This was probably one of the best experience of my life! This resort is TOP and we will be back next year. Everything was perfect and when I write Everything I also mean it. From the first second we put our feets on the ground up the emotional departure all was perfect. Thank you to the Segera team and to the owner for letting us be part of it.

The most discernible traveler cannot help but be delighted by Segera. 5 stars does not do it justice. Beautiful grounds, buildings, villas,... an Instagram heaven. The guides are knowledgeable - go above and beyond to please you. Boru - you were AMAZING! Thank you for making my experience so very special! The helicopter adventure was the highlight of my entire 4 weeks in Kenya! NOT TO BE MISSED!! The food at Segera is superb - the presentation, dining venues - all are spectacular! The chef loves what he does and it shows! My adventure in the Bird's Nest was rained out - unfortunately Segera has not yet credited me after nearly 2 weeks! Let's get that taken care of please!

Segera Retreat is a private reserve set in the heart of Laikipia, Kenya. The setting is indeed an oasis of calm and luxury, teaming with giraffes, zebras and elephants. We arrived by private charter plane from the Nairobi airport. The resort has it own air strip enabling visitors to land and depart at any reasonable time of the day. We booked one of the garden villas but was upgraded to the luxurious three-bedroom Farm House with a private pool and beautiful manicured grounds. We were so delighted staying in this huge house, furnished with luxurious leather sofas, art pieces and crystal chandeliers, very worthy of featuring in the Architectural Digest. Much thanks to our very kind GM Jens and Manager Adash, checking on us everyday, making us felt cared for and safely tucked in. Also, we are so appreciative of our house butlers Collins and Sammy, making sure the furnishings are constantly clean and neat. Our food & beverage butler, Andrew, who elevated our stay with delicious wine and beautiful dining locations. Chef Elizabeth is the creative star who cooked up a different cuisine everyday. We love your roasted rack of lamb, it was divine! Our safari guide Elvis and Merci (safari assistant), are worthy of a gold medal, worked relentlessly to spot the elusive leopard. We love the scenic spots you chose for our coffee and snack stops. Great experience! We took the organic vegetable garden tour. Also, the ranger dogs were awesome. Totally worth doing. Do visit the spa as well, Rosanna is the most amazing masseuse! The art gallery and art pieces throughout the retreat is an eye-opening art lesson! Everything at Segera is done so well with great thought to experience, culture, and conservation. Nothing goes to waste. The Helicopter Tour, bee hives tour and The Bird's Nest will be on my next visit list. There are no words to describe the tranquil, amazing energy this location and staff provide. This resort deserves more than five stars!

Segera was simply amazing! There are only about 9 villas, so there is always the sense that it is a private oasis created for you. Each villa is decorated with an amazing attention to detail.... think the most high end safari estate, then add a touch of indonesia, then add grounds that are the display background for high end art.... It is unique in all the world. But aside from the visual, it is the staff which makes the oasis magical. Lashao and Lucas made each meal a delight, and speaking of meals... The amazing chef Violet created masterpieces of display and taste time and time again. I would stack her amazing dishes against the best in the world, and it all comes from their own gardens... talk about farm to table... we have never tasted food this fresh or displays and plating so perfect. We went on amazing game drives with Ohmi who was able to share amazing facts about the wildlife.... and we have gone on lots of Safari drives over the years, so we have a high standard. We were able to enjoy the Spa, and Rosanna was simply astounding.. strong, kind and wonderful Lastly our rooms were always spotless, refreshed seemingly nonstop, and all drinks and edibles were instantly replenished, whether wine, beer, coke zero, etc.....thanks to Monix who somehow magically appeared in perfect rythm. You can tell that this is the work of many, many people paying attention to the smallest detail It is simply wonderful. Jenz and Adash manage this hotel perfectly. The estate was created by a kind individual who not only gives back to the environment and community, but holds the distinction of having the largest collection of African art in the world.

A group of six of us went this October and had an amazing time. The COVID protocol was thorough. We had our temperatures taken every morning and evening. We were asked to sanitize our hands upon entering the safari jeep and on returning home. We actually were greeted with hot towels as well as sanitizer and a welcome home cocktail. The setting was beautiful. The camp and lodge are wonderfully comfortable and thoughtfully designed. Each villa or cottage had a large terrace facing out toward the bush. Giraffes and zebras would come and graze outside. The animals of course are the draw, but more than anything the people in the camp were amazing. Our safari guide Elvis was intelligent and friendly and kept us rolling along. Lap rugs to keep us warm, thermos of coffee and tea, and cold drinks were all provided. Elizabeth we dubbed "The Queen" (hopefully not irreverently) as she cooked with incredible aptitude. Drinks were mixed and served by Lucas, and Piggy looked on managing everything and making sure we were well watered and fed. Elizabeth looked after our room and made us feel very comfortable indeed. Our host for our too short visit was Jens - smiling and quick to guide or help with any request. We could not have asked for a better welcome, and it was truly difficult to say good-bye. I give Segera 5 stars unreservedly, and hope to return one day.

Set upon a large conservancy in Laikipia, Segera Retreat offered our family a unique holiday experience. We arrived at Segera on Christmas Eve and the staff ensured that our family felt the special feeling the season brings. Our accommodations, in the Segera House, were outstanding. This gorgeous three bedroom house was perfect for our family of five, with private pool and kitchen and views of the plains with passing giraffes. Safaris in this region take guests through the more mountainous terrain, with opportunities to see lions, elephant, giraffe, and more. Private dining for each meal give guests the privacy not available at most other camps which have communal dining. For "Out of Africa" fans, you will love seeing "Gammy", the plane flown by Robert Redford in the movie which now lives at Segera. Our guide and driver, Calvin and John, were excellent. We will surely visit this gem again.

We travel frequently to Africa and it does luxury very well e.g. Bisate or Sasakwa. We really enjoyed Segera for different reasons. The art work is amazing - reminded me of Ellerman House in Cape Town where the Art is all around you. We did enjoy the statues and had fun tracking down the Seven Sinners, but "State of the Nation" is the piece that really resonated with us. Outside of Segera there are some excellent places to go - Satubo the women's initiative, Ol-pejero the Rhino and Chimp sanctuary (absolutely worth a visit) and not least the local school, which was a humbling experience. The dedication of the Principal and teachers in difficult circumstances was an eye opener. We also enjoyed visiting the cattle area and learned about how the cattle are protected in a game environment (and being given fresh milk to drink). The organic gardens were interesting too. There are Grevy's zebra (we saw one) and reticulated Giraffe and we were lucky enough to see a striped hyena as well. We were well looked after by Sammy, Peter and Calvin (and I appreciated all the Swahili lessons), and the view of Mt Kenya at sunrise is just beautiful. Elizabeth produced excellent food and I managed to get some of her recipes. So something different to the morning and evening game drives routine and well worth a visit.

If magical places really do exist, this is a close to it as you will ever be. The combination of elements at Segera are perfect: awe inspiring natural beauty on an epic scale, conservation in action, luxurious, comfortable accommodations, the most lovely and welcoming staff, sustainability, locally grown food exquisitely prepared by chef Elizabeth, the huge skies, and the many colors all around you, day and night. It is no exaggeration to say the four days and nights I spent there were some of the most incredible and fulfiling travel experiences of my life. Getting up before sunrise to go out with our guide on drives was a highlight. Watching the sun rise, Mount Kenya in the distance, the anticipation of which creatures we would see - it was like being a child again. Picnic lunch by the river nearby was also so much fun. A huge thank you to Jens and his team, to my butler David, our guides Elvis, Paul and David for their knowledge, their welcome, their work, and their attention to detail. I can't wait to go back one day, and would encourage anyone looking for a safari experience that has integrity, luxury, values rooted in conservation, and a big, big heart, to visit Segera Retreat.

We had been looking forward to visiting Segera for ages but the simple reality is that they are hugely expensive and so you want to ensure a perfect experience. I really just wanted some reassurance from the booking office (Beth) since another luxury lodge had offered us a very attractive deal to go and stay with them. I was happy to pay the amounts but when I went back to them to ask details on cancellation, not only did they not replay for ages (I had to resend request) but what came back was very much a "couldn't care less whether you come or don't come" approach. I wasn't looking for a discount (and didn't ask for anything) just some reassurance we had made the right choice to pay double what everyone else charges and it would be worth it. When I went back and said they could have made some effort to keep customers, again there was no response. I consequently cancelled the booking and lost large amounts of money - but ultimately poor service tends to be reflected throughout an organisation and I wasn't willing to take the risk. Its a shame they could not have shown a little more friendliness or concern since the eye watering amounts you pay requires an exceptional service from start to finish.

My Husband and I recently got back from our two week honeymoon in Kenya. We stayed 2 nights/3 days at Segera Retreat and I wish we stayed longer! Segera Retreat is not just a hotel/resort but an experience. As I put in my title, pictures will not do this place justice as it is beyond magical, peaceful, and unique. The staff is warm and welcoming, from the moment you step off the plane. There was so much attention to detail- from the 6am morning fireside coffee to the romantic personalized dinners. Andrew, our butler, knew I loved chocolate so the next day at lunch, he presented us with a chocolate cake (to feed 8) for us two! You can see the passion the entire staff has and they love what they do. Our guide went above and beyond to make sure we had a special trip and got to see as much as we could in our short stay. I am hoping this was not a once in a lifetime trip because I hope to go back to Segera Retreat again!
