Excellent service,Friendly Staff, Fresh food, beautiful layout of rooms with full view from everywhere of Lake Elmentita, best nap on the hammock on cottage balcony. Will recommend at least one night full two days stay. Walk to the View Point, swim in the pool, hear the beautiful birds chirping while having breakfast or lunch.
With breathtaking views, Sunbird lodge is a sight to behold. Since it’s located uphill, the view of lake Elementaita is magnificent. The landscaping is beautiful, the staff is friendly and the food is good. The rooms are spacious, clean and well designed. In fact you wake up the view of the lake from your room!!They also have an in-house naturalist who can take you around to see various species of birds that visit the property. They have also created bird hides, so overall great for photographers. Lake Naivasha is a 45 mins drive from the lodge. Overall I would love to come back again later. I have also attached some photographs of the place.
Sunbird Lodge is a great location on Lake Elementaita. It is close to Lake Nakuru where we went for our first game drive of the trip. The towels were super small and scratchy and I understand the conservation aspect of laundry but we stayed at other much more remote locations and they had large fluffy towels….this is really one of the few creature conforts you will have on safari.. The food was very good. Breakfast can be enjoyed on the veranda while watching a variety of birds at their feeders. No flamingos on the lake while we were here but still a neat spot to start off even if you can hear road noise as you are close to the nearby highway.. Staff was friendly and helpful.
We stayed 4 nights here at this excellent lodge. The cottages are spacious and the decor and facilities are of a very high standard. The private balconies give excellent panoramic views the lake. The staff here were of a high standard and ensured that are stay was very special. We are primarily birders and can recommend the grounds of the lodge and the approach road. We stayed in Marabou which was one of the closest cottages to the communal facilities but still it felt secluded and private. We would recommend this location as a base for the exploration of the southern Rift Valley lakes.
Words won't do justice to sunbird lodge..its perfect, refreshing and peaceful..the staff at the hotel are friendly which makes you feel welcomed..the food was tasty though alittle small on the plate(maybe I just like a full plate)..the service was good ,they provide hot water bottles in bed which was a superb touch since at night it gets really chilly..the views of lake elementaita were just fanatics from your cottage..if you are ever in lake elementaita you definitely have to pass by and spend a night or two..you won't regret it plus its budget friendly..
We stayed here for 3 nights and really enjoyed it. From every place of the property you have an awesome view on the lake Elementatei with all its flamingos. During the day the restaurant is well visited by day tourist from Nairobi maybe stopping by on there way to Nakuru Lake NP - The staff is very helpful und cares a lot for you. - the rooms are nice, well maintained and with a gorgeous views - the food is pretty good. Unfortunately during our stay they changed from “plate down “ to “buffet style” - the pool invites for a relaxing time The only thing I would recommend is not to choose the Ostrich room. There you can hear the highway quite loud Other than that we had an amazing time. Also I would recommend to give them a call before booking. The price you find online are much higher than what they can offer directly. We will come again. …
I enjoyed staying here - even through there were a lot of steps down to the rooms (and back up again!). I was glad I wasn't carrying my bag. It was peaceful and quite and I could hear lots of birds and the hippos making noise. My room was very spacious, with a large bed. My room had a desk for writing and safa also. I loved sitting outside and listening to the gentle rain and rolling thunder. Each night we had a choice of 2 options for entree, main and dessert which you chose before going out on safari for the day. Breakfast was buffet with additional items made to order such as omelettes and pancakes. There was a lovely dining room and sitting area with a fire place as well as tables and unbrellas outside which lokked over the lake.
We stayed in 506 W. It was beautiful. It's important to remember each condo has a different owner and it is their responsibility to keep the unit maintained. Kudos to the owner of this condo for making sure everything was immaculate. It even smells new. There were pots and pans, silverware, glasses, anything you need to cook with. Also a digital thermostat that works incredibly well. We stayed in on one evening just to hang out, it felt like home away from home. Balcony is completely oceanfront and every window has nothing but a gulf view. It looks exactly as the pics on website show. The building itself is gated, with codes and the rooms are keyless with pin entry. There is security at the gate and the guards were extremely nice. Important to know, the building is under construction due to Hurricane Michael's damage. Remember this is beyond the owner's control or the agent booking your stay. They truthfully cannot tell you where the work will be taking place as they move around throughout the day. It's being repainted and there are workers walking around (not in a creepy way) It didn't really affect us but to some I'm sure it would bother. They have a pool open and a beach access open as well. From my understanding they plan to be done by labor day. I booked through Lucy Massey and she is a complete sweetheart. We had a small issue, so minute it's not worth bringing up, but it was resolved within 30min. Kim at the front desk was a delight as well. I would return here in a heartbeat. Our stay was amazing. Anyone booking this unit will be pleased. I could go on but I hope this is sufficient for anyone interested in staying here.…
I traveled to Sunbird Lodge with Gate 1 on January 30,2020 with a group of 14. The lodge, restaurant, grounds and accommodations are beautiful and we enjoyed drinks at the great bar. However, even though we highly enjoyed dinner I did not enjoy having my money stolen out of my room safe while eating. It was the first stop of my trip- I knew exactly what I had spent during my one day there and when we left the next day on our way to the next lodge I counted my money to notice I was short $70 or 7000 shillings. The others in my group started to check theirs- all using their safes as well and again were short $40-$100 in both American money and shillings. Informed our guides who checked with the rest of our group and everyone but the couple who kept their money on them and the couple who arrived late to dinner were short- some by $400. 10 of the 14 had money stolen! So far the hotel has been silent and refusing to take responsibility even though there is solid proof it occurred and we could even pinpoint when! So while this lodge was beautiful and had delicious food, it was far from secure and staff cannot be trusted! If you stay there keep valuables on you as both the safes and individuals’ bags were gone through to steal from! I would never stay here again!…
We were there with a Gate 1 tour group Jan.20th.Out of 14 people in our party 10 of us either had money stolen out of our safes or out of our luggage. We didn’t realize our money was missing until a few hours after we left and my daughter said something about missing money. We told our Gate 1 guide about this and at our next stop we asked all of the other people in our group and they also were missing money.Beware when staying here, take your money with you.
