I call this a hidden gem because it is located between the Aston and Marriott. Our view of Waikiki Beach was breathtaking. It is also one block over from the zoo and many great restaurants.

My wife and I stayed here for the first few days of our Hawaii trip and loved it! Great location, steps from Waikiki beach and from one of the trolly pickup points, and also easy for cabs / Uber to stop at the corner to...More

This hotel is right near the beach. The staff is friendly. However, it is very loud. We could hear every door on the floor being opened and closed. We could hear the neighbors talking! We had an ocean view (nice) but we could hear the...More

Just a note-If you take a shuttle from the airport, Hotel Renew is on the farthest end of Waikiki Beach. That means you will be the very last stop. If budget is your main concern, that is probably the best way to go. Though with Waikiki traffic, it will be a very long ride. Honolulu airport does not allow Uber pick ups, but some in our group simply walked a ways out of the airport (like where the rental cars are on Nimitz), and used Uber. That is something that you can work out individually with your Uber driver. Hotel Renew is accessible by bypassing the Waikiki Beach Traffic and staying on the freeway-so much quicker. If you take a cab from the airport, they may take you through Waikiki because the slow traffic increases their fare (it happened to me!). Uber does not charge more for traffic. Final option...take a cab to a hotel very close to the airport, then Uber from there. We had some of the nicest, most interesting Uber drivers in Waikiki-they have wonderful advice on your island stay! I hope this was helpful!

It is to far on foot especially if you plan on shopping. The mall is huge and you will be walking a lot while shopping. The bus or trolley is probably your cheaper option but a cab shouldn't be that bad. By car it is a quick trip to the mall. I always rent a car when I am in Hawaii, I consider it a necessity. Plus you can drive out past Pearl city where you will find a large outlet mall, about 45 minutes. If shopping is a highlight of your trip then you should go to Waikele. There are buses that go here as well but I don't know where you would catch one. If you go take your passport so you can get the discount booklet from the information booth. Tourists get discounts from a lot of stores. Have fun.
