We love staying at Yoma Cherry, and have done so now on several occasions. It is a beautifully designed hotel on a pristine cove a bit north of the "main" beach at Ngapali. The restaurant looks over the beach and is a great spot to watch the fishing boat action at either end of the day. The very comfortable rooms are at the back of the stunning, tranquil garden that has a lawn like a putting green, The owner, Sue, is a one-woman NGO who runs an English school for 800 (!) kids, and various other community programmes like "Trash Heroes" (hence the pristine beaches). She deserves to be supported, but the guests in her beautiful hotel are the real winners.
The first time ever being in Ngapali for our couple as well as the first-ever trip together for us and the first review ever written here on TripAdvisor. Both of us feel convinced that with its best value pricing and all the atmospherics it gives Yoma Cherry Lodge would be undoubtedly like a benchmark in any vacation place we are ever going to stay in our next trips together to virtually anywhere for the rest of our lives! Such is a strong lasting impression we had from every single detail of the unforgettable experience of staying at the lovely cozy YCL. The Burmese traditional crafts used in the neatly-furnished rooms and lodge buildings are there but to an extent that is perfectly balanced between tradition/antique and modernity, between functionality and aesthetics. The lodge staff are extremely helpful with anything we need, whether it be having to break a baggage lock for which we lost the key, or providing mosquito repellent, or arranging tuk tuk pickup. We had perhaps the most memorable breakfast setting of our lives twice on the balcony of the bar-restaurant of the lodge where we took lots and lots of photos with the beach and sea. We bet you'll definitely enjoy walking on those pleasant walkways in the charming garden area of YCL as well, anytime either with natural sunlight at day or with soothing ambient lightings at night. The sand slope in the bay area is quite smooth enough with crystal-clear seawater for you to float riding along the sea waves in rubber ring buoys for fun or seriously swim around. The beach area occupying the lodge is free of non-sea noises, which is perfect for those who love tranquility in enjoying the sea. The lodge restaurant provides affordable great foods with a nice sea view and beach vibes, but in case you wanna have various local food tastes at large, there are a couple of nearby restaurants about 5-10 minutes' walk away. Thandwe airport isn't that far from the lodge either, compared to most other hotels in Ngapali. The airport pickup driver of the lodge was almost like a local tour guide to us sharing insights about Ngapali and the city. Oh, the airport pickup car. That retro bus with beautiful vintage decor giving you mesmerising ride and lasting memories!…
Yoma Cherry Lodge is hands down my favorite place in Ngapali out of the 10+ hotels I have stayed in over the years. The location is great, the gardens are divine, the rooms are tasteful but most of all the service is unparalleled. Many of the staff have "grown up" with YCL through the English school run by the owner, and their attentiveness, attention to detail and willingness to help make all the difference. The restaurant is great and very affordable, and the daily rotation of happy hour drinks are delicious. No question the best value boutique hotel on the strip in my opinion. The two "extra large beach front " guest rooms at the front of the resort are definitely worth the splurge.
This was our final stop, after touring round the country seeing all the well-known tourist stops. We were efficiently met at the little airport serving Ngapali and whisked past the built up tourist hotel strip of the beach and on to the next bay, and to Yoma Cherry Lodge. It was immediately apparent we had chosen the perfect place - small, immediately friendly welcome by the staff and quiet luxury abound. We had a lovely, large room on the ground floor with outside sitting terrace. There are only 2 floors and about 15 rooms in total, all gathered around the gardens and restaurant building. It was lovely to wander to the restaurant terrace and take breakfast overlooking the beach and bay, watching some of the last fishing boats returning from the night's fishing and unloading their catches. The beach area is uncrowded and largely unspoilt - we had dinner one night in one of the 2 or 3 beachside open-air restaurants and of course the fish on offer was delicious, as it was in the Lodge's restaurant. As I write this, sitting in our now locked down world, I hope all at Yoma Cherry Lodge are well and that you will get your visitors back soon. I can only say that I can't recommend this place more highly if you are visiting Ngapali Beach; but go soon, as I feel sure this beautiful, unspoiled bay will not remain so peaceful for too many more years.…
Lovely hotel, set in beautiful grounds, wth the dining terrace over-looking the beach. Food was good and the mojitos even better...Happy Hour when the drinks are two-for -one i.e costing about $1 apiece. Unbelievable !! Rooms were spacious and tastefully furnished. We had a Garden Room with a terrace. For anyone interested, the hotel will arrange a visit to the English school a short distance behind the hotel on the same lane. It seemed that some of the waiters at the hotel had gone to school there and their English was excellent. PS Check out the patterns made by Sand Bubbler Crabs at the far end of the beach. Amazing little creatures!
The hotel is attractive and set on a beach . We had a first floor garden room and it was large with a balcony. The staff were excellent and food very good. The hotel is set back from the beach and either one sees the local fishing fleet unloading in front of the hotel as a local colour plus or an encumbrance meaning one has to walk along the beach to get an unencumbered swim. Similarly the ground level rooms facing the beach are either refreshingly close to the beach or constantly subject to passing guests and potentially noisy. Lovely hotel and we were glad we picked the room we did. My wife seemed to have non-stop manicures, pedicures and massages all of which she rated excellent and very reasonably priced.
Loved staying here excellent accommodation and location very peaceful .We spent last few days in Ngapali it’s a great place to get away from the main crowd .The staff are very helpful and make you feel at home
The hotel is set in a stunning location and has incredible views of the sea from the restaurant and sitting areas. The sunsets are incredible! The food is amazing with a wide range of dishes to chose from and delicious wines! The service is warm and professional from the local staff and over seen by the wonderful manager Sue. Can't rate this place and the people highly enough. 10 stars!!
We absolutely loved our six nights at Yoma Cherry Lodge - from the moment we were picked up at the airport to when we were dropped off. The hotel is spotlessly clean, has beautifully maintained grounds and right on a gorgeous beach. This is a beach hotel which has an air of elegance yet is casual and very comfortable. Our garden room was lovely. Large, comfortably furnished with a good size bathroom and terrace. You could wish for nothing more. All meals are served on a fab terrace overlooking the sea. Lunches were good with a wide menu of western and eastern dishes. The food was very good quality and reasonably priced. We had happy hour cocktails everyday - watching the sunset. There are other beach restaurants very nearby that offer a very good alternative. There are plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas on the beach. It's a busy local beach and it's fascinating to watch the locals go about their work. You do not get bothered by hawkers. When I booked I was a little concerned there was no pool and whether there were local restaurants to walk to. Nothing to worry about - the beach is wonderful and local beach restaurants are close by. The staff are exceptional - very good English, helpful, can do, friendly and professional. This is a brilliantly managed hotel and they're well trained. Yoma Lodge is a fabulous place to stay, but what makes it especially good is that it is run with integrity. We will definitely be back. Thank you everybody at Yoma Lodge for such a wonderful stay.…
After travelling around Asia for nearly 4 weeks we are now back home and discussing all the places we have visited, the one that we keep going back to talk about is Yoma Cherry Lodge! We had a beachfront room and it was fantastic, spotlessly clean, couldn’t fault it. The staff who work there are a credit to the management, they were so polite, always smiling and the waiters ready for a laugh which was really easy because their English is so good. We ate in the restaurant a few times, food was good but its easy enough to walk on the beach to other eating places On a final note......we loved it that much we’ve booked to go back!
