The eco lodge is built on stilts within the water and intergrated into the wonderful mangrove forests on then banks of the Bintang Bolong, the largest tributary of the river Gambia.

This place was exceptional in 90s Gambia, but after 30 years of operation, it hardly catches up with today's standards. Now it looks more like arrogantly managed backpackers place . We made a reservation by phone. when we arrived 'the famous' hotel manager checked the reservation: lodge #2 was reserved for us. unfortunately it was given away to other customers... he moved us to lodge #5, which is an older lodge covered with mangroves from the lake side. (You will not find its photos on their page). the toilet paper was missing and room quality was far from the best, especially shower. Dinner food was ok. Breakfast - just basic. In other Gambia towns for the same quality rooms you pay 2x less. Surprisingly, our lodge neighbour was complaining about 2K dalasi price, while for the same room we paid 3.5K. While leaving we came to pay our food and drinks bill, receptionist overcharged us 400 dalasi. she made a mistake on receipt, though summing with calculator. when I showed here mistake, she returned the difference, but no excuse or any other sorry word. Keeping in mind it's Africa, you don't expect it to be European quality or standards. but at the same time you don't intend to pay European prices for African quality.

Facilities were basic so one has to adjust expectations
The shower head didn’t work but they provided bucket. Water supply and electricity were intermittent but we were ok given this place is quite remote and we understand the challenges in getting such supplies here and the price charged for the 2 days stay here.
There is lots to explore for the adventurous eg kayak, we had our own stand up paddle boards and fat bicycles Else there’s also kayak for rental, fishing, boat rides, village visits.
Food was good - we chose fish, oysters for the 2 day stay.
It was nice sitting in front of room admiring sunset
Points to consider
1. Bring your own wines /alcohol , nuts for aperitif, fruits as they have almost none or v limited supplies. 2. Ample bug spray - being in midst of mangroves meant there were abundant bugs - I had a lot of bites but that’s part of being among nature, nothing to do with the lodge

Situated in a picturesque setting by the river , Some lucky people had a riverside cabin unfortunately I didn't I ended up in accommodation a 5 minute walk away. Lots of birdlife , dolphins and crocodiles being spotted. The room I had was basic but adequate , hot water and electricity supply erratic. I spent 2 nights here and there were power cuts both nights , remember to take a torch. Very good inexpensive laundry service . There was no WIFI in the time I spent here. Breakfast was good , meals were very good. Staff helpful.

This is a HORRIBLE place, they CHEAT with the prices (raise it while you are there), they have no mosquito net long enough (despite promise, and being at the water), on a boat tour the guide does not talk to us at all...?!, the food is mediocre and overpriced.
We had some discussion about it and they even THREATENED us (family and 2 small children) - it was really scary and unsave.
Do NOT go here, it is overpriced, dishonest, and unsave.
Make a better choice to go to AbCa's Creek Lodge - it is nearby and really nice, friendly, honest.

The camp is a bit old and tired, but what a place! Most of the riverside huts have unrestricted views of the river, and at high tide you can swim from the verandah. The huts are basic and need some repairs and renovation, but they were clean and serviceable. The mattress was hard (as in most eco-lodges). The restaurant and bar area also faces out over the river and is a great pace to unwind in the evening. There are lots of places to walk around the lodge, although an overly persistent "bird guide" at the main entrance meant we usually slipped out the back (south) way. Food was good and the service excellent

The most characteristic of the place is how unfriendly the women who wear it are. If you ask them for another paper napkin, a blanket because it’s cold or a little more butter they always answer that they’re out of it. It's a shame because the place is cool but they are especially not friendly.

We did spent a night at the lodge on the way to Janjanbureh. It was absolutely a GREAT experience! Life is great on the river, very relaxed to sit outside your bungalow and see the small fishing boats pass by. The bungalows are right on the river, connected by wooden platforms through the mangrove forest. The restaurant is also above the water, fantastic. Great staff and service, we will definitely go back for a few more days next time we go to The Gambia! Thank you! Simone

Basic bungalows but nicely located on the water. You reach them through a nice path through mangroves. Food was average but I loved the restaurant area with the views to the mangrove channels. I rented a kanu for 2 hours but you can also go by speed boat. You can reach the place easy with public transport from Brikama. Don't miss it when you are in Gambia.

There are two type of bungalows on stilts over the mangroves which are picturesque and others equally as nice behind. Good food and breakfast . Nice staff and a wooden deck where you can relax and enjoy the wildlife A nice place for a second visit. Very kind they even sent a van to pick us up as we were on bikes

During my travel it was the best appartment of the Gambia. It was a really delicious food. Cleen, warm and mosquito proof room with georgeous views just from my balcony. I woke up early to take some night photos and morning birds. Amazing experience.
