I used this hotel for price and hopes of not getting a room with traffic noise - I read many reviews of various rooms with this problem. It is on Lewers, one block from the beach so main traffic does not flow down this road. Our room was on the back side, so we looked onto another hotel. The lanai was small - of no real use except fresh air. 5 minutes walk to a small beach. Sandy entry into the ocean. Cold showers are at that beach and you can rinse your feet again when you get to the back door of the hotel. The laundry was great - many washers and dryers. A large table for folding afterwards. It is also open air on one side with views to the ocean - so lovely to sit and wait if you so chose. The room was clean with a full kitchen. I slept on the Murphy bed - was surprised how easy it was to pull it down and put away - bedding stayed in place. I did find it firm to sleep on - I requested something to soften it - and housekeeping arranged egg cup foam layer. Problem resolved. The kitchen did lack counter space so that made it difficult to cook. Simple meals will work fine - we like home cooked food. We managed. The pool is on the rooftop - basic rectangle. It was enjoyed by other guests. There is a good exercise room - I needed it to keep up shoulder exercises. Wifi and DVD player were good. Overall I do recommend it for location, price, no street noise issue. The staff were great. We used valet parking - easy. It is also a great location for walking around Waikiki.

The dominant reason i enjoy staying here is the employees. Most of whom have been here for years. Don't let the opening statement fool you, the employees are focused on the hospitality experience. Helpful, cheerful, and friendly. from the bell desk to the front desk you will feel and come to know Ohana. We have come to know of the resort because my father is a vacation share owner. (just to get that out for disclosure) which is how we discovered the Imperial, but we have stayed there as a regular guest ( when dad wanted both weeks those years) the experience did not change. They are doing regular renovations and updating. this happens over time, but there is a chance for some of the appliances to seem dated. Last year the pool was renovated. We have not had a problem with things not functioning, but if that happens they is on-site maintenance to correct problems. To the amenities; The pool is on the roof. the fitness area Gym, sauna, 2 hot tubes are on the 3rd floor. there is a full laundry on the second floor with sets of machines (i think 3-5). the concierge can handle excursions, car rentals and tours. There are computers and printers for checking travel arrangements or self-help event verification. There are a few different room types that are well detailed in the booking site. we have always had access to a full size fridge with freezer; stove; microwave; and dinnerware and flatware service for at least 4 people. Some of the rooms can seem a little odd with the arrangement of the furniture placement compared to the floor plan. Best recommendation when you arrive, figure out the sleeping arrangement (will you use the hide-a-bed or murphy bed) and set the room for sleeping. then see how best to re-arrange the furniture. once done put the beds away, unpack and start vacationing. From the imperial is is a short walk to most anywhere. if you have trouble walking, check with the bell desk they can get an electric scooter delivered.(and most everything else. those people rock) south a half block and you're in the water. North a block and you're at Kalakaua Blvd.2 blocks west is the post office (most cost effective way to get souvenirs home) and the bus stops. East of the hotel is Waikiki and Diamond head (but there are a few buildings in the way) there is not a direct route, but if you enjoy exploring there are some great shortcuts to be found.

Room was great except the fish smell in the room upon arrival. Very good view and very friendly and helpful staff. Owners lounge was great, great view to watch the fireworks from the Hale Koa. Pool was super except when guests had their dogs in the water and had babies with diapers on in the water.

Great location in downtown with excellent customer service. Building is older, and units are small, but well kept and comfortable. Our biggest concern was noise - the single pane windows allowed us to hear everything - loud construction next door, sirens, early trucks - even on the 17th floor.

We decided to stay in the Imperial Resort Waikiki because of its location next to the beach, above a Denny's and large ABC store. The staff were great and the room large that had a kitichen, 2 bathrooms, a separate bedroom and a pull down double murphy bed and sofa bed. The pool is small but OK and they have a sauna and small hot tub.
