After a long ride from Yangon, a rather interesting ride in a crowded truck, and a short (if energetic) walk from the loading station, one is warmly welcomed by at the checkin desk, given a refreshing bottle of cool water and ushered to your room. Rooms are basic, but adequate and most importantly clean and the beds are comfortable. The water is hot and there is a TV and aircon, although it wasn’t necessary on this trip as it was quite cool already. The grounds are beautiful, full of scented flowers and pathways leading you down to the main building which has an area for wifi, although sitting on the balcony and chatting is a preferred event. The staff are very friendly and helpful, although the eagle eyes watching your every move over meals is a bit distracting, but plates are cleared immediately and you are attended to quickly, politely and eagerly! If you are looking for the hustle and bustle of a town centre, then this might not be the place for you, but if you want clean air and peace and quiet (the trucks stop in the evening), the this is the place to be, a halfway house between Kingpun and the Golden Rock itself. I enjoyed my stay here and would recommend at least one night as a break from the daily stress of getting around. One point to note, if you have a lot of baggage, or struggle walking uphill, then take the trucks to the top and change to one coming down which will drop you at the hotel. (The one-way system prevents them dropping you on the way up!…
After an exclusive means of transportation - an onboard truck adapted for the delivery of pilgrims, the hotel seemed like a paradise on earth - a really good hotel and close to the shrine. Of course, real pilgrims spend the night directly at the top blown by all the winds.
Coshy hotel with good international standard for travelers. Reception house with Restaurant, 4 guest houses with 6 Appartements and nice garden. Rooms well equiped and very quite. Dinner and breakfast with tasty regional food and drinks. All prices in US$. Very friendly staff and helpful office. You have to book in advance!
The Golden Rock is a great experience and a night at the Golden Rock Hotel was a great end to an exciting day. The room was well prepared and in a garden setting. We walked down from the Golden Rock to the hotel, which took about an hour and we had a warm welcome on arrival. The standard of service was superb. Both the evening meal and the breakfast were of a high standard and the free wifi was an added bonus.
From the exit of the cable car, about 3 min walking. There is a guy to stop you asking for paying 10,000 kyats for foreign visitor. No expectation because there only few hotel on the top of this mountain area. Most local people sleep on the floor of the pagoda ( maybe nice if there are stars). The room is just OK, similar to the $20 room of the hotel in other towns. But it is worth to stay overnight for the spectacular Golden Rock night light.
You have reviews of this great hotel so i will tell you about our tour of the Golden Rock. we went with Buffalo Tours which were just great they went out of their way to look after us ,our Guide was Ko Zaw Min Oo who i cant say enough good things about. Now Kyaikhityo or Golden Rock is a must see place if you are going to Myanmar its about 3 to 4 hours out of Yangon so it might be a great idea to stay at the Golden Rock Hotel for a night, the Golden Rock is and immense Bloulder perched precariously on the side of a cliff, make the walk up to its glittering facade and take in the incredible views you will love it, happy traveing.
Some people complain that this hotel rooms are pricey. THey are but this is best hotel near the Golden Rock and they are a must when you want to see the sunset . There are no better alternatives Nice views from the window. The clean hotel room provides the basics - shower with hot water, comfortable bed, etc. WiFi only works at the lobby but not in the room . Food in restaurant was OK. The staff is very polite and welcoming.
We were very happy with our choice! The top of the mountain is busy and loud, a 20 min walk down to this hotel was well worth it. It’s in the forest and very quiet. Wonderful friendly staff. Lovely terrace to have sundowners. Large spotless room with comfy bed. Nice big shower. There is good aircon but we didn’t need it. We slept with windows open( there are mosquito screens). Nice breakfast. Only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is the cost of the dinner - in dollars - we ate our own snacks. Nevertheless I recommend it and would stay here again.
There are at least two hotels under this name. Talking about the one right on top of the mountain about ten minutes to the Entrance of the pagoda it is necessary to say that we were there in summer but we should have taken a complete winter equipment like the Burmese do. Especially when staying Overnight in order to see the sunrise which in our case was not worth waiting for. The hotel offers little service at a maximum price. Cold shower, old toilet, thin walls. So thin in fact that the wind blew into the room. A sleeping bag open air is more honest. Breakfast a desolation in a windy hall. Maybe the ongoing restauration makes the pricy adventure worth going. For the time being: stay in the valley!
a place to go when you visit the Golden Rock a the top of the Mt. Yaiktiyo. The hotel is situated in the mountain forest, rather basic but clean, quite and a good restaurant with prefect service. We can certainly recommend it.
