Proving dreams do come true, Tim and Kim Gratzer took over ownership of the Fat Duck Inn in January of 2019, although the Inn’s history began well before that. This 1928 Craftsman is nestled among Walla Walla’s historic homes providing a scenic short walk to downtown shops, restaurants and wineries. At this little slice of heaven in Walla Walla, guests can enjoy all of our wonderful amenities including made-to-order breakfasts, a beautiful garden patio and every afternoon the home is filled with the smells of fresh-baked cookies. Remember our motto: Come as guests, leave as friends.

Detailed Reviews
Tim and Kim Gratzer (owners of The Fat Duck Inn) could not have been more generous and welcoming during our stay. Every summer we make a road trip to Walla Walla to play golf and wine taste for five days. We always stay at bed and breakfasts and this year we chose The Fat Duck based upon a previous stay which at the time was under different ownership. The new owners are phenomenal. Not only did they provide clean, comfortable accommodations, but they also spent their evenings with us enjoying the local wines and sharing their backgrounds. The breakfasts that Tim prepared each morning were superb. He makes each breakfast to order which we have NEVER experienced in the 20 years we've been staying at B&B's. The ingredients were fresh including vegetables and herbs from their own gardens. The presentations were picture perfect. Kim kept a keen eye on serving us making sure all was right. They really make a great team. BTW, their outdoor courtyard is the best place to unwind after a day on the links. And the bedding and mattresses for lower back pain sufferers like ourselves were super comfortable. My husband and I would give an additional star if the above rating allowed.

We rented the entire inn for a group of friends. The Inn was lovely, with all but one room having it's own bathroom. The rooms were large enough to have a couch, and the bed was very comfortable. Spacious bathroom as well. We prepared meals for 10, the kitchen was very well stocked, and easy to use. We enjoyed the patio as well. Our whole group said we would choose this house again for a return trip, or stay in the inn if traveling with a smaller group.

My boyfriend and I visited for a long weekend back in June. We both had the most amazing time! The room was perfect and Kim and Tim were incredibly hospitable and made the BEST food. Both of them were extremely welcoming and had great recommendations on restaurants and wineries to visit. It was the perfect place to stay for a few days and we’ll be back soon! They’re tagline “come as guests, leave as friends” couldn’t be more accurate!

I was first attracted to the food pictures on their website (food is my love language). Drove up and wow what a fabulous place! Tim and Kim were the perfect, smiling, happy hosts. Breakfast literally could not have been more delicious. Tim really has a talent for pulling the right ingredients together to make the most wonderful dishes. We stayed in the Pintail room and it was perfect, absolutely spotless, and the bed comfy. You can walk to town if you don't mind a 10 - 15 minute walk. The neighborhood is quiet and very pretty. The Fat Duck Inn is the only place we'll stay when visiting Walla Walla from now on.

For the past seven years, my husband and I have traveled to Walla Walla to play amazing golf (Wine Valley GC), taste delicious wine, and stay with Kim and Tim Gratzer at The Fat Duck Inn, our favorite Bed & Breakfast. Their hosting is, by far, the finest we have ever experienced anywhere. Both my husband and I have over 70 years of combined experience working for a major US airline. We have stayed at hundreds of hotels around the world, yet gravitate to Bed & Breakfasts as our preferred lodging. Kim's warm hospitality combined with Tim's culinary creativity (what other B&B provides an a la carte menu?) put this Inn far above any that we have ever experienced worldwide. BTW, Tim is also a wonderfully warm host and he and Kim might join you on the golf course or take you out for wine tasting as an added bonus! And of course, the rooms are beautifully appointed with VERY comfortable beds, soft sheets, and well-appointed bathrooms.
Plans to return in 2023 are already in motion! Our hats off to this amazing couple!

We've been to several B&Bs in various parts of the states.
Kim and Tim were great hosts. Breakfast his made to order, versus having what is planned for that day in other B&Bs. And, it's really good food.
We are from the area originally , but this is in a location that allows visitors easy access to the old Walla Walla architecture; which is very beautiful. Walla Walla itself does not suffer by comparison to other U.S. towns, in this regard.
Your hosts are also good at reading your personality and are adept at recommending current activities happening in town that you might enjoy. They are people people.....

We returned to the Fat Duck Inn recently and, once again, Tim and Kim made us feel right at home while at the same time giving us the Royal Treatment. I can't imagine a couple more suited to be hosts at a B&B. Combine the genuine friendliness along with the absolutely excellent service, and you have the perfect B&B. The rooms are comfortable with all of the necessary amenities, privacy and cleanliness. And a perfect patio for a restful evening nightcap.
Tim, and his sous chef Kim provide the type of breakfasts and dinners (upon request) that you would expect from the finest restaurant, all while making you feel like you are family.
Be sure to request that they take you on a wine tour and you will be the envy of every other winery guest when Tim brings in his famous traveling charcuterie board.
You may come to Walla Walla for the wine, but when you look back at your stay there, its the Fat Duck Inn and Tim and Kim that you will remember as being the highlight of your trip.

My wife and I visited Walla Walla for a few days and stayed at the Fat Duck Inn. In short, it was great experience all around. We loved our room which was on the top floor (Merganser). It was very spacious and cozy and had everything we'd want.
The food at the Fat Duck Inn is fantastic. each morning we enjoyed made to order hot breakfasts supplemented with additional treats from their well stocked pantry. We also ate dinner there on one of the evenings and were just blown away by both the delicious food and the warm service by our hosts, Tim and Kim. We also had a wonderful time on a winery tour led by Tim which included an amazing lunch spread.
Our visit to Walla Walla was very enjoyable and memorable. Tim and Kim were such warm and caring hosts and made us feel very much at home throughout our stay.

My wife and I returned to Fat Duck Inn this past week with our daughter. Tim and Kim are without question the best B&B hosts that we have ever encountered. From the moment you walk into the door you are made to feel welcomed and like part of the family. Returning here was like going to see old friends who always make you feel special. You simply can not go wrong with staying at the Fat Duck Inn, from Tim's awesome home cooked breakfast to Kim's gracious hospitality. These two are truly very special people and their love for what they do is quite evident in everything they do for their guests. Five stars is not enough!!

What a fantastic 2 nights we stayed there. The hosts (Kim and Tim) were fun to talk with. We had a huge room, comfortable bed, with a large bathroom, which included a soaking tub. The breakfasts were all made to order (and delicious), and there was a lot of it (I couldn't eat it all). It is just a few blocks from all of the downtown tasting rooms (a very easy walk past some beautiful old houses). If we ever get back to Walla Walla, we will definitely stay there again. Thanks, Kim and Tim, for a delightful stay at your beautiful place.
