We booked 5 different places while in The Gambia. Bintang Bolong was the one we were most unsure about before we arrived. It turned out to be the best! Thanks to Solo the manager for allocating an amazing room on the river and for being so kind. Also special mention to Omar, can highly recommend his trips and his birding knowledge. He was very honest about still learning about the wildlife but we found he knew more that some bird guides did on Kotu bridge. Highlight of our visit was being picked up by boat and transported to the next leg of our journey, being waved off by the lovely staff. Thanks so much to you all

I felt in love with this place! My partner and I came by boat (Paradise Fishing Gambia) so it only took us 1,5 hour to get here from Banjul. And we saw many dolphins on our way which is amazing! When we arrived the employees where very helpful. Our luggage was carried straight to our room, a dingy was ready to bring us from the boat to the jetty. The room was clean, good, bed was comfy. The food was fine, breakfast was good. And it's so peaceful and quiet... Long story short: we came back ourselves, we came back with our crew and we came back with customers, and in 2 weeks I will go back with my family!

Fantastic place very quiet and with stunning views over the river, the room was very basic with just a bed and a bathroom but it was all we need but the view from the balcony was fantastic, the walk way to the lodge was very rickity so you have to be careful special at night as there is no lighting.the main bar and restaurant was good plenty of space to sit and the food was very good, it also provided sun loungers just Infront of the bar area.the staff were friendly and helpful The wfi is very hit and miss and was not on for long periods of the day and only available in the bar area, but that was not a problem for us. We went on a couple of trips one down the river which was great to see the oysters growing on the mangroves and also a safari which took us to see local villages and the surrounding areas For people who just want to get away from it all in beautiful surroundings this is the place to go I would highly recommend it.

Bintang Bolong lodge was a highlight of our time in Gambia. The location and scenery are fantastic, and the staff are even better. Solo, the boss, is always on hand to help and is great company. We also have to give a special mention to Omar; he was brilliant - a great guy all round. He took us on a boat trip to St. James island and on route we were lucky enough to see many dolphins in the river, a truly unforgettable experience. The rooms are basic so don’t expect anything luxury. A few amenities in the rooms could go a long way to improve what was a fantastic stay - a bedside table, a lamp, a mosquito net, would all help. As for the food, that was lovely - the Yassa Chicken especially! If you want to relax in the ‘real’ Gambia, surrounded by wildlife, stay at Bintang Bolong Lodge.

Stopped here for drinks and lunch on a trip further up country and was charmed by the beautiful scenery overlooking the belong. Had a look in the rooms by the river which have all been recently refurbished and look great and also the new "round houses" set back from the water but with verandas. If you are looking for an overnight away from the crowds this could be the place
