Came here for a Spiritual Conference. Beds were comfortable and bedrooms were spacious. The ensuite bathroom was nice and modern, though other toilet could have done with a makeover. The decor also could do with more authentic pictures. Rooms were cozy

Stayed in a family suite with kitchen and all. Really fun to have everyone in the family of 5 together. The distance from the apartment to the ski area is only 50m and we get to lug our ski stuff over. While not a ski in and out resort, the walkability to amenities within the resort is very good and there is good variety of eateries to choose from and they are all great tasting! Would love to come here again for another ski holiday. And while you get to ski at Alpensia but there is a free shuttle bus to Yongpeyong ski resort which is the biggest in Korea. 10mins bus ride away. So you get two great ski areas just staying in one!

We stayed 7 nights at the Holiday Inn Suites. There are 3 different types of accommodation here - the Suites (2-3BR), Resort (1BR and some variants with kids rooms), and the Intercontinental Hotel. The Intercont is obviously the luxury room part of the resort and across the road from the Holiday Inn. The Holiday Inn accommodation consists of several different buildings each containing different room configurations eg block 301 is 3BR apartments, block 201 is 2BR apartments. The various skiing and dining and shops options are all within different blocks in the village. Generally, the accommodation and "Ski House" are all nearest the slopes with restaurants, convenience stores and shops across the road in other blocks. Check-in for the Holiday Inn side is in one central reception building. Overall, it's a nice place to stay and ski. Not very challenging for advanced skiers - those should visit Yong Pyeong ski resort about a 5 min taxi ride away. Apparently accommodation is better at the Alpensia than Yong Pyeong but the skiing is definitely better there. The accommodation is fairly basic but adequate. We stayed in the 3BR apartment which has a large living room. Friends of ours took the 2BR and were in the block with the Ski House in it, so very convenient to just go downstairs to buy lift tickets and rent ski gear. Another group of friends stayed at the Intercont across the road. The rooms lack hanging hooks and makes drying ski clothes difficult. Floors are heated, so we ended up strewing clothes along various heated lines on the floor. You also need to request bath towels, which we found strange. Apparently there is some inconsistently applied policy to charge for towels, but we were not charged. There is a medical facility that does dish out some basic medicine - paracetemol, cough syrup etc but only one day's worth. The main issue with skiing here is that you need to buy a daily lift ticket and rent your equipment daily. This means that you get different equipment each day and need to spend time queuing up every day to rent your ski gear. Generally there is only a short queue, but there was a day where a school group came in and the queue was out the door and took about 45 mins for us to get to the counter. There is a 30% discount on lift tickets if you are staying at the resort, so don't forget to show your room card when buying lift tickets. The resort is generally quite Korean-centric - the staff in the lift ticket booth speak very basic English and front desk staff were only marginally better. You need to ask very basic questions and only provide them with basic information to get the message across eg when buying lift tickets, just say, "morning lift ticket, ski equipment, 2 adults one child... " - if you say any more, they will get confused. There is rumoured to be a ski club for ski lessons in English or other languages, but we couldn't find it. The in-house ski school has limited English instructors so you need to book early - like a day or two beforehand. Helmets are not compulsory but recommended - extra $6 charge for this.

We enjoyed our stay here in December 2021. The location is super convenient if you want to ski at Alpensia (a novice to intermediate level ski mountain). Staying at the hotel also nets you 30% off of lift tickets and equipment rental. The staff is really helpful and the rooms were well kept and nice. It’s pretty awesome to look out your windows and see the skiers quipping down the mountain. The location is also great to the restaurant offerings- many within walking distance. If you want to go to a Slightly more challenging ski mountain, there is another right down the road within a five minute drive.

We visited the same hotel some ten years back and decided to return after a very good stay. Getting through Korea VTL was laborious and complicated. the staff at Holiday Inn Alpensia and Suites were exceptionally helpful. Mr Dong HH personally helped me call the hospitals to check on swap test details. He also helped me to call the Korail to cancel and book new rides when I have a change in schedule. Knowing that we could not get into restaurants; he sought to find the ones we can. It is not easy to find good English speaker in Korea but Mr Dong speaks the language very well. His professionalism and friendly smile accentuate the warm hospitality of Holiday Inn. I will definitely go back again and recommend the hotel to my friends. In fact many of my friends have visited there after hearing what I said.

We stayed in the Alpensia during the off-season, i.e. as far removed in the calendar from the ski bums as you can get. I suspect this made the visit more pleasurable (i.e. you could park the car and see the scenery without joining the traffic jam on Mercedes-Benzes). The hotel was spacious, with polite staff and reasonable facilities. A proper bar would be a nice touch, but you can order drinks in the lobby area. The problem here is that your drinks are served in front of screaming teenage singers who are so out of tune that the any stray BTS or Black Pink talent scouts would turn the other way. I prefer a bit of background murmur and not the sound of cats mating. The restaurant was closed but the buffet was very good and had some unusually positive characteristics rarely found in buffets, such as warm food and lots of choice. The deserts were fabulous. There was also some wine and beer, but the person in charge of the drinks seemed to have been in the temperance movement and lectured us about serving ourselves - well, if you leave food and drink out in a buffet area, what the bleedin' 'ell do you think customers will do? The rooms were pleasant and spacious with nice views. Outside the resort was fairly quiet. There were a few eateries open and some of the attractions as well. One problem is that the swimming centre only allows you in if you swim in a mask - how ridiculous; this will not detract from catching covid. The area around the back of the hotel had been very pleasantly landscaped. All in all I would recommend the Alpensia for a stay, however I'll need to check it out in the winter season to see if it can cope with the cashed-up Seoul ski crowd.

It's been a while since we've been out due to this unfortunate pandemic. Averaging at least 3 to 4 trips to SE Asia, this was our 1st trip for the 2020 year and it was a great way to slowly (and carefully) ease our way into some sort of a vacation. Holiday inn suites has it all~ you can see where the winter Olympic games were held near the property, plenty of restaurants, cafes, and 24hr convenient stores scattered all over the 1st floor. All the staff and guests practiced social distancing, masks were always required, and they checked your temperature (and QR code) upon entering and before breakfast too. I was hesitant at first about the breakfast buffet because of social distancing but all the tables were separated and everyone had to wear masks unless you were seated and eating. The suite room was quite large, very clean, furnished, and the kitchen supplied all your kitchenware. The air-conditioning was superb, blackout blinds did their jobs, and the whole property was spotless and quiet. I would love to visit this place in the winter as the mountain lifts are literally right outside your suite room. I don't think there's much to do in Pyeongchang area and if youre looking for a place to chill, eat, and enjoy the countryside, i absolutely recommend this place.
