Powered by AI

The Aqua Skyline at Island Colony garners praise for its friendly and helpful service, though guests have flagged occasional lapses in responding to requests. While the pool and in-room kitchen facilities are highlights for many visitors, others express frustration over sporadic closures and unexpected fees, notably for the fitness center. Cleanliness generally meets expectations, with renovated bathrooms and well-kept rooms, though some guests note inconsistency in maid service. Opinions on value are divided; some guests appreciate the affordability, while others are disappointed by undisclosed charges and the condition of the facilities. Room maintenance, including issues with dust, cockroaches, and musty odors, has been a concern for several travelers.

Clean room and just a few blocks from the International Market and beach. Salt water pool and jacuzzi were really nice. My complaint is the loud pool noise. The pool closes at 10:00 p.m. and people were making a lot of noise until well after midnight. I called the front desk to complain and the manager said they would take care of it but that didn't happen. Also, 1 load of laundry at their facility cost $15.00!! You had to pay $5.00 for the laundry card and put a minimum of $10.00 on it. Biggest ripoff!

I would have given this hotel a 5 but one of the security guards was very rude to us. We had 4 rooms and was having a great time by the picnic area and he came scolding us for not wearing a mask even though we were eating and sitting on separate tables. He didn't do that to the other party. There was another security guard that was awesome and I wish I gotten both of their names.

The positive side of our stay was the front desk.

I would like to say that there were two employees that stood out while we stayed at the hotel. When we checked in we were checked in by Cane and when we checked out we were checked out by Dan. Both of these gentlemen made both check in and check out seamless. They explained everything to us and when we needed any extra towels or toiletries they were on it.

The clerk at front desk that worked at night was good and attentive but our overall experience was terrible. Our hotel room kitchen was dirty before we even got settled in. The room had roaches in the kitchen bathroom and room . There were termites in the cabinets and door. Ask housekeeping to come clean up the shavings and they did a terrible Job and didn’t even clean up the mess just basically swept it on the kitchen floor. Termite shavings reappeared after being cleaned up . Housekeeping is not very attentive and doesn’t bring anything to room . Rooms need to be sprayed for roaches and termites . Rooms need to be clean thoroughly and check being guest come.

Jaime was the guest service agent who checked us in and checked us out. He had great customer service and just really made a person feel welcomed. Our room was beautiful with a panoramic view of the city and beaches with a very nice size balcony. We felt like the room was well sanitized and cleaned to perfection upon entry, Highly recommended for Hawaii locals and visitors who want that island feel.

Overall, it was a nice stay. Not too far from Waikiki beach (5-10 min) and close to bus stop. One block from Starbucks and walkable to many restaurants and stores. We had an end unit on the 25th floor and had a view facing the west and north, which we can also see the sunrise. The kitchenette is equipped for basic cooking - 2 burner electric stove. Other appliances that we used were the microwave, coffee maker and water boiler, of course, fridge. There is ice on the 6th floor where the pool is. We never used the pool.

The front desk was courteous and easy to get supplies (towels, coffee, shampoo, kitchen sponge). You can also ask for beach towels and umbrellas to use outside of the hotel. Just be aware that there is an amenities fee ($25/night) that covers wifi, phone, movies/games, etc. There is a small cafe called Forty niners that open for breakfast.

Beds were comfortable. Our room had a queen size bed and a pull-out single sofa bed, which was surprisingly comfortable.

It was a good stay.

The location is great- walking distance to Royal Hawaiian Center and Waikiki Beach as well as plenty of street parking along the canal for free. BUT the housekeeping is nonexistent. Staff at the front desk will replenish your towels, shampoos and lotions. Housekeeping came on the 4th day only. She literally picked the dirty towels off the bathroom floor and refolded them, replacing them on the racks. Did not wash any of the utensils in the sink, and has not checked the closet in at least two guest cycles. Elevators are slow and there are lots of “interesting” residents including the lady wearing socks for each day of the week, carrying two flip phones and four laptops in her bag at all times !?!?!
Nice staff, but not worth the Waikiki pricing at all. Air conditioners in ALL units were antiquated Frigidaire window boxes that are super loud and inefficient.

Our stay was pleasant and relaxing. Wanted some time out with the family. Our rooms were great. We had a small kitchenette that included a hot plate, sink, rice cooker, microwave, a pot, pan, cups and utensils. The view of the city was beautiful on our huge lanai. The cost to use the gym for my entire stay was only $5 per person. The pool and jacuzzi was open for a few hours and closed for an hour to thoroughly be cleaned. The use of the BBQ grills was awesome. Thank you Derek in Security for your help and keeping us safe.

Front desk team were very friendly, professional and helpful. Cani, Dan anf Jaime were fantastic. Helped us throughout our entire stay.

Huge SUV’s will not fit in the parking. Parking is $30 a day unless you can find parking in the surrounding area. We had a blast and will definitely stay here again.

Upon arrival we were notified that the Pool and Spa were closed for maintenance for almost the entire duration of our stay. They re-opened on the 21st Nov and we departed on the 22nd Nov. Traveling with a young child and having specifically chosen Aqua Skyline because of the pool this was very disappointing. To add to the disappointment when staff were asked if the hotel had made arrangements for guests to use a neighboring hotel/apartments pool during the maintenance period the answer was "no, but there is a beach just down the road". This shows a complete lack of foresight by management and detracted from what would have otherwise been a been a great stay. The pool closure was not listed anywhere on your website, or on third party booking sites like Hotels.com. I appreciate that closing amenities for maintenance is necessary but putting a little bit more thought into how this might affect guest experience and how you could offer a good alterative during that time would not go amiss.

My wife and I were sent to Hawaii temporarily for business. Aqua Skyline did a great job making us feel welcome and the room service was always on point. The hotel is fairly priced and is within walking distance to Waikiki Beach, Honolulu Zoo, and plenty of places to eat.

During Covid restrictions, we did have to quartine for two weeks before going out, but it was worth it. Out of quartine, the hotel staff was very serious about keeping themselves and their guest safe.

Was my 2nd trip to hawaii and this time with grown son. Hotel was all and more. Tuesday nites for 5 pm margaritas and snacks on rooftop were nice extra. Pool, laundry and mini store on 6th floor were easy to get to and very nice. Room on 42nd had mini kitchen, 2 double beds plus usual amenities. Patio or porch had great view and comfortable seating. Location in walking distance to beach, shops and even st. Augustine church on shady side of street. We had rented car. Parking was secure but tight. Concierge an asset. Room service excellent. Use ABC stores nearby for anything!

Is parking free?
Answer from William C
Vancouver, Canada112 contributions199 helpful votes
Hi there As someone said to me after a few days in Hawaii... nothing's free here! And so it is with the parking, I think they wanted $20 a night for parking although I might be understating it. You're better off to rent a car by the day and take it back at night. We found that the transit day pass served our needs well enough , it's cheap and it takes you to all of the points of interest.
xilas asked a question Apr 2017
car parking rate
Answer from rondeevoux

Honestly, we've found that the best way to go is to rent a car in the building or a few blocks away and just return it every night rather than paying any parking fee. Once you've driven the Island and went where you want to on your own, there are a lot of great tours that will take you to your destination (without the headache of driving). And, since the condos/hotel is so centrally located in Waikiki, there are so many places to go within walking distance. I hope this help! Aloha!
