Vive Hotel Waikiki earns high marks for its exceptional service, with guests often commending the friendly staff and complimentary perks like breakfast and beach gear. The prime location near Waikiki Beach is a highlight, though some guests note noise from air conditioners and streets. Despite mixed reviews on room size and noise, the overall value is praised for the inclusive amenities.
While cleanliness is generally well-regarded, some areas could benefit from additional attention. The hotel's atmosphere strikes many as inviting, with vibrant touches that contribute to a comfortable stay.

Hotel's Favorite
My wife an I decided to visit Oahu for our bleated honeymoon (married in 2020 during covid so no travel then) and after some research we came across the VIVE Waikiki hotel and we are glad we did.
Our first introduction to the hotel was through the valet service. We decided to rent a car to give us the freedom to explore the island on our own time. We dealt with several team members at the valet service during our stay, and from the first encounter to the last was always a pleasant experience. We were always warmly greeted, made sure we had what we needed for the day and had the car ready to go in no time. Without having to worry about parking downtown, this was a great option for us.
Down the elevator, we entered the beautiful lobby and had an easy-as-can-be check-in. We were even greeted with fresh pineapple juice and a lei greeting (add-on service option). As I said, check in was super easy and we were off to our room in no time, and they even gave us some documents and tips for places to visit in the are and events like live music and fireworks around the area.
Our hotel room was perfect for what we needed including A/C, tv, fridge, desk space, safe, quick wifi, shampoo/conditioner, hair dryer and a bathroom with a hanger for wet clothes after a day at the beach. The turn down service when requested was always ready when we got back to the hotel and they even left us some treats on check in as well as one to celebrate our honeymoon. A wonderful welcoming touch to the experience.
One of the highlights of the stay was the complimentary breakfast each morning. They always consisted of a selection of delicious pastries/breads and fresh fruit like pineapple, melon, strawberries, mango and oranges. They also had eggs (omelette or hard boiled) and a protein (bacon or sausage). I can't forget to mention the star of breakfast, the fresh ice cold pineapple juice. We tried to get as much of this as we could as it was so good.
The hotel also offered anything you might need for a day out on the beach. They have a room dedicated to beach towels, chairs, umbrellas and even a bin that had a pair of goggles and snorkels (saved us a rental when we visited Hanauma Bay. They also have water refill stations near breakfast, the lobby and one on the valet service floor.
Overall, we are both so happy that we chose to stat at VIVE. It had everything we needed for our trip and was so close to amenities like corner stores and too many restaurants to count. Make sure to sign up for their membership to get some great deals.
You won't be dissapointed stay here. Thank you VIVE.

Vive is a wonderful property located less than five minutes down the street from Kuhio Beach at the Duke Kahanamoku statue, and since they are so close to the beach they have beach mats, brellies, and towels available for you convenience.
They give you a cold glass of pineapple juice and a cold rolled towel which is so refreshing when you check in. The front desk clerk Roger was very professional and helpful for the check in process.
If you are expecting the "resort" experience, you will be disappointed with the 275 sq foot rooms without balconies, but the rooms are long and narrow and the queen beds work for singles and couples. If you have a baby or toddler, they offer a pack n play which will make the room seem very small. There is a family room and suite option at 450 Sq feet, but still pretty small compared to other suites.
The main reasons why I booked the Vive, was the free Breakfast, location down the street from the beach and surfboard rentals, and the free breakfast which was a decent breakfast. If you need to leave before they serve breakfast, like to go to Hanauma bay, you can order a take away breakfast the day before.
The only issues I would say is that the downstairs lounge, as beautiful as it is, is not functional as a breakfast space. Additionally, the property know in advance the occupancy so they could provide an overflow for breakfast when the hotel is full, since going up to your tiny room and eating you breakfast on your bed isn't a good option.
The hotel was overall a great value compared to some of the other older run down properties that cost more over the winter holidays.

My friends and I stayed at Vive for 10 nights, we booked 3 rooms and they booked us close to each other. I only have good things to say about this hotel. The lobby is very cozy and always fragrant. Upon arrival,we were greeted with a glass of cold pineapple juice and fresh towels to cool off our hands, which is lovely ( I have to tell you that, my sister thought the towels was burrito wrap served with juice!). Yes, the room is small, but I was only there for shower and sleep, it didn’t bother me at all . All employees are extremely polite and pleasant, no exception. I really enjoyed the breakfast, love the fresh and sweet fruits this was a very important point for me! You can’t beat the location !! 3 minutes walk and you are facing the central point of Waikiki, breathtaking views, nothing beats this location! They also offer towels, chairs, beach umbrellas to take to the beach. 24 hours infusing fruit water and coffee at the lobby. Saturday , Live music on lobby with a snack basket. On my birthday, what a lovely surprise! They left some cookies and cards on my bed, love it!! Something that really impressed me and hadn’t seen in any hotel, was the hospitality room, it really made all the difference ,be able to enjoy the beach after check out and go back to the hotel and have a room to shower and finish packing was amazing,we left around 6:00pm happy that we could enjoy our last hours at the beach ! The air conditioner was really noisy, but I still give Vive 5 stars!!Thank you so much for having us , if one day I come back , I would love to stay at Vive again!

The vive hotel has a nice appearance downstairs with plenty of seating and nice decor.
Breakfast was good. Plenty of nice fresh fruit, bread for toast, hotdog bagels, coffee and juice everyday.
You can borrow beach towels and umbrellas at not extra cost.
We found the staff easy to approach and helpful when asked.
The room was average but had everything you need.
The issue we had was we slept so badly here. The noise from the AC was really loud, the wind hits the side of the building so it sounds like you are sleeping in a tent and in the morning you can hear the street noise. We found ourselves rereading the hotels reviews at 3am to find that many had faced a similar problem. For this reason we did not request a room change and just accepted we were only there for 3 nights. We were woken every morning to a beautiful view of a rainbow.
We let the staff know on the way out that we had trouble with the noise and they said they would get the maintenance to have a look. We would not expect anymore at this point and feel if we had mentioned it earlier we probably would have been offered a room change no problem because the staff were accommodating in all other aspects... We just couldn't be bothered with the hassle and expected another room may still be noisy.

Aloha TravelsKnB, Thank you for choosing Vive Hotel Waikiki. We are glad to know you enjoyed your time and the hotel staff. We apologize to hear that you had a concern that kept you from a good night sleep. The storm that had blown through our city is not one we have often. Being in a city, the wind when it blows like that makes noise on all of the building around causing great annoyance. We completely understand and wish we had control over this. As for the AC units, with our renovations this year, we have plans to move to a central Air Condition Unit. Once those changes are made we would love to welcome you back and share with you a true Vive Experience.

This hotel was excellent. Room was a bit small but totally worth the money. The vibe is great, it's clean, and the staff were very professional and kind. Roger mostly took care of us, and he was fantastic in every way. We were also able to store our bags and use a courtesy room after we checked out, so we could shower and freshen up before taking a long night flight home, which really accommodated our needs. The lounge was beautiful and fun to hang out (with 24-hr coffee and tea available), and they also have a cute shop featuring local artists' products. Totally recommended.

We’ve stayed at various hotels and resorts in Waikiki (for example Royal Hawaiian, Hilton Hawaiian, Hyatt Place) and even stayed at Aulani but this is our favorite now. You can’t beat the location which is less than a 5 minute walk to the beach, many great restaurants and shopping within walking distance like the International Market, Marugame Udon, etc, and right next to the hotel is a bus stop. This trip we didn’t have a car but there is parking available. Check in and checking out was easy, esp checking in online which sped up the process once we arrived. The staff was very professional and friendly. The hotel lobby always was clean. We booked directly through the hotel’s site and they offered all the amenities without paying a resort fee. The breakfast included with the resort fee isn’t fancy but a lot better than other places we’ve been to or at least included breakfast. With that in mind we didn’t have high expectations on the breakfast esp reading some reviews but we were pleasantly surprised. Breakfast is a light breakfast that was in a large to-go container that daily had fresh fruit (we saw delivery of pineapples and strawberries), a croissant, muffin/pastry and they offer hot protein items like hard boiled eggs and either bacon or sausage buffet style. The coffee was always hot (just the way I like it) and that with tea was always available in the lobby along with water from a filtered water dispenser. What really makes this place a favorite is that part of the amenities/resort fee is being able to borrow beach accessories like an umbrella, chairs, beach mats, boogie boards, and towels when we requested them before heading to the beach (looks like they had plenty available) and when we return it’s easy to return them by just leaving them in the designated bins near the hotel entrance. Other hotels/resorts we have stayed at didn’t offer them even with resort fees. We booked a cosmopolitan Queen room and it is a small room but we figure we would be on the beach and out and about most of the time so we didn’t need a lot of space. The bathroom is also small but it had a shower with a bathtub that also had a retractable clothesline. There is a mini frig in the room which helps with beverages and leftover food (microwave in the lobby). Other reviews complained about the bed but we found it comfortable. We requested a room on a high floor and away from the street and though our window was facing towards the bus stop and on the 16th floor there was little noise in the room, which my other half liked because he’s a light sleeper. One note is that the ceilings are a little low and light fixtures esp in the hallways to the rooms are low so those 6 feet or taller might find it an issue or need to duck. We would definitely return to Vive.

Dear Nomad26026795857, Thank you for choosing to stay with us for your recent travels. Much mahalos for taking the time in writing a very detailed stay. Our location being situated next to public transit, shops, restaurants, and the beach really makes us ideal. Glad to see you booked direct so that we could waive the resort/amenity fee for you. As Covid restrictions get lifted, we hope to revert back to our original breakfast buffet fashion. Our standard queen rooms are quite cozy but do come with great value. In the future if you are interested, we also do have larger suites with king beds. It seems you enjoyed your trip to Oahu very much and ultimately we hope you were able to create new long lasting memories. From all of us here at Vive, thank you very much and take care. -Vive Management

I'm so glad we found this hotel to stay in during our Honolulu trip. The location is excellent, Kuhio beach is a block away, and lots of food and shopping nearby, with a bus stop right outside. Would definitely stay here again, this hotel appears to have a commitment to cleanliness and eco-friendly practices, and every staff member we interacted with was very kind, helpful, and friendly!
The rooms are very very small, but efficient, with creative storage solutions (drawers under bed, 3 shelf nightstands) that still allow you to have a place for everything. The bathroom is clean and I like that the toiletries are the large dispensers instead of single use plastic bottles, much more eco-friendly. The shampoo/conditioner/body wash dispensers are a bit hard to use however, they require some force to squeeze the product out, the pump dispensers would be a little easier. Suggestions for the room would be to add more wall hooks and shelves for storage in the room and bathroom, and more ventilation in the bathroom (there is a clothesline in the shower/tub, but since there's not good airflow in the bathroom, things didn't always dry overnight). There are window AC units and just a note to the light sleepers, we were on the 21st floor but still got a lot of noise from the street (sirens, roosters, alarms).
The amenities and service can't be beat! We were able to check out beach chairs, mats, towels, umbrellas, and boogie boards, and they were good quality items. The umbrella is a life saver on the beaches, and everything is very lightweight and easy to carry. The free breakfast was also amazing, loved the fresh fruit, juice, croissant, and pastry every morning, and they alternated between hard boiled eggs/bacon and omelets/sausage. There is a water dispenser on the first and 2nd floor, so bring reusable water bottles. There is also a microwave for guest use on the 1st floor, with mini fridges in each room. There are only 2 elevators, but it wasn't really a problem during our stay. The first floor has a dining area, which was perfect for spending time with our friends since our room was small.
We did use the valet parking service for a few days, and the valet staff had the best customer service I've experienced! Each staff member was amazingly friendly and helpful, and valet service was prompt and very convenient. You can get the beach gear right at the valet on the 2nd floor.
Try the Musubi Cafe across the street, it was my favorite during our trip, great to pickup for lunch on the go. Also enjoyed Tane Izakaya (vegan sushi), Onaya Ramen, and Sikdorak Korean BBQ. Ala Moana shopping center is 2.5 miles away (walkable for us), and the Foodland there has lots of great food options as well.

On first impression I was a bit taken back by the very tight turn small parking garage, and the very small room. But this hotel is a gem! We can’t say enough about the staff! They go above and beyond, were super accommodating and friendly. Great housekeeping staff, parking attendants, front desk staff! A special shout out to Anthony and Arnel who were super helpful with our heavy luggage and multiple trips in and out of the garage, and Alex who made up our room daily with great care. We didn’t catch everyone’s names including the staff who never seem to leave the front desk! But our sincerest thank you to all the staff at Vive! The artwork on the floors are custom painted to match the walls, the lobby seating area is spacious with very inviting with comfortable seating. The room itself has everything you need, small flat screen TV, nice comfortable bed, place to hang clothes, instant hot water in the shower, small fridge, chair, desk, small shelving night stands for your things. The rooms are very small, but we made it work and I like being able to get to everything easily and quickly. There are no balconies or window to open in the rooms, but you do have a view, and each floor has an open balcony you can access. We brought a fan to help cool off the room and drown out traffic noise which can be an issue if outside noise from street-facing rooms bother you. They offer free buffet-style breakfast, free beach items, and for thier pricing, you can’t beat thier location to beach, surrounding resorts, the zoo, and many great restaurants and local food shops. Valet parking on site, several filtered cold water dispensers, coffee, tea, and ice available 24/7 in small kitchen area with microwave and seating. This is a smaller hotel that offers a lot for its size, but the convenience is priceless! Mahalo Vive staff!

We stayed for a little less than a week and it was the perfect hotel for our use. The room was small, and the windows could be a bit more insulting BUT you can't beat the location (2 blocks away from the beach, and restaurants literally 1-2 minutes walking distance from the hotel) and the service was significantly better than expected. The valet parking was clutch, we had to wait a maximum of 3 minutes to get our car, average was 1 minute. The fact that you can check out towels, umbrella etc (and there was no shortage of them!!) was unbelievably helpful. Lastly, the prepackaged breakfast was something I didn't foresee I'd like so much. Everyday is the same breakfast, so some variety could be nice for longer stays, but it works. I'd warmly recommend this hotel if you're the adventurous type only looking to sleep and shower there. Then again, you're in Hawaii, you should probably spend your day at the beach or hiking, not in a room (bed was comfortable though)...

Aloha, Yes, the valet parking is complimentary daily. However, please make sure that the military/government promotion is selected. If any other promotion aside from this is selected, valet parking will be $40.
Upon check in, this type of ID will be asked for to verify, whatever department it may be: DoD, army, navy, etc.
An exceptional value as valet costs are expensive in the entire Waikiki area. Thank you.

Aloha,
While the Living Room area is open for vaccinated guests to eat breakfast, at this time (12/1) because of the local mandates breakfast is still in take out containers.
We are hoping in the coming weeks that we can start to revert back to buffet style but many of this will depend on tourism in the weeks to come.
Thank you.

Aloha,
Thank you for making a reservation with us.
Assuming you made the reservation on our own website, we process the first nights room and tax as a deposit. This deposit is applied to your bill.
We need this deposit to secure your reservation due to the cancellation policy. In the event of a late cancellation, the one night deposit is forfeited. If its cancelled outside the policy, the deposit is refunded in full. The hotel needs to have some sort of recourse to take in the event of a late cancel as we are holding the room.
Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thank you so much and take care!
