Club Palm Bay is often lauded for its exceptional service, with staff members who are consistently described as friendly and attentive. Nestled in a serene, picturesque location close to the beach, the hotel offers guests a tranquil atmosphere complemented by live music and lush gardens. While the spacious rooms boast beautiful views, there's a common consensus that they could benefit from modernization.
The hotel's cleanliness and amenities, including the pool and food options, receive positive remarks, although some guests suggest improvements in room service and accessibility. Opinions on the hotel's value for money, however, are divided.

We are the first group of quarantine and we had a nice location near to the lagoon..( room 128) first few days there were some technical issues. Then last week we had a excellent service from hotel Mangement .. i saw few fishermen rapidly came in to the lagoon and it was an nice experience for us specially in the quarantine period . Most of the fishermen are not considering about the cleanliness of this butifull lagoon and their garbage and fishing stuffs remained on this nice lagoon. I think hotel Management should consider about this problem and cleaning service should continue on day by day .weekly cleaning service is not applicable for the cleanliness of this most valuble hotel icon. i wold like to tender a high class recomndation for this hotel. Thank you

We (myself and my wife) have stayed here for a period of 14 days (Jan 24th to Feb 7th 2021) for mandatory quarantine purpose after our arrival in Sri Lanka.
Our stay here at Club Palm Bay has been so great, we never thought that we would enjoy our quarantine period this much 😃
Very special thanks goes to these awesome...kind hearted staff members Mr.Dinusha, Mr.Thamil and Mr.Supun, who were tend to our every need to make sure that our stay here was most comfortable and hassle free. Kudos ! 👏🏼🙌🏼
Rooms were very spacious, clean and orderly more like large sized suit with terrace opening to garden area and had all the amenities like free WiFi, Cable TV, Hair Dryer, Electric Kettle, Refrigerator, Dressing Table with Desk, Cupboards etc..
Food were flavorful and portions are more than enough for me 😌 Because I’m vegan as per my request they served me Sri Lankan vegan meals, desserts and snacks which were sooo good.
And to mention that above everything else we noticed that Club Palm Bay and its staff strictly following the new normal safety guidelines during covid 19 pandemic period to ensure safety 😀
We like to express our appreciation to Managers, Mr.Lahiru and Mr.Mangala for service and care we received at Club Palms Bay during 14 days period🙏🏼
Once things get back to Normal, we hope to see you all again 😀

As I have heard about this place before as one best places for an annual trip, I have selected this hotel for our annual trip. We entered to the hotel in the afternoon and the Lagoon and Hotel look so charming. This is the reason I put 3 scores for this. At the check-in, we were asked to wear a hand band and asked to keep it until we check out. I personally do not like to wear any, but can't help here. I recommend if someone books this hotel, ask the reservation team to allocate Lagoon view rooms since they have an attractive view. It was a rainy day but no one at the hotel gave us an umbrella to walk in to the room from the reception. The front chairs at the room have not been cleaned for days. But inside of the room was clean, but cannot say it's up to the standard. Our office crew was put on triple rooms, but at the entrance they were like double rooms and even no extra bed put on the room. We happen to request them all from the reception, but the house keeping takes more time to arrive. In the morning, i have requested for tea bags, but they has only come after 1.30 Hrs from the request. The lunch and breakfast are ok but not much varieties. The staff at the restaurant are not helpful. The dinner was not in good standard. Many of local day out crowds at the hotel in the weekends. You never can find peace at this hotel in a weekend. Honestly speaking i cannot recommend this hotel to anyone if the management keeps the same service standards going forward.

I was brought to Club Palm Bay Hotel, Maravila to be quarantined and it was not my choice as I did not know where I would be accommodated. Today is my 12th day and thought of sharing my experience in living here. I have seen many posts on social media, commenting on how people have been disappointed on their stay in many places but honestly this could be the best place to choose from if you are a solo or a couple.
On arrival - briefing was conducted and cleared any issues then and there.
Arriving in the room - with a surprise, everything had been well arranged for someone to live for 14 days without any further assistance
The room is huge (one of the largest room I ever stayed in a hotel). It has space to accommodate even 6 persons comfortably.
The room had been prepared with towels, shampoo, shower gel, a basin and soap to wash cloths by ourselves. A bottle of disinfectant cleaner to clean other places in the room, hand soap and even a a piece of sponge to clean the sink.
Sufficient quantity of sugar, creamer, coffee and tea sachets. Cups, glasses, plates and cutlery. Also a broom to keep the room cleaned by yourself.
Dustbin bags were provided to leave your waste.
There is a TV with movie and other channels to kill the time.
Water is placed (14 bottles initially) and If needed more, it’s provided.
There is a WhatsApp number to communicate with the staff 24x7.
After a week, new towels and bedsheets were provided (we need to fix the bed by ourselves as no one enters the room).
The chef and the team is doing a great job. Provided food on a weekly menu. They also make us to boost up our appetite by giving us so called “viskiringna’ ganakatha, kimbula buns in addition to the international cuisine. The food was delicious and you can hardly eat three meals a day since each meal comes in many different items. Your choice of food can be discussed on arrival
The hotel staff are very friendly and attentive. They never forget to have a word, maintaining the 3 feet distance. Special thanks to Mr. Sarath (Housekeeping) and Mr. Sameera (Food & Beverage) for checking on me very often whether everything is in order in terms of food and accommodation.
In addition to the hotel staff, there are a few Army personnel. staying in the hotel to make sure that the guidelines are followed up. They are also very friendly and helpful. An Army officer called Mr. Rajaguru (CCMP), personally visited me and helped me when I was seeking assistance to get my laptop fixed. It could have been a disaster to stay without my laptop for 14 days.
Overall, this stay was amazing despite being stagnated in the room and I highly recommend for someone who is searching for a place to be quarantined in the future.
All the very best for you team of Club Palm Bay.

Beautiful property and excellent service all around!
Despite being a large commercial hotel, unlike other large properties where your just another guest, at Club Palm Bay the individual care and attention metted to us was excellent! special thanks to the Asst. manager and the FO team.
The staff took great care to use appropriate measures given the current situ..i noticed the waiter sanitise his hands between each serving.
Despite having just a few guests they gave us a delicious spread of food at the lunch and breakfast buffet..kudos to the chef and his team.
The hotel provides for elders too..the have wheel chairs and ramps all around..thats very useful if your travelling with older people.
The scenery is relaxing ..surrounded by nature and the lagoon..very idyllic.
Great place for the kids too...lots of activities..Table tennis, tennis, football, play area etc,
Excellent place for a full family outing.

I stayed here during my 2-week mandatory quarantine and the review is only for my room, service, and food.
My room was spacious, had a seating area a terrace, and a beautiful view of the lagoon where I was able to watch the wild birds who frequented.
My bathroom was large, disable friendly and the shower had plenty of hot water.
We were served a set menu of Sri Lankan food that was well prepared and delicious. Chef Fernando was very accomodating to my food intolerances and took the time to make healthy and tasty alternatives for me.
The service by everyone was excellent, the team who brought my food, the team who picked up the recyclables, the team at the reception, the healthcare team and the team at the kitchen went above and beyond to make my stay here very pleasent.
I especially want to Thank and recognize Chef Feranado, Azeeze, Akalanka and Dunuge for taking such great care of me.
I look forward to my next visit.

Dear Valued guest, Thank you so much for your genuine review. Apologies for the delay in attending. It is a pleasure to see that you have had an amazing time with us. With the outbreak of corona threat we have compelled to stick to a lot of precautions in safeguarding each guest at our resorts. It is very unfortunate that the departures have become a bit distant and awkward, but we should make certain of our valued guests safety at all cost. Trust we catered you some quality time in a tranquil destination. We are looking forward to welcoming you back in a healed world with more memories at our charming location. Once again, let us thank you for the trust and faith in us... Stay safe... Sincere regards

First of all what to mention is, that the food offered is really amazing, a great selection. Little Minus point: no fresh fruit juices in the morning (only the sweet artificial once). Whom i really want to point out is Mr Ranaweera - he is the Sous Chef. Since I’m vegan he all the time shows me the food I can eat, cooked separately and gave me the last lunch a really great surprise with traditional Sri Lanka food (vegan). All the time it was delicious, well prepared and hot (lot of hotels only offer warm to cold food). Mr. Ranaweera made my holiday to a very good one, and I really appreciate his effort. If you have food preferences, ask for Mr Ranaweera he will definitely help you out!
The hotel itself is okay, all staff (waiters, reception, … ) showed very good effort. We booked all inclusive: for this I expected more selection - or let’s say better quality of the cocktails offered. They (cocktails offered in AI) almost tasted the same, and comes all with sparkling water. The beer there was good.
The room seems a little bit old styled, with old furnitures. The bathroom was okay. But who will stay on holiday in their rooms 😉
The swimming pool was amazing. We were told that this pool is the second largest of Sri Lanka. Not too cold, not too warm. Sometimes they play music, sometimes not. For all inclusive it would have been nice if waiters would come to the sun beds and ask for drinks (I was used to that with other hotels).
The beach of the hotel is also a minus point. For this you need to cross the street, it’s very small and during our stay no drinks there were offered.
What was also annoying for me were the dogs, but this has nothing to do with the hotel!!! Some free dogs followed us all the time, also in the hotel area. They were not dangerous, but you never know…
The location of the hotel is not the best, if you are planning to travel around Sri Lanka. To reach national parks, sights it might take you hours to get there. We rent for three days a scooter and explored a little bit by our self. Jay (a restaurant owner at the opposite site of The main entrance of the hotel) can help you out with that. Also he arranged us a car driver for two days (it’s cheaper to do this instead of having tours, and in the end it’s the same plus money saved).
All in all I really was satisfied with mr Ranaweera, the food and the pool here 😀

We were welcomed back again after 7 years with the most welcoming of greetings,
We had a beautiful lagoon view room which was kept clean daily by the room staff are air on was not getting a cool as it should and within five minutes maintenance arrived to sort it out .
Gardens always look fantastic and swept daily by the garden staff and greeted we were greeted every morning with a good morning sir and madam .
Bar staff were fantastic special mention to
Sanjee ,Isuranga, Danauska , Thamil and Shanaka (Fanta boy ) we have made some friends for life nothing was to much trouble .
Restaurant , Food was great always something to eat I think I gained a few pounds ,plenty of choice of food something for everyone.
Pool,
This is one of the biggest pools if not the biggest in Sri Lanka ,
Cleaned daily by some of the nicest guys you will meet .
The main man who’s name after two visits I still don’t remember has been looking after the pool and guests for 25 years and he recognised us straight away .
We were lucky enough to be invited as repeat guests to the staff recognition awards ceremony and we were treated like royalty by Gamini the manager and very enjoyable afternoon.
We also had a beautiful meal made for us as private guests of the assistant manager Mr Zameer Deen which was not expected .
Reception and bell boys
We exchanged money at reception again always met with a smile and nothing was too much trouble for are friends Oshan the captain.
Mercury Holidays
Dexter are rep was very friendly and helpful we only went on one excursion as we had previously done the others on are trip to Sri Lanka before.
Sri Lanka
This is a beautiful country probably one of our favourite places we have visited .
Although the country is going through the most difficult of times with the government the people we have met have always had a smile upon their faces .
If people are put off to travel due to covid please don’t be the country has a good vaccination programme most people where masks and have had all vaccinations if they work within the tourist industry they have started the fourth round of vaccinations .
The majority of English people tend to visit the south for the water sports but we prefer marawila as it is quieter The club Palm Bay is a little hidden Sri Lankan gem why not see for yourself.

Inland bungalows look at the amazing gardens which are a pleasure to stroll through . The staff have a lovely attitude and customer services always a smile of welcome. The restaurant has a vast choice of food for everyone . Chef Aruna and his team have great abilities and can always arrange a 5 ⭐️ special a la carte meal at your request. The bar is a great social point in the evenings . Costa ,Thamil and the team keep the drinks flowing all evening. Don’t forget to book a massage in the Auyavedic centre Pradeep for the men and Usher for ladies are a great choice. . The pool if you plan to relax is massive and perfect place to either relax or swim lovely and warm water and always
clear . The beach club is good for beach lovers but the currents can be strong at times for non swimmers Outside is a lovely fishing village that’s safe to wander through without any hassle. The hotels new GM Mr Channa is making plans for the hotel to go back to its original 5 ⭐️ rating and in the 3 weeks we were there you can see a difference already looking forward to our next holiday there . As the hotel is on the west coast midway in the country it’s perfect for tours north or south . . Sri Lanka has so much to see a beautiful country be sure to book a trip.

We are visiting at the end of April. Can anyone recommend any trips? We would like to visit Sigiriya
Yes sigiriya is a good place. It is a one day trip from Colombo. Also you could choose and go to one of the wild park like Yala. Kandy is another place to visit. Pinnawala elephant orphanage, zoo, and cultural Village, Peradeniya gardens. All these in the same route towards Kandy. If you like the beach then it is the down south like Hikkaduwa, Galle.
The hotel is very close to beach

Greater London, United Kingdom251 contributions57 helpful votesHi, is the resort on the beach? Is there a private beach? Is there a court for beach volleyball? Do they play beach volleyball every day?
Beach is right opposite side of the hotel. Yes they have a separate entrance to the beach and have water activities. Beach side volleyball court is there.
