A sustainable beachfront lodge in a tranquil community. Just 45 minutes by boat from Ngapali Beach lies a blissful hideaway where tourism has yet to leave it's mark. This is Maung Shwe Lay, a fishing village set on a quiet bay with white sands and swaying palm trees.

We spent 4 nights, 5 days at Lalay Lodge, it was a total regeneration of the batteries, marvelous accommodation, delicious meals, friendly service and lot of activities The staff are so naturally friendly and provide an authentic, heartfelt experience all around. The miles of beaches, hills, villages on the peninsula provide for abundant opportunities to explore, enjoy and indulge in nature. I cannot wait to go back with my wife Thank you to Edwin and his amazing colleagues

For me, wanting to be quiet and free from the city, Lalay lodge is a real place. It is located on a beautiful beach and there are many other beautiful beaches nearby and you can do any sport activity as you like. It uses solar system for electricity and not only in the hotel, but also in the village, hotel management is leading doing an impressive environmental work. The healthy local dishes prepared by the local chef were also very mouth-watering for me. During my 5 days stay at Lalay lodge, I was very satisfied with the experience I had and happy to go again soon. Wut

Lalay Lodge is a hidden gem located along the Peninsula on Ngapali in Rakhine state. Only 40/45 mins by boat from Ngapali, this is a must destination for people looking for relaxation and white sands on the beach. Friendly staffs who always happy to help with any queries we have. Thank you.

We live in Myanmar since 2015 and have been coming with our two daughters, now 6 and 9 yrs old, to Ngapali many times. This time we decided to not stay in a hotel at the main beach but at Lalay Lodge, which is located at the edge of a fishing village on a peninsula, about 40 min away by boat from the Ngapali jetty. It was the best stay we had in many years, simply because we wanted to get away from the crowds and the secluded location of the Lodge at a long beach was therefore perfect. The beach actually consists of two sections, one where you can search and find beautiful sea shells and one with a long sandy soft slope into the water that was perfect for swimming. We had a family room at the Lodge (one double and two single beds) which many other hotels we contacted earlier could not provide. Our room was very spacious and the bathroom was of highest international standard. The Lodge is nicely designed and with only nine rooms a perfect retreat for a relaxing stay. The staff is super-friendly and can advise on the best snorkel spots and hikes. The lunch and dinner menu consisted of traditional Rakhine cuisine and the food was always fresh and very tasty. The lodge runs on solar and has applied sustainable principles consistently. In essence: we can't wait to get back for our next holiday and highly recommend it!

From the charming staff through to the simple but elegant and well designed rooms, staying at Lalay Lodge was a pleasure. The set meals meant no bothersome food decisions and we enjoyed the tasty, healthful Rakhine dishes that were served in the restaurant right next to the turquoise water of the bay. A highlight of our trip was a walk recommended by Edwin at the Lodge which took us through paddy fields, over the hills to the other side of the peninsula and back along the pristine deserted beaches, swimming and snorkelling as we went. The two day stay was a Christmas treat.

Lalay lodge made our dream of an unforgettable honeymoon true! We’ve had an amazing stay at lalay lodge and couldn’t have chosen a better place for our romantic getaway. A peaceful, quiet and calm place where you can just relax and enjoy the time together. Amazing staff which was always helpful (just don’t believe Tiha when he says the bike tour is easy - it definitely isn’t and you will need a TukTuk on your way back! 😉) Thanks for this wonderful time 💛!

Lalay Lodge is definitely a pearl among the places in Ngapali. It's impossible not to fall in love with the location, the lovely staff, the food and the concept itself of the lodge. You will experience beautiful sunsets and real life of a fisherman village with its rythme. Highly recommended.

We visited LaLay lodge in the middle of May and loved it from start to end. Stunning view, lots of nice little day trips. Kayak and snorkeling was our favorite, along with the discovery of hidden beaches. The lodge in itself is beautiful and the spot amazing, staff very attentive and friendly, the food was incredible with innovative and varied dishes from the local seasonal variety of fish and vegetables. The approach to taken by the lodge to community tourism with attention paid to both the community and ecological impact is well thought through, and we wish all lodge owners was as dedicated to giving back to communities what tourism takes. We will be eager to come back and would highly recommend this site to anyone who looks for a blissful break with a direct view into Myanmar community lifestyle and beauty.

This is a lovely, solid, place near a village with fisher boats coming and going which is great to watch. There are amazing and pristine beaches nearby which are completely empty. Snorkelling is good, cycling, kayaking, or just hanging out doing nothing. Food and drinks are fantastic and the staff extremely friendly.

We stayed for 4 nights in February, and had a great experience that started from the beautiful boat journey across the bay to the lodge. It's about 45 minutes from the main and busy beaches at Ngapali, and is a world away. The lodge is excellent, right by the beach on the bay, and right in a local Rakhine fishing village. The rooms are excellent, well appointed and spacious, the food and cocktails are amazing, the garden is a prefect chill-out place. There's also some great walks to nearby beaches, and plenty of activities that explore the coastal villages. There's bustling village life, and it was great to see the fishing boats come in early in the morning to unload their catch right on the beach by ox-cart. We also had a great seafood BBQ, all caught locally that day. Also enjoyed paddling out in the bay. The lodge makes sure there's an excellent rapport with the village, with most if not all of the staff locals, and it has great initiatives to support the village life and economy, and hots the sustainability criteria well. Great place, we loved it.
