We stayed in 3608. The hotel carpet stinks so bad, we had to hold our nose from the room to the elevator. There is no A/C in the hallways or elevators. Very uncomfortable. I would not stay here again. The wash room was awful. The dryer stole my money.
We had 4 nights at the Waikiki Monarch and found it to be a strange experience. We booked it through Booking.com and stayed in apartment 2703A. On the positive side, our apartment had an amazing view of Waikiki, right out to the ocean, as well as along the canal – very inspiring! The location also was very good, situated on the western end of Wikiki. It was only a 10min walk to the beach and about 10min over to Ala Moana Mall and beach park. There was a good internet-enabled TV with about every channel and streaming service you could want – really a nice setup. On the negative side, the apartment was not very well cleaned upon our arrival, especially the floor. A couple of the dining chairs and the couch were covered in stains and were downright disgusting. The apartment was lacking a few basics, such as bedside cabinets and dressers/drawers for storing clothes. I had to lay out all my clothes on the floor along the hallway wall. We also felt the lighting was quite dim in the evenings. The kitchen was small and outfitted with only the basics. The kitchen faucet was loose and about ready to fall off – a little basic maintenance would’ve been nice. Another thing that was odd was that there was no reception or other onsite staff which could be called on if required. We were told to collect our key from a little lock box. We arrived at around 1pm, and since we weren’t allowed to check in until the very late hour of 4pm, we asked if we could store our bags and were told we actually had to pay for bag storage ($5/bag) for the 3 hours. It’s the first time we’ve ever had the experience of having to pay for bag storage at the hotel while waiting for check-in! Not impressed! In any case, we won’t be staying here anytime soon. Not recommended – there are so many far better places to stay in Waikiki. Don’t make the mistake we did.…
Nice Hotel needs a little up grade Great view of the river Front desk Very nice people very helpful Was able to use computer and printer Loved the coffee shop Good location able to walk to beach and close to several Restaurants
I stayed at the Monarch to visit family in Honolulu. My flight in was delayed and my luggage ended up in a different flight. I was exhausted from the travel and worried about my luggage. Vanessa was in duty when I checked into the hotel. I told her my tale and she jumped into action and called the airport to assist in finding out the status of my bag. She even reached out to a friend at the airport! When my bag finally was delivered to the hotel, she called me to let me know it was there. This was way above and beyond any service I've ever had anywhere. The next day, she showed me non tourist beaches on the island. She's great. The room I had was small, but I don't need much as I was out and about most of the time. The shower had plenty of room to dry my swimming gear. I had a view of the canal and the ocean from my window. There is an amazing coffee shop on the first floor and a 7-11 and rental bikes at the corner. There are also laundry facilities, not gratt, but the got the job done. The only down side of my stay was the the elevators are sometimes out of order. But they are fixed by the next day. The hotel shares a tower with apartments, so it's an impressive experience. This is usually what I prefer to the spa like experience of luxury hotels. I will most likely stay at the Monarch again when I'm in Honolulu.…
Nice hotel with a nice view of the river. If you want a budget friendly place to stay i recommend this hotel. Good location in Waikiki you can walk going to the beach like 15 mins. RYKKY and SHERYL were so hospitable and show us excellent service. Thank you so much! We will be back again.
Be Forewarned! This "hotel" is a mix between a shelter and a half way house. You are greeted by a front desk person giving you the attitude. Then sent to a room that reminds you back in your college dorm days. Except its more dirty. The doors creeks, the fridge was loud, I shut it off and that flooded my room because apparently there was ice in the freezer. The sheets were full of mold and they even placed a pee pad underneath it! The sheets were so thin. I slept with all my clothes on. I cant believe they were charging $195 for the room PLUS a "RESORT" fee of $17.00!!!!! What resort?! The parking next door charges $40. It's really like being raped from every point with ALOHA. All the positive reviews here are most likely written by their crooked staff. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
BEWARE: If you have flight cancellations this hotel does not work with you. We had 4 rooms booked for one night, and at no fault of mine, our flights were cancelled out of LAX and we were not able to be in Honolulu for our first nights stay. This hotel was not accommodating to our situation. After several attempts of explaining our situation, staff and supervisors appeared not to care!
This place was advertised as a work from home location but it is absolutely disgusting & infested with cockroaches. Ive stayed in long term stays in O'ahu and I've never had a bad experience until now. The place is infested with roaches, smells bad, there was pubic hair all over the room. The walls are also paper thin and people are playing loud music/being loud in the hallways. Do yourself a huge favor and book something nicer. Your physical and mental health deserve it.
Hi place is so nice and Nykky was like super nice and accomodating, she assisted me all the way down, give me instructions on all the things I need to know. I really love the service. This is my 2nd time here and I will still choose to stay in Monarch when I come back to visit. I find it very clean and

Everything was there in one place Walking distance to the Waikiki beach Music on the street at night Nice location Special thanks to Taila and Vanessa who were so informative and friendly with us during our entire stay
