Aloha! Once again, we've visited for our annual vacation and have thoroughly enjoyed our trip yet again! Just to reiterate, we come to visit all the wonderful Unko's and Auntie's that work at this wonderful Resort, which we've been coming since before kids (now 14 and 9). We would like to thank everyone from the front desk (Irene and Keloa and others) to the Veranda Bar (Brian, Jarrett, Wade, Matt, Zech and others), Snack Bar (Sheri, Nancy and others), Pool (Collin, Lee, Isaac and others) to the Beach Bar (Marnie, Harry, Clayt, Peter Ono, Peter E., James K., John-John, Craig, Tommy, Eddie, and others plus all the servers!!! These hard working folks and all other staff are the ones holding it down for spot! Many thanks again for the Aloha and we'll see you all again next year!!! Wongz

From check in to check out we had a great stay. The room was very clean and had a beautiful view of the ocean . The staff was friendly and attentive. The pool like others have said is small and the chairs are all taken very early in the am, but we are beach people and didn’t mind. We parked our car and only moved it for long day trips , everything else was in easy walking distance. Many options for restaurants and shopping nearby.

Beautiful view of the surfers in Waikiki. We sat on the balcony enjoying the cool breeze and watching all the surfers. This hotel is right in the middle of Waikiki beach with so many restaurants and shops all around. Nightly music is very pleasant. The staff is wonderful and will do what they can to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Of course, as every single place I’ve been there are never enough lounge chairs around the pool. I’ve yet to stay at a hotel or condo with enough lounge chairs around the pool. But this place is still 5 out of 5.

This was our first visit to Hawaii. I loved the Moana's sense of history and style. The location was great with many walkable shops and restaurants. Our room was ocean front with a balcony and beautiful views. Newer, trendier hotels may have more amenities (ie USB ports everywhere) but we were very comfortable. The staff was friendly and very helpful with any questions.

Having the 3rd time visiting Hawaii, we wanted to try out Moana Surfrider this round. Our party of 7 booked 3 rooms for a week. At a 5-star price tag, do not mistake you’ll get ANY 5-star service. The rooms are equipped with basics like a kettle, an ancient single-cup coffee maker, cheap quality bar soap and shampoo. You have to make a request for everything else. Life seems easier if you managed to order on the apps and the staff at the other end acknowledged your request….from experience, you’ll end up waiting for the delivery after 24 hours. Room cleaning was average, I checked in my room finding a half-finished bottle of ice tea in the fridge. Water pressure on the higher floor was a joke. Not knowing if they’re understaffed or underpaid...the staff at the front desk cannot greet you properly and do not value your business. I found Mr. Keola especially rude and blunt to talk to. Apart from the long history of this building, Moana Surfrider does not have anything to shout about in terms of location and service. There are a lot of choices in the neighbourhood that can make a pleasant stay.

We are Titanium Elite members and have stayed at the Moana for the past five years. I fully understand that they were closed due to Covid and forced to stop providing many of the guest amenities during the pandemic once they reopened. However, we were there last Feb. and it's amazing how they completely jumped on the COVID CONVENIENCE bandwagon; taking complete advantage of their guests! They eliminated everything that cost them money!! It was so obvious and even the concierge agreed with us that they are using Covid as an excuse to save money! Sadly, the welcome orchid lei was eliminated. The In-room dining & the beach club lounge were still not in operation. As Titanium Elite members, we loved the beach club lounge! And we deserved it! Last year, they gave us an $8 voucher to eat breakfast at The Veranda restaurant, which is way overpriced, rather than a complimentary "token" breakfast the Beach Club Lounge! Thankfully, the Beach Bar was running at full capacity; elbow to elbow, not one bit worried about Covid contact because it's a cash cow for them! Again, the Moana Surfrider is using Covid as an excuse, but really just taking advantage of the guest by NOT providing them with the amenities they pay for AND deserve! They have entertainment in their reception area and my husband and I were sitting on the couch listening to the music. The waiter asked us to leave because we weren't purchasing drinks! Again, THE reception area, and we are Titanium Elite guests! Get off the bandwagon and get on the ball, Weston! You are disgraceful! Sadly, we'll be staying somewhere else in February!

Our family stayed here in early June. We have two teenage daughters. This is a beautiful historic hotel in the middle of Waikiki Beach. Along with the historic portion it has a more modern wing as well. The entrance was stunning with rocking chairs and a beautiful façade. The public space inside is elegant, open and airy. Check-in was great. Im a platinum and they gave me an upgrade to an ocean view. Rooms are small. Very little storage. Had to live out of my suitcase. A bit dated. The view though, is spectacular. Our view looked down the beach at Diamond head. The star of the show is the back courtyard with the banyan tree and beach bar. Just an amazing space. The pool is actually bigger than it appeared online and bigger than what it was proclaimed to be in reviews. It’s a decent size pool. May be a little small for the size of a hotel but not horrible. You do need to get there by 7 AM if you want a chair. Actually, I kept towels and put them on chairs before 7 AM. There will be a line very long at 7 AM to get a towel and a lot of the chairs will already be taken. They do a good job of monitoring chairs and putting little cards on them and watching if people are gone more than an hour. They have beach chairs and umbrellas for rent but if you want a prime spot you need to make a reservation for the following day early The day before. The beach itself is beautiful with a great view of Diamondhead. The beach house restaurant is beautiful and right on the ocean. They have a prix fix menu and is very expensive. It’s worth a splurge night. The beach bar area serves really good food and more affordable than the Beachhouse of course. But still not cheap but nothing is at a resort. There is tons of seating at the bar and tables in the area. They also have servers to roam to pool and beach chairs. They seem to have live music in one part of the lobby every night. It’s an old odd area and not sure what that was all about. They had live music out by the beach bar every night. Service was amazing. From start to finish. The front desk people were amazing, all of the breakfast servers were amazing, the bar staff were super amazing. Only one downfall. One night while I was at the Beach bar there was a woman causing major issues. Being boisterous picking fights with other patrons. I appreciate your patience but they should have gotten her out of there a lot earlier. Her and her husband ended up getting in the face of another couple and the cops were called. Again, they tried to do a good job of having patience but they should have put a stop to it earlier. Then the next day some old man gets punched repeatedly in the face by a teenager and now the cops are called again. So, wasn’t in line with the quality of this place and stirred up some anxiety but I try to look at it as entertainment. If you have young children, you may want to stay at the Sheraton or Hilton. There is just more to do on site. If you have older kids or or a couple then this is your place. Overall an amazing place to stay in the heart of everything.

The Moana is an icon in Waikiki. The building and courtyard onto the beach are gorgeous. The service is top notch. It’s a busy spot so the pool is always packed and is quite small. Beach chairs are not included in your stay and quite expensive to rent. Our room was beside the street and the street performers were quite loud until 10pm. We had friends stay at the newly renovated Marriott property down the road where it was quieter, had a bigger pool, cheaper restaurant options, and was half the price. We would likely stay there next time based on our preferences. Was great to stay at the iconic Moana to experience it.
