My husband and I were on holiday from the UK and stayed for 1 night in October during our road trip through Mississippi. Baer House was a great find and we couldn’t have been more pleased with our choice. Patricia greeted us on arrival and showed us to our room. Was very helpful with suggestions of what to do with our short time in Vicksburg and restaurant recommendations. Our room was spotless, spacious and comfortable and we were served a delicious breakfast the following morning which was enjoyed around the dining table with other guests. Plus Patricia gave us all a brief history of Baer House which was very interesting. Baer House is very conveniently located to restaurants in the historic area. A short walk there and back although uphill on return. Not an issue for us. But something to consider if it is. Thank you Patricia for making our short stay a successful one. We recently traveled through the state of Mississippi for a little historical winter get away. We had the pleasure of staying at the beautifully elegant Baer House for 2 nights. Our room was comfortable and well appointed with charming furnishings. Lovely place settings and a delicious breakfast greeted us each morning. I apprecated the attention to detail and the relaxing atmosphere to begin our day. Patricia was informative about the area and gave us great suggestions for dinner and places to visit. I would recommend the Baer House.

Patricia and her husband run a charming B&B in the historic district. Our room (located on the front of the house, second floor with the turret visible from the outside) was well appointed, clean, and comfortable. The property is well maintained, in general, though our room could have used a little fresh paint and fix-up. Patricia was friendly and very helpful in helping us select a place for dinner. Her breakfast the next morning was delicious, and way too much to finish.
The location was perfect for getting to the downtown shops, restaurants, and attractions, and convenient to the battlefield. For those planning a trip, you should know there are 21 steps to the second floor, and I don't know if first floor accommodations are available. Also, our bed was VERY high, and a set of steps was provided (on one side) to climb in. It's all quaint and charming, but could be a problem if mobility is an issue. All in all, I would highly recommend a visit for the agile who are looking for something a little different than the chain hotels.

We had a period room with a modern bath...perfect.Hosts were informative and yet gave us space to relax and ask. We don’t like overly decorative B and Bs so this was right. Hosts knew the very rich history of this property and the breakfast was excellent fuel for walking about in Vicksburg without all the sweet pastries that you something’s see.

I could not be more pleased with our stay at the Baer house. The beds were comfortable the Inn was spectacular and clean. Patricia did everything she could to make us feel at home. Breakfast was wonderful in the morning. I highly recommend staying at the bear house if you’re in Vicksburg or near the area.

Charming, old southern mansion with spacious, antique-filled rooms. Very clean. Patricia is a wonderful host, respected our covid concerns and made sure we felt comfortable. We did! Hot, homemade breakfast, different each morning, was delicious. Quiet, walkable, free parking. Everything you need for wonderful trip back in time. Patricia even loaned us a CD tour for our drive through the historic Vicksburg Military Park. We were wowed by the decor, comfort, and hospitality of the Baer House Inn.

We loved staying in this well-maintained and thoughtfully updated historic home. The private, off-street parking leads to a back porch where the innkeeper greeted us, and led us inside to retrieve our room key and tell us about the house amenities as well as recommendations for area activities and dining. We stayed in a lovely room called The General, which is one of the rooms with a private bath. The bedrooms have mini-split air conditioning units, and The General has a ceiling fan as well; we were very comfortable despite the late summer heat. Coffee service began at 7 a.m. and breakfast was served at 8:30. The hosts were attuned to the specific dietary needs of their guests and, while we did not have any restrictions, I observed other guests being accommodated graciously. Around the large dining table we enjoyed conversation with couples from the US, UK, and Denmark, one of the unique delights of stying at a small inn. We wished we had been able to arrive earlier and stay longer to enjoy more time in the parlor/library and den, and to enjoy another lovely breakfast.

I would stay at the Baer House again in a heartbeat. The place is one block the famous Old Courthouse Museum, and just two or three blocks from other great attractions and restaurants. The owners keep the Baer House immaculately clean, and provide a delightful breakfast in a beautiful dining room that's full of history. I stayed in the Scarlet Room. There was no traffic noise and the bed was super comfortable. I could control the AC in the room to my liking, and the bathroom was spotless. There's a billiards room on the main floor. Free parking is available for every guest, and the backyard even has a patio with a firepit. You'll need to be able to climb stairs, because the house is true to its original 1870 layout. The owner even give tours.

Our stay at The Baer House Inn in Vicksburg was memorable and delightful. The house was filled with antiques and was restored to its original splendor. We stayed in the Generals' room which was filled with photos, artifacts, and books about the Civil War. Every corner and wall had something interesting to examine. Our breakfast was delicious and our host charming. We had a wonderful experience and learned much about the history of the house and old Vicksburg.

We arrived early and were graciously accommodated by Patricia. The home is warm, inviting, and grand. We were surrounded by art and a festive atmosphere. Rooms were comfortable, and we took advantage of the common areas too, marveling at antiques and original woodwork while Patricia was happy to share stories about the home's history with us. Breakfasts were DELICIOUS. We highly recommend!
