The hotel is set back one block from Waikiki beach and is accessible to all of the restaurants, shopping, beach and transport. Staff offer a warm welcome and offered me a 4th floor quiet room as I had requested, which I appreciated.
There’s a $150US deposit payable on arrival which I have been informed will be refunded within 7 days after I check out. There’s limited parking at $30 a day which isn’t bad for the location.
The room was surprisingly large with a kitchen area with a microwave, fridge and an ancient looking stove.
The bed was enormous and comfortable but the pillows were rock hard and need replacing.
The ensuite has a small bath and shower over and the whole room was clean but extremely dated. The TV has a number of American and Japanese channels and the picture is clear with an air con unit that worked well.
The downside is that the walls are paper thin. I was woken up by alarm clocks and general chat from my neighbours. The reason I’ve given 3 and not 4 stars is that there’s a lot of tiny ants crawling everywhere, especially around the sink area and the tv cabinet. I had one or two crawl in me in bed, which wasn’t nice! If they can sort this out, things would be much better.
There’s a washing machine and dryer at the end of the corridor costing $1.75 for a wash which for Honolulu is fabulous value. There’s no dispenser for washing powder or softener which is an easy fix.
Overall, it’s a great budget hotel and the staff are lovely and the rooms are large and spacious. I’d stay again when they’ve updated it.

The hotel was decent And it’s definitely a “stayable” hotel, but it is an older hotel the lobby looks renovated but, you can really tell it’s old once u enter the elevator hallways and rooms. The amenities, carpet and kitchenette are old. The hotel is overpriced in my opinion but I guess because of its prime location they feel like they can charge resort prices & there is no pool. They ask for a $200 deposit Which I thought was excessive for the quality. The staff was the best thing about the hotel really friendly and super helpful. I checked into my room easily. Only had one hiccup after settling into the room I went to shower and open the curtain and the shower was leaking and the tub was clogged and full of water & backup debris after calling the front desk they moved me to a new room. I will mention that I got a kamaaina (hawaii resident) deal so it costed less for me and I didn’t have to pay amenities fee and that was great this and the staff is the reason for the 3rd star otherwise I’d give it 2 stars.

You get what you pay for. The room was spacious and had what was described. The location was great, only about a 5 minute walk to the beach with restaurants, shops, bus stops, and more close by. The staff was friendly and held our bags for us when we arrived early.
Now for the less than good thing. There was no fan in the bathroom to turn on while showering so the bathroom really steamed up. We also noticed water stains on the lamp shades and with the humid environment of Hawaii, all of this made us a bit concerned that there could be mold in the room.
The other small complaint we had was that the beach towels the hotel provided were very small (think small shower towel) and were not ideal for laying on at the beach. This isn’t a big issue, just a slight inconvenience.

The Ewa Hotel is located very close to the Honolulu Zoo and only two blocks from the beach making it a perfect location. The problem is that the hotel is a dump. Everything in the hotel needs a facelift, and quick. The drapes are old and have mold on the liner. There was mold (or some other black stuff) on the ceiling above the curtains and also where the ceiling meets the wall.
In the kitchenette suites is a stove/sink combo unit that I find hard to believe is legal. The items available for the kitchenette are sparse. The room was supposed to be for 4 people but only enough cutlery for two. We wanted to have a glass of wine one evening and there were no wine glasses. I called down to the front desk and was told that hotel eliminated most glassware from suites. Don't they know that there are some nice plastic wine glasses available if there is a no-glass policy in the hotel?
The soap, shampoo and conditioner were lovely. The mirror in the bathroom was so old that the reflective cover was coming off so there were a number of spots that were grey and no longer a mirror. The plug in the bathroom was just a regular plug and not a GFI. Again, is this even still legal?
There were a couple of positives. The staff were extremely friendly and they took pride in service. The rooms, in spite of being rustic, were as clean as the staff could make they.
The windows were very old and allowed for all sorts of street noises to be heard at all hours of the night so getting a good night's sleep was a huge issue.
There is no pool at this hotel.
This hotel needs to be gutted and redeveloped to be brought up to date.

Sad, tired and outdated hotel in Waikiki close to the zoo. Common areas, hallway and lobby reeked of anti-fungal industrial cleaner. Dated, sad rooms- and the photos on line were "generous" and were from a nicer room then I was in. + Aircon worked and the room had 2 burner hotplate over the refrigerator. Price was a little lower than other hotels in the area, but the quality of my room/experience was not worth the value sadly. Staff was nice, but I won't be staying here again.

For the price you can't get a better location and it was at least $50 cheaper than the next cheapest hotel in the area that you can book online. Be advised that many of the rooms have no balconies, which is uncommon in waikiki. Staff was very kind when you could find them. Some of the cheapest hotel parking in waikiki. Pretty rough around the edges, but similar to similarly priced hotels in the area to be fair.

I booked Ewa since it was one of the cheapest options that still had a kitchen and a balcony and that was a mistake. The kitchen was unusable, the burners did not get hot on the stove, there was no spatula, the burners were tilted, and there's no room to do anything. I would have been better off with just a microwave and mini fridge, which comes in most hotel rooms anyways. The balcony was okay but incredibly loud and windy and it's looking directly into other people's rooms across the alley. Neither the tv remote nor the remote for the AC worked at all. There was also a surprising lack of outlets, which made charging difficult and inconvenient.
There was also an unexpected $15 a day "resort" fee as well as $30 a day parking. Not sure what the resort fee goes to since there are literally zero amenities. The hotel itself felt incredibly dirty and the elevator smelled so strongly of urine it was almost unbearable. On my last day here they were doing construction on my floor (there was no warning) at 8 am. The rooftop would have been nice had the area been better maintained. The only benefit of this hotel was the location, but honestly I'd recommend something that is just a bit deeper into the town since this is on the edge of everything.

Service is good. Parking is ok, however daily charge of $30 is quite pricey.
Hotel rooms appear to be old, need to upgrade kitchen appliances, bathrooms need vent and new amenities. Hotel room door looks old. Curtain inside hotel rooms are dirty with stains.
Bed is comfortable. AC works well, not too noisy.

The location is superb, near the Honolulu Zoo, quiet, and walking distance to Waikiki. Budget hotel, you got what you paid for, nothing fancy, small room, basic amenity. All the hotels in Hawaii charge resort fees which should be built into the hotel daily rate which gives you the wi-fi (we have our own data(, coffee packs (never used), and a microwave in the room (never used once). Are these amenities worth the $18 extra daily charge?
Having said that, it is still one of the lowest priced hotels in the area. We stayed from Apr 26 - 30, 2022, the hotel is very basic, but serves the purpose. Neighborhood is quiet safe.

No hairdryer in the room, don’t know if hotel can provide one if you request.
Covered by daily resort fee
There was a double bed in each room
You would have to ask the hotel. I don't work there, just stay 1 night.
