The Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa boasts a prime location beloved by travelers for its proximity to the beach and local amenities. Despite earning praise for its service and cleanliness, some guests have called out the hotel for its high costs and the need for a refresh in both decor and maintenance. While the stunning views are a highlight, noise levels and dated rooms have detracted from the overall experience. Nonetheless, the live music and friendly staff continue to make it a popular choice for many.

I can’t recommend this hotel enough. The staff were all attentive. The view of the ocean from our room was gorgeous. It was nice being right in the beach. Amazing shops right downstairs. Valet was efficient. The location was close to so many shops and restaurants. They even provided reusable water bottles and have ice/filtered water stations throughout the hotel so we didn’t even need to make our usual Costco run for water. Not enough good things to say about this place. I can’t wait to come back with my family. We used to stay at Hilton Hawaiian Village every time we came to Oahu but decided to try out Hyatt and I am so glad we did! Pics of the view we had.

Hotel's Favorite
We had booked this through Costco Travel. After years of pandemic isolation, we needed this getaway. The bell desk checked our luggage even though we were four hours early. We explored the immediate surrounding area during that time. The location is unbelievable. The first impression from the lobby balcony does NOT do it justice. The check-in line had several impatient guests in front of us, but we are on vacation so just chilled while others complained vehemently. We are right across the street from the beach and the ocean. After receiving our keys, we headed up to the 32nd floor of the Diamond Head Tower for the ocean view. The floor to ceiling balcony door opened up to the Pacific Ocean, along with the sights and sounds of Waikiki. Each day we went down to the pool area to check out chairs and towels for the short trek across the street. The convenience cannot be overstated. While others schlep their coolers, chairs, towels and toys across blocks of busy Waikiki traffic to get to "our beach," we just wait for the elevator and crosswalk sign before floating in the water. Note to everyone. The blue umbrellas and chairs on the beach are NOT a part of this hotel. They are available from the tents on the beach for $30/2 hours; $50/4 hours; $60/all day. You can find other vendors away from the beach for cheaper options. We discovered there is a small, but thriving, farmer's market Mondays and Wednesdays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Fresh cut fruits, vegetables, crafts, jewelry, snacks are all available. Having three ABC stores within this property is very convenient. We didn't realize the third store in the back of the Ewa Tower until the end of our trip.

We arrived in the middle of the night last night and just finished our first day at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki. This is our 2nd time in 2 years coming to this hotel and we have already had such a wonderful time. Our rooms were upgraded to ocean front - beautiful - and it seems like many rooms/spaces have been upgraded/updated. But the real reason I am writing a review is because of Marc. He is a server/host in the Club lounge. From the minute I asked if there was gluten in the salad dressing, he has gone above and beyond to serve me and my family. Even when I returned tonight for dessert with my family, he brought me a bowl of ice cream since the other options weren’t celiac friendly. He is truly great at his job - Thank you Marc.

The one star review is for horrible customer service nightmare we received at Hyatt Regency Waikiki since I can give negative stasr. The breakfast opens 6am-11am. When my family of 6 arrived at 9am with extremely busy elevator, one guy Bryan stopped us saying we can’t get in due to they have to clean up. I asked why no advanced notification he couldn’t give clear explanation other than rushing us out. Then I asked what option we have since we have $200 credit to use today. He said I don’t know you can use in the pool. He said you can take some takeout boxes. But EVERYONE ELSE are getting food and eating. We accepted and sat down to eat. Guess what? He came and kicked us out! Right in front of my parents over 70 and my kids! While everyone else are still there eating! I asked his name but he didn’t give to me other than just shook his shirt “right here you can see!” “I don’t know what you talking about!” Wow that’s beyond rude in my whole life no matter in what price range of hotel. We chose Hyatt based on the reputation of excellent customer service. And that’s the first and probably last impression we even get for Hyatt! All I’m asking is to handle things professionally, respectfully reasonably. No advanced notification of early closure, no clear explanation and no good countermeasure or containment plan, only rude attitude and discrimination by treating people differently. Putting this guy in the position with customers already did and will do more damages to the Hyatt brand name. I hope my review will alert the Hyatt management and customers to avoid same experience as me and my family.

The location was great, across the street from the beach. Hotel also provided beach towels and beach chairs which was nice. We stayed on the 20th floor of the Ewa tower. Our room was dated and the curtains had bleach and blood stains on them. Other than that, the room was fine. Very spacious which was nice for our family of 4. For the price, it is a decent stay.

I booked an ocean view high floor king room for our wedding anniversary. I booked 5 months in advance to ensure a good room. The room on the 31st floor only had a partial ocean view from the balcony, with the main view of other high rise buildings, which was disappointing. I was surprised at how noisy it was on the 31st floor, mainly traffic noise especially during the night, every night of our 9 night stay when motorbikes and cars would drag race up the main road along the beachfront. The sliding glass doors are not double glazed or fitted with acoustic glass. Also a lot of noise from people in the neighbouring room which we could hear through the connecting door. The room was spacious and housekeeping did a great job making up the room each day. However, for the price we paid I was disappointed that there weren’t cups/mugs or teaspoons in the room to make a decent cup of coffee. There were paper cups with plastic lids and 2 sachets of coffee supplied each day. This hotel fell far short of our expectations.

I’ve stayed here before, but this time the paint on the doors was peeling, the desk was splintered and sticking up and the window was loose -no weatherstripping. NO hot water in the showers at the spa. Disappointing!

Great location! Quiet rooms, comfortable beds, and beautiful views! Great beach chairs and easy retrievability to head to the beach for the day! Close water access along with amenities included and accessible. We loved staying here. It's an older hotel, but very clean with great service! Super friendly staff.

My wife and I stayed here for 7 nights for our Honeymoon. We were very well taken care of from Checking in all the way to check out. The Valet and Bell Hop were so nice and helpful each day we were there. The location is very convenient. Across the street from the beach and just blocks away from many stores and restaurants. I know some people complained about the night time noise but it didn't bother us one bit. Especially staying there during Spring Break, the noise wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. And the Oceanfront view that we were given was so beautiful. Having breakfast and Sunset drinks on our Patio were one of the highlights of our trip.

Great location right in front of the beach. Great customer service; pool and spa were easily accessible; tons of shopping at the hotel itself. Great for couples, families, young and old. Resort fee gives you a credit at the hotel to use for their buffet/pool restaurant.
