The Surfjack is a great, centrally located hotel that offers comfort away from home. From the very first encounter with the hotel's staff we were charmed; the rooms were well appointed (glycerin soap!), and we can't say enough about the pool. We were able to borrow chairs for the beach, which is a nice bonus. In the mornings there was coffee available by the pool.

Hotel's Favorite
Great rooms with lots of space after long active days. Live music by the pool is terrific every evening. The restaurant has the best food in the area. Breakfasts are super high quality, healthy options and tasty. Family style fish dinner at Mahina and Son's restaurant is a must. The staff are super helpful with planning your daily activities. Amenities are really terrific including the shampoo and conditioner provided, sunscreen at the pool, parking, beach towels and chairs. The coffee shop lattes are wonderful to wake up for.

Clean, friendly, organized. Very clean, location is great, close to the restaurants and shops. They offer a warm coffee in the morning for free. Super cool. Pool is clean and great. Elevators, doors, shower, everything work well. Great choice.

We stayed here while dropping our freshman daughter off at UH. This was the perfect place for our family. The staff was so helpful for all our needs. We will stay here again on our next visit. Also, the bar/restaurant was perfect and the food was delicious.

10/10 would recommend. Staff was really nice and we felt at home. The design of the rooms and the hotel is beautiful. Defined would go there again. We loved the music in the evening and there were a lot of cute dogs and free coffee.

Love this place. Stayed in Penthouse and it was awesome. Have to walk up one flight of stairs but well worth it. Bar and restaurant are great. Live music every night. Location was perfect. Chris and Jon at the front desk are the best very helpful. Great cappuccino in the lobby as well. Free parking is huge as well

Feels like home! Can’t stay anywhere else now. Incredibly friendly staff ( they remembered me between trips and welcomed me back) Great coffee at the shop downstairs and Shepherd at the front desk managed to get me into my favorite room upon a last minute check in and made my trip!

Will be heading to this hotel in a week. Needed to help with the booking so I called in. The call was picked up right away (which I honestly didn’t expect) and the staff, John Butac, spoke to him. I told him what I needed and he completed it within 5 minutes of the call. No hassle. John was friendly, professional, and efficient! Really looking forward to my visit now because of his great service! I hope Surfjack sees this and give John a shout out/reward!

Excellent show at St. Jacobs Country Playhouse. The ladies were a delight. Full of laughs and a great story of 5 friends that spend a week together at a cottage every year. Would definitely recommend to my friends. Don't miss this show. .

The hotel in general seemed ok, but the rating is based on our experience. PROS: The later check out time is great for afternoon flights. Had a reservation for a one room bungalow, but when we checked in they did not have any rooms available? We were upgraded to the one room bungalow penthouse. Most people wouldn't complain at that. But let's talk about the "comforts of the luxe-life" as their room description states. Penthouses are on the 10th floor --- elevators go to 9 and then you have to walk around the corner and go up 2 flights of stairs. Not the end of the world but inconvenient with luggage. We wanted to enjoy sitting out on the balcony -- until the cockroaches came up through the boards and started running around. I get it, it's an urban downtown city and you can get that anywhere, but it's off-putting to sit there with cockroaches running around. Did not see any inside, so that's a plus. I suppose most people in penthouses are out partying all night, but we like to chill before bed and watch some tv. Well, can't lay in bed and watch tv in the penthouse. The TV is facing a sofa mostly out of view of the bed. This is a personal preference but we like the area cooler at night to sleep, put the AC on as low it goes and it did not cool off enough to our liking. Put the ceiling fan on over the bed and it rattles just enough on high to be annoying. Dealt with the extra noise but tighten down those screws or something, please. Then to top off the cake of the luxury life style... the toilet is about 3" from the wall. Go ahead and put an immovable object 3" from your toilet and see how that works out. Very bad design there, but at least you can fit three people and a dog in the shower. We only stayed for 2 nights for a break between flights and maybe that's why they overbooked the rooms and upgraded us, but it felt more like a downgrade. If we had actually booked that room and paid regular rate for it I would have been absolutely ticked off. If you book this hotel and are offered a penthouse upgrade, I'd strongly consider forcing a refund for not honoring the reservation and finding another hotel.
