Had the time of my life here. Spent in total more than 2 months during the corona times. They have one of the best matrasses of the Sri Lanka hostels. The AC rooms are amazing. + Razlan (the manager) is the best; very helpful and speaks very good english and is very clever. Feels sad to leave this place

Literally the best hostel. I was travelling through Sri Lanka for 2 months. Was supposed to travel around south coast going from town to town with a new hostel every town. I went Hikkaduwa, Mirissa, Tangalle but then I came to Weligama and found Rockstel Hostel. I was supposed to spend one day there. This one day became 2 1/2 weeks, every day I was convinced I would leave the next day but every morning had to rebook another night. It became a running joke around the hostel that everybody would always say “one more day”. Me and many others overstayed our original plan because the place has such a good atmosphere- hostel visitors but also more importantly the staff. They’re so accommodating and friendly. I feel bad not mentioning all of them so I will just name new friend Laki. Laki is the hostel manager and the best man. He’s very professional but also a great guy who will often hang out with everyone, he’s part of the party but also will give you helpful local tips(never any money included(which is common)). Honest great man. I had some medical surf troubles at the end and he helped me out in the hospital (as an Englishman but Sinhalese is poor to say the least) speaking to the local staff, visited me and brought me food. He did this all In his own time because of his big heart. Again, the atmosphere at this hostel was amazing. It’s also a very good location near the beach and a local supermarket. It’s very affordable and the rooms have comfy beds, air conditioning(important!), warm showers and is clean. Can’t recommend this hostel enough. The south coast isn’t too big, if you want to travel around it I would recommend staying in Rockstel Weligama and travelling each day to a new place. Or just stay in Weligama, it’s so good! Coming back next year

I have been to many countries and this hostel has a huge place in my heart. My friends and I stayed for a week, left, and ended up coming back because we missed it! The staff is incredible! The family vibe created is unlike any hostel I have been too, and we all discussed it. Anyone and everyone here is family! The rooms are clean, the laundry service is good, the roof and outside area are perfect to chill or party!

this hostel feels like home. Perfect place to meet other backpackers, and enough space to relax and chill. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The location is perfect, 3 min from the beach, supermarket, shops and restaurants. the rooms & bathrooms are very clean. We had amazing family diners, karaoke nights, game nights, yoga lessons, always good entertainment and hospitality. “The tan goes away , but the beautiful memories stay” I always will come back. Thank you so much.

It's a very sociable hostel - you will meet many friends while doing yoga, playing Caron or joining the activity evenings (volleyball night etc. organized by the hostel). It has also a lot of different balconies/garden/living rooms to relax and be by yourself if you want. The beds are big and comfortable & you can cook in the kitchen. It's in a calm area, 5 minutes from a huge supermarket and 7 from the beach. Laki, is such an awesome manager - he takes care of everything!!! If you have a problem he'll make sure to help you in the best way he can. Or he takes you to parties ;) I would defenetly go back!
