This was the first time I stayed at The Laylow Hotel...boy was I impressed! From the modern design, hotel amenities, location to the wonderful staff, the Laylow hotel truly exceeded all my expectations. SUZANNE, the operations supervisor, definitely exuded the warm, aloha spirit that the Hawaiian islands is known for. Loved my stay so much that I booked my next hotel trip!!

First, the bad: 1. Parking leaves something to be desired. BUT, it is a a hotel in the city, so you can’t really be shocked there. Another reviewer commented they had to park at the mall next door, and we did too, but it wasn’t a problem. It was very close and convenient and I was glad the hotel offered that as an option rather than their parking, which was awful. We also had to walk in the rain a couple of days, but that isn’t the hotel’s fault, plus, it is literally only like 100 feet that you are outdoors. 2. Housekeeping isn’t automatic, because of COVID. This is a Marriott thing though, not limited to this hotel. But we had no problems at all asking for more towels and toilet paper. When we needed more, they brought them right to us and the one day we requested housekeeping they cleaned our room, so this wasn’t a problem for us, but I know some people want service every day for their rooms. 3. Marriott Reservations- unfortunately, Marriott corporate messed up my reservation and at first it was going to be a problem. The hotel was amazing though. I am still listing this as a bad thing though because I was so disappointed in Marriott’s corporate response. Now, the good: 1. Suzanne at the front desk - as mentioned above, corporate messed up my reservation and sold me a package that they then refused to honor. Without going into too much detail, my package was supposed to include several things, but when I got there, I was told that wasn’t included, even though I had the email confirming my package and what was included. I was going to leave the hotel, but Suzanne saved the day. Her service was amazing and she tried to accommodate as much as she could. I would return to this hotel just based on her service alone. She is an amazing asset to the front desk. Every time I came down, she always checked on us and talked to us and made sure everything was going well and always greeted us by name. I was very impressed with her. 2. The service- besides Suzanne, everyone else was amazing too. Marianne at The Hideout breakfast place in the morning was fantastic. Very friendly and remembered what we ordered each day. The rest of the front desk staff was also amazing as well as everyone we came into contact with. 3. The hotel itself - another recent review stated the hotel needed to be updated. I completely disagree. The hotel is styled to look like “old school Hawaii,” and it kind of has a 60s vibe, but it is supposed to. All of the furniture and stuff in the lobby is very clean and new, but it is meant to look retro. I personally loved the decor. 4. Cleanliness- the hotel is very clean. They seemed to do a good job maintaining social distance and they all wore masks, all the time. I felt very safe there. 5. The location - the location is very good. Tons of restaurants and the beach within walking distance. Overall, a very nice stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel for someone looking for an upscale but laid back experience.

Aloha RebeccaC444, thank you so much for your detailed review of your recent stay with us. It is wonderful to hear how safe and comfortable you felt because of the protocols we have in place and also due to the the great service provided by the team including Suzanne and Marianne. I will be sure to pass on your kind words. I am also pleased that our mid-century modern design was to your liking as well as the location, only a short walk to the beach and close to some of the islands best shopping. I hope we will be able to welcome you back in the near future and hopefully you will then be able to explore Hideout, our onsite outdoor restaurant, with its nightly live entertainment, great cocktails and our famous Modern Hapa Hawaiian cuisine. A hui hou - until we meet again

This was a fairly highly rated Marriott hotel, category 6, so I expected the hotel to be acceptable. Wow was I disappointed! The rooms had been redone and were okay but the common areas overall a bit outdated. They had no parking so had to park at the nearby mall everyday. It rained a lot which left me walking in the rain to the hotel and back whenever I went anywhere in the car. Due to Covid they weren’t servicing rooms unless scheduled, reasonable, so I scheduled one half way through my stay when I first checked in. They never showed up. When I called they apologized and said they’d come the next day, they did show up, but only to take the $10 tip I left them. They touched nothing else, just took the money and the thank you note. I was out of towels and toilet paper at that point so I called the front desk again. Got another oops sorry answer. I enjoy balconies so I made sure I booked a room with one so I could sit and enjoy the early morning on it. The air conditioning units that were directly across from my city view, which as actually a parking structure eye level view, was so incredibly loud, sitting on the balcony was more annoying than relaxing. Do yourself a favor, if you want to relax and a stress free vacation, Do Not Stay Here.

Covid has changed options for Waikiki. Heard some positive feedback on this Marriott Autograph hotel. The staff is so helpful. My partner has a swallowing issue. Ben, Hideout Manager, basically said we will make it happen. He took menu items and made them work for a person with dysphasia. While there are no bell staff the front desk staff member came down to help us check in and assist with out luggage. Yes housekeeping services are limited but if you need it, just ask and they will help. Staff is A+. We had two issues with our accessible room and in speaking to hotel manager and Gabe they plan to review our recommendations. Listening and proactive action is evident with the hotel staff. Would recommend consideration of this hotel readily.
