The hotel is beautiful. It is an experience to stay here. You get the whole nat'l park at your feet and a great place to recharge after all the great outdoors. Keep in mind the hotel was built in 1927, not 2014! My only complaint was that the food in The Ahwahnee dining room is overpriced. The quality of the... More

Kathy W Thank you for traveling all the way from Maryland to see us. While I am very happy to read that you had a great experience, I would love to more detail about your dining experience. 4 out of 5 stars. The Ahwahnee is rightly considered a national landmark and treasure. The surroundings are beautiful and well-tended. The included breakfast buffet was top-notch. On the morning we checked out there was a group of 5 mule deer grazing outside the main lobby. The valley shuttle buses make traveling ariund Yosemite Valley very convenient. Overall, staying at... There is a picture of a young Elizabeth with her German husband in the bar, harking back to days of royal splendour, reinforced by abundant elaborate woodwork, from the paneled lobby area throughout the extensive use of wood beams, in keeping with the forest mountain location. The red carpet entrance is nice as well. The Ahwahnee is by reputation the... More

Good afternoon tripping10, Thank you for taking the time to post your review of your October visit; I greatly appreciate the detail into which you went. Specifics such as yours will help us be better tomorrow than we were today. Please accept my apologies that instead of a warm welcome one would expect, you encountered a dull receptionist at check... We stayed here for 2 nights as part of a trip around california. We were told to at least here if we could but we went the whole hog and booked 2 nights. I booked a room on line and when we got there found we had a lodge. It was freezing cold and we had to open the windows... More

We stayed at the Ahwahnee for 2 nights in April. The room was large, the bed was comfortable and we felt like we'd stepped back in time. The view from our gorgeous wooden windows was amazing and we spent the afternoon wandering the surrounding forest. There are plenty of walking tracks and within minutes you are standing on the banks of... More

My wife and I chose to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary in Yosemite with a stay at The Ahwahnee. This beautiful hotel, nestled in the eastern corner of Yosemite Valley, is both elegant and informal. When staying at the Ahwahnee there are two lodging choices: rooms in the hotel or one of the cottages, which are a short walk from... More

My wife and I recently stayed at the Ahwahnee Hotel for 1 night while touring California. We really enjoyed the hotel, the atmosphere and the hotels history. It was well worth the high price tag to stay. What we did not care for was the restaurant. The food and service were just OK and nothing special as I was expecting.... More

Our review is going to be very consistent to previous reviews and our expectations were managed ahead of our stay The hotel location and hotel itself is stunning - the views and settings can not be beaten. We had a cottage nestled in the woods no more than a minute walk from the main hotel - what an experience waking... More

First impression was iffy. Although after walking the grounds at the hotel I see why this place is so expensive. Mainly you are paying for the location and history of the hotel. The hotel decor takes you back to the time of when it was built. They seemed to have kept it very original to what it looked like years... More
