Proving dreams do come true, Tim and Kim Gratzer took over ownership of the Fat Duck Inn in January of 2019, although the Inn’s history began well before that. This 1928 Craftsman is nestled among Walla Walla’s historic homes providing a scenic short walk to downtown shops, restaurants and wineries. At this little slice of heaven in Walla Walla, guests can enjoy all of our wonderful amenities including made-to-order breakfasts, a beautiful garden patio and every afternoon the home is filled with the smells of fresh-baked cookies. Remember our motto: Come as guests, leave as friends.

My wife and I visited Walla Walla for a few days and stayed at the Fat Duck Inn. In short, it was great experience all around. We loved our room which was on the top floor (Merganser). It was very spacious and cozy and had everything we'd want. The food at the Fat Duck Inn is fantastic. each morning we enjoyed made to order hot breakfasts supplemented with additional treats from their well stocked pantry. We also ate dinner there on one of the evenings and were just blown away by both the delicious food and the warm service by our hosts, Tim and Kim. We also had a wonderful time on a winery tour led by Tim which included an amazing lunch spread. Our visit to Walla Walla was very enjoyable and memorable. Tim and Kim were such warm and caring hosts and made us feel very much at home throughout our stay.

WARM, WELCOMING & GRACIOUS HOSTS!! AMAZING BREAKFASTS!! We were so blessed with our stay at the Fat Duck Inn with Tim and Kim!! We were greeting with Tim’s friendly face and welcoming spirit,, which started the weekend off wonderfully! The room was very nice, clean and comfortable. We LOVED that we could choose our breakfast options from a very large menu and also choose the time we would eat!! This was a very welcome surprise for a B&B! The breakfasts were top notch and and service was impeccable!! Tim and Kim were so very attentive during the entire meal. Tim & Kim had graciously donated a 3 night stay at the Fat Duck Inn for a fundraiser for the Teen Reach Adventure Camp, which serves at-risk teens and teens in foster care. We are actively involved with Teen Reach helping run a camp in Bremerton, W. We won the package and we’re so glad we did, as it’s wonderful to meet loving people who are willing to support such great causes. Thanks to Tim and Kim for an incredible weekend!! We loved getting to know you and benefit from your amazing hospitality!! We will definitely be back!!

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at Kim and Tim's Fat Duck Inn for a couple of days in early October. Our daughter recently moved to Seattle and our plan was to begin exploring Washington state. Our focus this trip was wine tasting and Walla Walla was our target destination. We were greeted by both Tim and Kim when we arrived and given a brief tour. We were shown our wonderful room on the first floor of their beautiful villa and presented with our charcuterie. Having procured a nice WW wine Kim showed us to the patio where both Tim and Kim eventually joined us till dusk. We followed that with a stroll to the downtown area to get our bearings. We loved the unexpectedly comfortable king bed and appreciated the room layout, decor, amenities and space. Tim's breakfasts offerings are a great way to start a day and know that Kim went out of her way to have the tasty coffee ready for us early risers (still on east coast time). Departing was indeed sweet sorrow for we felt like family by then. Of interest to some, their parking area hosts a chef's truck many nights. Unfortunately we weren't able to try it but the specialty is smash burgers and the reports suggest he has a devoted following.

This was my second stay at the Fat Duck Inn. The first trip was last spring with a group of girlfriends, this last trip was with my husband. I stayed in the Merganser Suite both times. The Inn is located within walking distance of town, and in a lovely, quiet residential area. Hosts, Tim and Kim are gracious, welcoming, and they serve what has to be one of the best breakfasts in town! Duck fat fried potatoes, biscuits and gravy, fluffy waffles, and MORE! In the afternoon you'll find fresh baked cookies. The rooms are beautifully decorated and spacious. I think I could live here! Thank you Tim and Kim for a spectacular weekend getaway. We are looking forward to returning soon!

For the past seven years, my husband and I have traveled to Walla Walla to play amazing golf (Wine Valley GC), taste delicious wine, and stay with Kim and Tim Gratzer at The Fat Duck Inn, our favorite Bed & Breakfast. Their hosting is, by far, the finest we have ever experienced anywhere. Both my husband and I have over 70 years of combined experience working for a major US airline. We have stayed at hundreds of hotels around the world, yet gravitate to Bed & Breakfasts as our preferred lodging. Kim's warm hospitality combined with Tim's culinary creativity (what other B&B provides an a la carte menu?) put this Inn far above any that we have ever experienced worldwide. BTW, Tim is also a wonderfully warm host and he and Kim might join you on the golf course or take you out for wine tasting as an added bonus! And of course, the rooms are beautifully appointed with VERY comfortable beds, soft sheets, and well-appointed bathrooms. Plans to return in 2023 are already in motion! Our hats off to this amazing couple!

As mentioned in previous reviews, Kim and Tim held up to all the hype. Very genuine and caring folks, who made our trip as seamless as possible. The location was good, food was great, hospitality at it's best. Will stay again, next time in Walla Walla.

We returned to the Fat Duck Inn recently and, once again, Tim and Kim made us feel right at home while at the same time giving us the Royal Treatment. I can't imagine a couple more suited to be hosts at a B&B. Combine the genuine friendliness along with the absolutely excellent service, and you have the perfect B&B. The rooms are comfortable with all of the necessary amenities, privacy and cleanliness. And a perfect patio for a restful evening nightcap. Tim, and his sous chef Kim provide the type of breakfasts and dinners (upon request) that you would expect from the finest restaurant, all while making you feel like you are family. Be sure to request that they take you on a wine tour and you will be the envy of every other winery guest when Tim brings in his famous traveling charcuterie board. You may come to Walla Walla for the wine, but when you look back at your stay there, its the Fat Duck Inn and Tim and Kim that you will remember as being the highlight of your trip.

Great visit, can't wait to come back. The breakfast was amazing and the dinner was the best. Next time I come to Walla Walla (soon I hope) would love to try more restaurants but will not miss out on dinner at least one night at the Fat Duck. Tim and Kim are wonderful.

We had a wonderful stay at the Fat Duck Inn. The rooms are delightful and very comfortable. Breakfasts are beyond amazing! Kim and Tim are wonderful hosts and cooks. The days we were there were perfect. We got good advice on wineries to visit and help with a reservation we couldn’t get on line. Definitely plan to return.

My wife and I have stayed at many B&B's before but none of them have compared to the Fat Duck Inn! Tim and Kim are awesome host! They made us feel welcomed from the moment we arrived. They are warm and friendly people who truly go the extra mile to make your stay with them something extra special. The food is spectacular and the company even better. You will not be disappointed if you have the pleasure to stay at their Inn. Five plus stars to both of them. Looking forward to returning and stay with them again!
