending upon your condition . You’d be exhausted by the mid of he day. Also you’re supposed to eat according to your treatments and every food item is labelled to let you know what you can and cannot have . There is food police at the dining areas and they watch if you’re deviating from your diet . All your tables are marked so you only sit on your designated spot . Food is amazing and it’s a buffet spread for breakfast and lunch. Dinner is small portion s and served on the table . Fish is the only meat they serve besides tons of fruits, vegetables and amazing vegetarian food you’ll ever have . Their vegi pizza tastes like meat, desserts are plenty and you cannot stop yourself from eating . The pool is a 5 min walk and is a great place to relax and get fresh juice served to you for free. The beach is not that great as the tide is too rough. The staff is very friendly and always there to serve you. Some visitors were there for the 6 th time . Plenty of repetitive customers . There are daily excursion trips for free and you can visit the local towns and nearby places . Go if you’re an Ayurveda follower and then stick to your learnings , otherwise if you’re going to live life as usual, no point wasting money. They will give you some potions to take away which last for about two weeks . Consider this as your body overhauling and oil change. If you maintain it well. It would operate further without major problems.
