The room I stayed in was ok. The shower wasn't great, and cold, but that is expected. But the worst part was the staff. I called in advance to book a room; the woman on the phone was very hostile and unfriendly. She said she had a room for the indicated days but couldn't reserve it for me, and said...

We didn't get to stay at Maylyn as they were full (it's a popular place), but we did get to try some of their delicious food — the pancakes and the Lao chicken dish with the mint and the lemon were amazing. Thank you, also, for the loan of the bowl and plate.

We had a great couple of days in Maylyn! Ask for a room with mountain view! Very quiet and clean guesthouse, great service and good food in the restaurant! If we would come back to Vang Vieng we would always choose Maylyn again!

We had a relaxing stay at Maylyn Guest House. The staff are lovely and very helpful. They arranged a great outing for us to visit Blue Lagoon 3. We stayed in the basic huts in the garden which were simple and affordable. The food was fantastic and we liked the system that was in place for food / drink orders....

Had a very pleasant stay at Maylyn which was great value for money. Set amongst a stunning well kept , manicured garden , one can quite easily take a wrong turn and get lost amongst it. Home also to lots of gorgeous butterflies. Find a nice little spot to relax and read a book in the garden or make friends...

We had a great time at Maylyng Guest House. The fellas that run it are a really great pair. Super laid back, great value for money, stunning scenery. Pretty much the best location in VV close enough to town but still very tranquil. The perfect combo. Cheers

We ended up staying here 5 nights. For 100k you get a large room, with private bathroom and a shared balcony. But the balcony is arranged that you have your own area with a couple of chairs and table. The view from the balcony was amazing. The room was very nice and the bed was very comfy. It's away from...

Beautiful location and very nice staff. Had one of the new bungalows at the far end with a view of the cliffs. It came 120.000 in November. WiFi is best by the front desk where you can also order reasonably priced meals including breakfast.

It is very hard to review Maylyn Guesthouse so I will try and sort it into the good and the bad.... The good - very good price (100,000 kip) for a double room with fan and private bathroom and shared balcony - fantastic views of the mountains with a stream running below the balcony - lots of kittens and butterflies...

A beautiful setting with clean rooms at a reasonable price. Food was good and again, reasonably priced. It is a very short walk out from VV, but it is literally a 5min walk across a bridge. Kids loved the freedom of running around the grounds.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We are a budget guest house/mini eco resort. We are on the edge of a village our rear faces towards the Karst mountains. We are located next door to the beautiful and expensive Vieng Tara Hotel. We have a variety of rooms some are simple basic timber frame and bamboo bungalows for people who want a more authentic SE Asian experience and we do have more conventional masonry rooms for those who need them. The main appeal of our place is the location, the views and of course our Garden which at times is full of butterflies. Early wet season is best for the butterflies. I recognise that we may not be what everyone is looking for but many people love us.. ... more   less
