A relaxed vibe and great value set in a beautiful riverside garden. We stayed in the practically brand new set of rooms with a shared balcony over looking the river and rice field with the karsts backdrop. Picturesque to say the least! This a very laid back place. If you are looking for a place to hold your hand through... More

Such a positive experience here. The room was great! Actually the bed was amazing especially after a long day of walking! Food was also really good! Staff was helpful and friendly with their polite and cheerful face every time.

Wake up to picture perfect views of the idyllic surrounding mountains, relax and talk rubbish well into the night with charismatic owner Joe, and spend the days exploring nature at Maylan. It's the perfect location for biking to the Blue Lagoon, hiking to the view point, kayaking the river, the list goes on. But the best part? It's across the... More

After booking directly from Paris more than one month prior to our arrival , we had the very bad surprise when getting there to find out that the owner had completely skipped our reservation. So instead of getting one of the best rooms of the guesthouse, as agreed by mail, we were shown to a squalid shed, barely decent for... More

We stayed in one of the T Rooms (there are six of them) at Maylyn for 3 nights. The rooms look brand new and are really well done up. There is a long wooden deck at the back with comfy lounge chairs that looks out over a rice field and karsts - great view. Showers are OK and food from... More

Once again I have spent about 10 days relaxing and enjoying the beautiful location, the quiet sounds of nature and enjoyed meeting others travelling at Maylyn. This time I managed to enjoy a wonderful sunrise with the owner Joe and others, as well as going to the Blue Lagoon to swim and go through the cave, kayaked down the Nam... More

Cheers jo and family for looking after us . Enjoy my comfy bed , hot showers amazing food and the wee bit of banter . Just a short walk away from the craziness of the town ..... jo has plenty of knowledge of the area and is keen to keep you informed with his own little twist and great sense... More

I was frankly very fortunate in deciding to stay at Maylyn Guesthouse as this was my first visit to Vang Vieng. Joe, the proprietor was a nice person to chat with on whats happening in town and has vast experience here. For those who intend to make a bicycle trip to Phu Kham aka the Blue Lagoon (either for a... More

Despite having to pay to use the bridge (2,000 kip per person there and back / kids are free) I would definitely recommend this guest house. It sits at the gateway to the countryside (which is the main attraction of the area) and is an oasis of calm and beauty away from the town, which isn't great, unless you want... More

When we got off the bus, we got bombarded by fliers for in town guesthouses, hostels, parties, tuk tuks, it was overwhelming. We read on lonely planet that there was a place with THE BEST scenic views, and more-than reasonable prices, but that this place was over the bridge, away from the downtown area. After ten mins of walking we... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We are a budget guest house/mini eco resort. We are on the edge of a village our rear faces towards the Karst mountains. We are located next door to the beautiful and expensive Vieng Tara Hotel. We have a variety of rooms some are simple basic timber frame and bamboo bungalows for people who want a more authentic SE Asian experience and we do have more conventional masonry rooms for those who need them. The main appeal of our place is the location, the views and of course our Garden which at times is full of butterflies. Early wet season is best for the butterflies. I recognise that we may not be what everyone is looking for but many people love us.. ... more   less
