Holiday inn suites has it all~ you can see where the winter Olympic games were held near the property, plenty of restaurants, cafes, and 24hr convenient stores scattered all over the 1st floor.
All the staff and guests practiced social distancing, masks were always required, and they checked your temperature (and QR code) upon entering and before breakfast too. I was hesitant at first about the breakfast buffet because of social distancing but all the tables were separated and everyone had to wear masks unless you were seated and eating.
The suite room was quite large, very clean, furnished, and the kitchen supplied all your kitchenware. The air-conditioning was superb, blackout blinds did their jobs, and the whole property was spotless and quiet. I would love to visit this place in the winter as the mountain lifts are literally right outside your suite room.
I don't think there's much to do in Pyeongchang area and if youre looking for a place to chill, eat, and enjoy the countryside, i absolutely recommend this place.
The staff is really helpful and the rooms were well kept and nice. It’s pretty awesome to look out your windows and see the skiers quipping down the mountain.
The location is also great to the restaurant offerings- many within walking distance.
If you want to go to a Slightly more challenging ski mountain, there is another right down the road within a five minute drive.
this hotel was awesome, the room so big, but the bed quiet small even I asked for king size bed, but i can tolerate since is just for 1 night.
I got mountain view room, so when i opened my window and go to the balcony, i can see snow everywhere, damn beautiful.
the food also delicious with many various menu.
they have their own park or area to play snow or play ski, just walk around 5 min to ski store and then u can play snow as much as u can
Ski rental and school just next to hotel. We didn’t have much luck with the ski instructor (inexperienced and just staring at blank space and couldn’t speak proper English. We struggled in the beginning and he was at the bottom of the slope watching other people ski. For 320k won (Family
Package), it wasn’t worth it. Probably the yong pyong ones are better. The slopes there are much better maintained and more enjoyable).
Our booking did not include breakfast and faces the parking lots.
Convenient stores and restaurants all around, even a cinema and a indoor water theme park.
The only issue we had with the hotel was that there were 3 of us staying and everyday we have to call and request for additional towel and water.
Pro:
Heated floor, so you dry wet ski jackets, gloves etc on the floor.
It was spacious with kitchen & living room.
Hotel breakfast is good but same food everyday.
Ski school lesson was good where you can get good speaking coaches.
Good choices of eateries
Cons:
Not hotel standard which they only provide hair shampoo, body wash, room slippers, bath towels & hand towels, hair dryer. You need to request for bath towels & slippers. Nothing more than that.
No daily cleaning. During our 3 nights, only 1 time cleaning.
The place is reasonably clean only. You can see dust in btw cupboard, tv cabinet.
While not a ski in and out resort, the walkability to amenities within the resort is very good and there is good variety of eateries to choose from and they are all great tasting!
Would love to come here again for another ski holiday.
And while you get to ski at Alpensia but there is a free shuttle bus to Yongpeyong ski resort which is the biggest in Korea. 10mins bus ride away. So you get two great ski areas just staying in one!
The shuttle bus arrived at mid-day. We were tired and asked if we can do an early check-in. No luck! So we stored our luggage with the concierge, and went for lunch.
We paid extra for a slope view, which we probably shouldn't have. We were not used to the cold, and hence the doors to the balcony were kept tightly shut most of the time.
The futons given were quite thin, and the floors were insufficiently heated to provide the comfort of ondol rooms. It was totally unlike our experience we had previously at a hanok. We woke up aching, and asked concierge if we can have additional futons for layering. It comes with a cost. Quite expensive too.
Overall, the hotel did not give us the feeling that we are treasured as guests. It's an okay experience, but not fantastic.
