We loved our stay at the Hale Koa. I recommend paying for the ocean view. It's in a great location to walk to shopping and restaurants. The beach view and location is impeccable.having the Exchange to buy gifts and things was also helpful.
Go left from the beach access toward the Outrigger Reef and you will find a small kiosk called the Steak Shack. $9 will get you a steak dinner that is enough for two people. Perfectly cooked steak, rice and small salad.

When we were there in February 2017, they had not started on the family pool, though they had signage up about it. I was there twice in 13 months, and if you haven't been there, I can assure you that you'll like the place. It is not a second-rate property.
