A new experience awaits guests at this beautiful all-inclusive beach hotel in Mauritius, located in Bel Ombre, on the island's south-west coast. Tamassa, a 4-star beach hotel, stands at the end of a long avenue of mature coconut palms towering skywards. A picture postcard landscape stretches across sugarcane fields to the mountains beyond. The south-west is a beautiful part of Mauritius, with spectacular walks and drives through lush, tropical hillsides and a range of open-air activities in beautiful countryside. In front of the beach hotel, beyond the sandy beach, lies a turquoise lagoon that almost blends into the skyline. The sea air is invigorating and the ripples of the waves gently calming. Beyond, lie thousands of miles of open sea. The traditional style architecture ideally suits the tropical setting, with beautifully landscaped gardens. The buildings seem at one with the environment. The decor is breathtakingly contemporary, with clean lines and bold use of colour. The atmosphere is one of eternal youth, friendly, cheerful and enthusiastic. Tamassa is a new Mauritian experience!

The hotel "Tamassa Bel Ombre" is located directly on the beach and offers breathtaking views of the garden and the sea. Beautiful, spacious grounds with lots of palm trees. The rooms are 43sqm in size, modernly furnished and have amenities such as free WiFi, air conditioning - 32-inch LCD TV with satellite reception - coffee/tea maker, minibar (may be subject to a charge) Partially open bathroom with a comfortable bathtub and separate shower - safe, desk and telephone - and daily room cleaning.
The hotel also has an in-house restaurant, 3 pools and a wellness area. One of the pools should be reserved for adults!
Good breakfast selection, but the food was extremely Indian-heavy for European guests. After a week you've tried everything and it gets boring. This is obviously because this hotel is booked by many local guests.
Since the hotel is relatively isolated, a rental car is advisable, although you have to be extremely careful when driving. The beach restaurant was unfortunately closed as it had to be repaired after the cyclone. However, you can go to the beach restaurants in the neighboring hotels. Drink prices are generally too high.
The friendly staff and the relaxed atmosphere are particularly worth mentioning. A perfect place for a relaxing holiday by the sea!

This was our second holiday at Tamassa Resort - we first visited in 2019. We had another amazing holiday at this lovely welcoming resort. The hotel is well laid out in spacious grounds and the garden areas are lovely. The resort was busy but never felt crowded and there was never any problem finding sunbeds. The staff are all amazing and go the extra mile to make sure you have everything you need and that your holiday is going really well. I have a food allergy and quite specific dietary needs which meant the buffet could be very restricted for me but the staff were superb and made sure my needs were carefully met. This meant I could enjoy wonderful food without worrying about my allergy and which met my dietary needs. Edhino the master bread baker was at Tamassa when we first visited and it was so good to see him again He came to speak to us every time he was in the restaurant area and took time to make sure my needs were being met. Suraj was one of the chefs who catered especially for me and Altaaf, Akilesh and Rebecca were front of house staff who also looked after me so well. There were other staff in the kitchen and restaurant who were also very good but unfortunately I don't recall all their names. Oumila at the front desk was always helpful if we had any questions. I enjoyed chatting to the gardener who looked after the area outside our room and who worked so hard keeping everywhere looking lovely. The only small concern we had was that a couple of things in the room were getting a little tired. This was the door on the cupboard housing the fridge and the wooden sides to the wash basin stands. All other aspects of the room were fine and the bed was comfortable. Housekeeping did a very good job and the room always smelt so pleasant and fresh when they had been in. We enjoyed sharing banter with the man who stocked our mini bar and brought fresh water for us every day. We were on holiday with my sister and her partner and they raised their concerns about the room with the Virgin rep. She spoke to the manager and he came to speak to us personally to discuss the concerns. Again he wanted to do everything he could to make our experience a good one. Sandesh offered to find alternative rooms for us but we stayed where we were as we liked the location of our adjacent rooms and the small issues raised were not going to spoil our holiday. We had a wonderful relaxing stay at this delightful resort with amazing staff.

Resort is lovely and caters to both Mauritian people and tourists. The beach is stunning, well maintained, clean, crystal blue waters and soft powdery sand, coral and shells do wash up on shore so Aqua shoes are advised, the sea is warm and a vast array of marine life can be clearly seen. The 3 pools are warm, clean and family friendly, with well spaced out loungers. The rooms are clean and spacious but the furniture is dated, room 2035 has a faulty air conditioning unit which is not fit for purpose and leaked intermittently throughout our 10 day stay, we called out the maintenance engineer twice and by the third time we got so fed up in the middle of the night that we used a towel and a plastic bin insert to catch the dripping water. The rooms have all the required amenities as well as a minibar which has approx 4 drinks and 2 large bottles of water replenished daily. The food at the Show buffet restaurant although delicious can get repetitive, the al a carte offering at Playa however is far superior with a special mention for Sarvesh and Sharan who provided outstanding customer service and surprised us with a Mauritian banquet consisting of 4 main courses and a selection of rice, puri, salad and accompaniments. The night time entertainment is limited, on Monday evening a Bollywood fusion dance show is provided and on most other nights there is a live band who sing a selection of songs in English and French from different genres. The all inclusive/infinity 12 package includes a free trip on the glass bottomed boat, use of the water equipment like pedalos and kayaks, access to the gym, tennis courts, bike hire etc and use of the sauna and heated pool at Santosha spa for over 18’s. The hotel is a taxi ride away from most excursions/ places of interest and the day rate to hire a taxi for 8 hours is approx £75/ 4000 MUR. We did the following excusions: zipping at Casela safari park, quad biking at la vallee des couleurs, tortoise and baby crocodile feeding at la vanille nature park and the absolute highlight was swimming with whales and dolphins. Finally Mauritius is a must see country, the hospitality and kindness of the Mauritian people is second to none, thank you all for a wonderful stay, hope to visit again soon x

A memorable stay despite some areas for improvement
We had a great stay at this hotel thanks to dynamic, smiling and always available teams. Many thanks to Ali at the beach restaurant, whose cocktails were not only delicious, but prepared with heart and care. Studio 17’s team was also at its best, whether at the restaurant, during beach activities or for housekeeping. Even the manager was very friendly and open to discussion.
However, we were a little disappointed by the service at the central bar near the pool. The waiter in charge of cocktails lacked a smile and enthusiasm. He said almost nothing, not even a simple “hello”, and the cocktails were served in plastic cups without careful presentation. This was in stark contrast to the excellent service we found elsewhere in the hotel.
With regard to accommodation, we suggest expanding the offer for large families. The current family suite consists of two interconnecting bedrooms with a king bed and a small extra bed, but this can be a bit right in terms of space, especially for a family of 6 people. We appreciated that the hotel offered an extra bed, but it remained a bit tight. A real family suite, with a separate bedroom for parents and a little more space, would be ideal for families like ours (4 children).
We recommend this hotel to families, as with three children aged 11 and one aged 15, they were completely safe and were able to choose their activities individually, which allowed us to enjoy some time as parents.
Finally, the spa area is absolutely not to be missed. It is a quiet and zen place, perfect to relax and recharge.
Despite these few points to improve, we took full advantage of our stay and will return without hesitation to enjoy Ali’s delicious cocktails on the beach!

Great family stay at Tamassa, attentive and welcoming staff, we lack nothing. Top food, dream location, calm, exotic. Rooms arranged in small apartments in a well-kept tropical park. We particularly enjoyed having our meals at the Playa restaurant (à la carte) - extensive menu and very fine dishes. Special mention for the children's club (Tam Tam club). The facilitators are exceptional and the children have a blast during the activities they organize. Our daughter loved it, thank you!!! We recommend!
- [ ] Bedrooms
Comfortable Quiet - well soundproofed - separated from the neighboring room by the stairwell Well equipped - shower and bath, TV, minibar, safe, slightly small wardrobe
- [ ] Activities nearby
Snorkeling, pedal boat, glass bottom boat included in All In Diving, sailing… organized at the hotel (paying) Activities for everyone at the hotel (competitions, aquagym, water polo, etc.) Activity for children at the hotel (Tam Tam club)
As the hotel is quite far from all amenities, you must use public transport, taxis or a car to reach shops and tourist attractions.
We recommend the boat excursions offered by “PetitJean” (departing from the hotel beach). Super friendly team, possibility of seeing dolphins, turtles, snorkeling in the lagoon, towards Morne Brabant or BlueBay, Deer Island,…

This is a very widespread 4 star resort. It comprises two restaurants and a lunch food truck, a bar as well as three pools, spa and other amienities like shops. The beach has white sands and is very nice and clean, from here you can also take snorkling or paddeling trips, which we could recommend. The friendly boathouse staff will help and did even arrange another boating trip for us. The rooms are spacious, although expecially in the bathroom some equipment is already a little bit older and worn. But the beds are comfy and if you need something the service is always quick. The pools are worth a swim as well, they are kept very clean. The fitness center was well equipped and nicely cooled. We didn't check the spa, but the offer there is extensive, though a bit on the pricy side. The main restaurant is for the all-inclusive guests and therefore buffet oriented to feed many people at once. This was nice for breakfast, in the evening we preferred the beach restaurant which is ala carte. There are events and programm especially for families, we checked out the sunset ritual, which was nice. Be sure to check the sunset from the beach for prime photo opportunities. The staff was nice and friendly throughout our stay, just one evening the restaurant staff seemed really slow, I guess they put the prime staff on the lobster dinner event that was taking place that day.

The experience was excellent based on the price... The cleanliness is excellent based on its terrible price, but in general it is clear that the building is dilapidated and old and needs restoration... In terms of the service of the staff, they are very nice, helpful and smiling, and I saw nothing but good things from them. They even helped me by adding an Islamic water sprinkler and it helped me a lot. Thank you. ...As for the food I tried one day, it was delicious and worth it. But adding it with a reservation is much cheaper than if you paid it with them... and the events are beautiful and worth trying and must be booked in advance... the location is excellent, close to most outdoor events... and the duration of your reservation there does not exceed three or four days... I wish you a happy trip.

First, the staff were great; always friendly and attentive. The issues we had, in our "superior" beach room, broken toilet, flooded floor, ants, dodgy light switch, were all dealt with promptly and without fuss. My partner's gluten and dairy free needs were handled very well by the kitchen staff. Very good wifi, even on the beach, and the TV had live soccer games (e.g. EPL). The resort's own app (ios and android) was good for keeping the tab under control! We mistakenly booked room and breakfast through BA, with an expectation that the "29 restuarants in walking distance" shown on TA would cater for other meals. These were mostly restuarants in the three 5 star resorts either side of Tamassa, or beach shacks only serving lunch. So we probably ended up paying more than the all inclusive price :( The resort is fairly isolated on the south coast, so visiting anywhere else on the island is relatively expensive using the resort taxis, or exciting if you try the local bus services! Sun loungers were often in short supply, and the "towel on chair by 7:30am" lot were active during our stay. If you want a good all inclusive resort and are not too worried about exploring the rest of Mauritius then this place is worth a look ... take a mask/snorkel and sand shoes; good coral straight off the beach.

We stayed as a couple at the Tamassa Bel Ombre hotel, occupying suite 1015 from September 10 to 20, 2023.
Many things to say about this hotel located in the south of the island by the sea, first of all the airport – hotel – airport transfer service, the taxi driver who has barely arrived explains to us the life of his country. already see magnificent landscapes
Arriving at the hotel in the morning, the welcome was warm and smiling and check-in was very quick. Our room being ready, we were given it immediately. An explanation and a tour of the hotel is given to us by our hostess while accompanying us to our room. The first thing that jumps out at you is that the hotel is clean, it smells very good in the common areas, the green spaces are beautifully maintained. The swimming pools in numbers of 3 are very large and have a maximum depth of 120 cm, also very clean. Our room, the functional 1015 with a great view of the lagoon. our lady of the room delighted us every day with her floral decorations on the bed as well as her kindness and her sense of service, always considerate, ensuring that we lacked nothing, she contributed every day to our well-being in Tamassa . Thanks to her The Show buffet restaurant is pleasant, the breakfast is magnificent. Exotic fruits, hot and homemade pastries made by chef-baker Edinho, cakes, eggs, sausages….. The lunch and dinner meals are varied and good, well prepared by cooks who do it in front of you. The restaurant is very good, the waitresses and waiters are adorable, special mention for Devianee and Jayesh who are very kind. They brightened up our stay by decorating our table the day before our departure 😉
For those who are hungry, there is the magnificent burger’s truck with wonderful burgers and very good salads. Right next door, an ice cream parlor where the nice Astrid will be happy to make you an ice cream.
Thank you Mr. Director for your availability and for the quality of service in your hotel and thank for us all the teams, the gardeners, the linen room people, all those who we do not see but who are essential. They always have a kind word during our walks around the hotel
Top-notch spa and massage center Free glass bottom boat, pedal boat and kayak at the beach.
And what can I say every evening about these magnificent sunsets
The Mauritians are very welcoming, warm and respectful, with unparalleled kindness. It was a pleasure to travel to this country and pass through this hotel.
In short, I was very moved to leave this hotel and its employees, I had an unforgettable vacation and I will recommend this hotel with my eyes closed.
We will definitely come back

My family and I have just returned from a 7 night all inclusive stay at Tamassa, We stayed in two adjoining delux rooms which were spacious, comfortable, well equipped and centrally located for easy access to the main resort facilities and the beach.
My 18 year old son uses a wheelchair / walking sticks and the resort was very accessible in nearly all areas, (there were a couple of small manageable steps to negotiate in the Playa beach bar and in Studio 17).
The resort was spacious, so whilst occupation levels seemed strong, none of the public area ever felt overcrowded. There were always loungers, tables etc available and there was never a wait for service.
All staff throughout the resort were really friendly and attentive without ever being intrusive and no request was too much trouble. Indeed, by the second day, the staff in the Show restaurant had reserved us a family table, (without being asked), in a location that was near to the buffet food stations, but which also had some nearby space nearby to park my son's wheelchair. This was really thoughtful and very much appreciated.
My wife and I were also treated to a 30 minute Spa treatment at no cost, a private beach breakfast and romantic 5 course evening meal at the Playa restaurant. along wtih a special evening turndown service one night, including cake, chocolate covered fruit and a rose petal bath. I'm assuming this is because we were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. Either way, it was all very special.
As a final nice surprise, the family were treated to a complimentary trip out onto the lagoon in a glass bottom boat, to see all of the wonderful aquatic wildlife on the reef.
The food on offer was varied, plentiful and tasty, (even fussy eaters will be happy). The drinks included in the all inclusive package were varied and delicious, (tropicana's and pina coladas in particular come highly recommended)!
Overall, we couldn't have been happier with our stay and we'd have no hesitation in recommending Tamassa Bel Ombre as a great destination for anyone planning to visit Mauritius.
