Great Valley House is an extremely interesting building with a ton of history behind it. The original home is mostly intact, including the original mantel over the huge fireplace in the old kitchen. Unfortunately it is in desperate need of upgrades and a good cleaning. All of the negative reviews are accurate. Also, their website is extremely deceiving. My wife... More

The Great Valley House was a fabulous and super-interesting place to stay while partaking in an intense skill enhancement seminar. It was my home away from home. The owners of this unique and quirky home are a lovely couple, Pattye & Jeff. They were always nice and accommodating my entire week stay. It was fantastic to hear all about the... More

We have stayed at bed and breakfast for the last 25 years, and this was one of the worst. The bed was old, hard and lumpy. Dust on corners, on pictures, around shower door, toilet and coming out of air conditioner. The room was nicely decorated, and inn keeper was helpful providing directions to restaurants. Stay at Alpendorp bed and... More

First off, after our first night, we decided to check out and spend time staying with family in the area. Pattye, our hostess allowed us to pay for just two nights instead of the three we had reserved. That said, we found this lovely home to be creepy, dark, overcrowded with way too much clutter and also dirty. What a... More

We have stayed at quite a few B&Bs and thought this one would be unique. It certainly was! A very old house, a very interesting history but a very dirty, dusty and dark place. There was just so much stuff everywhere too. I tried to sleep but was not able to because the moldy atmosphere was causing my throat to... More

This is not quaint nor historically romantic. This is an old, dingy, dusty, creepy inn. It needs a complete renovation and deep clean. We did not find the place charming, rather mildewy. With so many other great places to stay in this area, do no pay for a stay here.

We planned a visit to Valley Forge to see some revolutionary war sites and decided to stay in one of the oldest homes in the area which is now an inn. The house is unique and situated on 5+ acres. It has its own swimming pool and a few acres to tramp through. The room we stayed in was large... More

Pattye Benson has been running her B&B for over 30 years and that experience translates to comfortable, well-appointed accommodations and delicious breakfasts for her guests. She also is a wealth of information on the local history. The Great Valley House is loaded with history. Its original building (where you'll eat breakfast and check out the amazing 12-foot walk-in fireplace and... More

I should begin by saying that I have stayed in dozens of B & Bs around the country, so I have some experience. I strongly urge travelers to avoid the Great Valley House. Here is a list of some of its deficiencies: *There is no common indoor space (living room, for example) for guests to read or chat. I had... More

We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay at Great Valley House. Hosts were friendly, helpful, personable, and a wealth of knowledge. They have a great respect for the history of the home and the surrounding area, as evidenced in every corner of the home, via antique overload. In fact, we were told that this is the oldest home in... More
