It just doesn't get any better than this... at least, not in a Roosevelt-area cabin. Closer to premium Lamar Valley wildlife viewing than any other YNP lodge, the majority of Roosevelt cabins are old and primitive, with no bathrooms and no electric heat. It was sheer luxury to stay in Roosevelt without rising every 2 hours throughout the night to... More

We loved roughing it in a Roughrider cabin at Roosevelt Lodge. Having visited Yellowstone a few times I knew where it was but had not been in this corner of the park overnight before. It is certainly a different experience than the historic and crowded Old Faithful area, or the non-historic and crowded Canyon area. The rates at any of... More

No cell phone coverage, no phone in room, no TV, no air conditioning you are in the wilderness and we loved it. Our cabin was small but It did have a bathroom with the sink in the bedroom. Service to our cabin was excellent; we asked for wine glasses and ice and they were delivered to our cabin within minutes,... More

I have to admit that the cabins are very basic and, lacking insulation in late summer, you have a choice between hot days or chilly nights (They have stoves). The Roughrider Cabns are also shared bathrooms, which may make it seem more like camping, but requires you to walk at least a short distance - maybe in the middle of... More

If you want to experience bare minimum, I mean just basic cabin experience, then you must stay here. In fact, I'd suggest if you're visiting YNP for few days, then plan to stay here for at least a night. All you've is a bed and alarm clock, and pellet burning fireplace to keep cabin warm. You'll have do all the... More

The only reason that this accommodation exists is because it is in the park. The cabins are small with sink in the bedroom and shower/toilet in the very small bathroom. The heater, which runs on LP gas was very noisy and cycled on and off in a manner that killed any hope of stage 4 sleep. The cabins are situated... More

Yellowstone is a wild place, we travel there to enjoy natural wonder and beauty - but a good bed, shower and meal can't be over-rated. We rate the places we stayed as: 5) Old Faithful, 4) Lake, 2) Canyon, 3) Mammoth and 1) Roosevelt which correspond generally to the size of the crowds and quality of services. Mammoth and Roosevelt... More

6 of us recently stayed at the at the roosevelt lodge cabins for 1 night. All 6 of us were in one room with 3 double beds and our stay was excellent. This was the first time we have ever stayed in a lodge like this with the bathrooms and showers in another building but we all loved it. We... More

I liked very little about our night at Roosevelt, even though I camp regularly. Our cabins weren't very convenient to the restrooms, and I had no idea how cold they would get. Maybe it was my own ignorance, but I struggled with those duralogs all night. First I got it so hot that I had to open the windows for... More

My daughter and I stayed here for two nights while touring around Yellowstone. We also stayed in the Old Faithful Cabins, which I liked a little better. We did not have a bathroom in our cabin, but the restrooms were close and clean. We never had to wait for a shower or to use the sink. There was a stove... More
