The hotel itself was fantastic, INCREDIBLY friendly and helpful staff. But the second I stepped off the escalator to leave the hotel I was approached multiple times by homeless people. And it also reeked of urine. It’s just a bummer, for them, and everyone else. (Although one of them seemed to be having a good time)
The Aston At The Executive Centre is a great hotel. Good location, very clean and extremely friendly staff. Very attentive to our needs. Transportation was easy to access. Close to shopping and restaurants. Exceeded our expectations. We'll be back.
This is a bit of strange review as I lived in the building from 1988 to 1996. Back then, it was a mixed-use apartment/office complex. Now, it the units are owned by individuals with office and hotel use. I'm not sure how the hotel part works because on the same floor as the hotel room you will also find residents, which makes for a different and unique experience. Let's get this out of the way, the Exec Center Hotel DOES NOT have "Resort Fees" AND is located outside of Waikiki - all major wins in my mind. Self parking is $26/night. Over the course of three nights, I ended up in two separate rooms. The first was a studio setup that is a bit more spacious than the average hotel room. The second was a mirror of my old one bedroom apartment (which I really enjoyed). But I'm guessing the owners of the individual units sublet to the hotel because there was no unifying decor to either room. Personally speaking, I think the property is perfectly located (which is why I used to live there) to just about everything on the island. The staff was very friendly and helpful with everything - getting parking sorted and having the decomposing body removed... Like I said, it's a mixed use building and my first room was 3804. When I arrived, the door to 3802 was propped open with a large can. The lights were on and you could see that the resident was a bit of hoarder. No big deal, but there was a bit of an odd smell present. My room was nice with carpeted floors, comfortable furniture, nice bed and floor to ceiling windows, as well as a kitchenette. Perfect. The smell did not penetrate into the room. The next day, however, the smell in the hallway had grown foul. Extremely foul. I can't believe no other resident on the floor (especially the person in 3803) didn't notice or report it. I had never smelled the smell of dead human but this had to be it - especially since when I peeked into the room, nothing had been stirring. Reported it to the front desk and they took care of it. It is a very unique and distinct aroma. Surprisingly, the smell never penetrated my room. I heard a flurry of activity and when I asked security what happened, their claims of privacy only confirmed my thought that the resident had died several days earlier. Afterall, if it had just been some rotting food, they would have been more candid about it. But they handled it all with discretion and is to their credit. Later, the manager Darren called me on my mobile to insist that I move to a different floor. With one night remaining, I wasn't in the mood to move all my stuff but he was insistent and I appreciated that. That's when they moved me to 3703, which was a mirror of my old apartment: 2002, which I quite enjoyed. I think it's a great place to stay - especially since it's convenient to everywhere I want to go in Honolulu and far away from the touristy Waikiki. Front desk staff is very nice, the ladies in the parking garage are very nice as well. It's definitely a different place to stay in Honolulu, but I do recommend it.…
Nice location with easy access to downtown and nice restaurants. Rooms vary according to the owner's tastes (or lack of). I would have appreciated better lighting in the room with a more updated decor. Room 3109 could have been updated. There are nicer rooms that I have stayed in previously. The staff ALWAYS go out of their way to make my stay comfortable. Thank you.
Great location well outside of waikiki. Everything was very clean everywhere you went in the hotel. The employees are super nice and friendly. Lots of Aloha here at this hotel. Security here was awesome. No problems with homeless whatsoever, infact we barely saw any. We walked to the church jus in the next block over. No problems regarding this trip.
We had a great stay on 2 occassions early last month stayed in a, suite both times, well appointed and friendly staff. Food in the restaurant was excellent and prices very reasonable good parking facilities
This is very old hotel, they still have carpets and does not look clean. We opened the sofa bead, and the matress was dirty and soiled. The interner is slow, almost like dial up. There are many homeless all arou d, like any downtown, I guess. There is no gym. The staff is nice and ready to acomadate your needs. For some resaon, they don't clean your room everyday.
Would stay there again. Clean rooms , could use newer pots and pans., more silverware. Staff friendly and accommodating. Down town area appears run down, especially noted at night. Would not recommend for most people traveling as a single. Good proximity to Wal Mart for food shopping. Several restaurants were closed at night and on the weekends which made options for eating out challenging..
Location is terrific for downtown events. Ocean view is nice. Rooms are big. Some rooms have stovetop, others just microwave. Unfortunately, a lot of homeless gather in the surrounding area. Might be sketchy wondering around at night.
First room smelled. Moved to lower level room. Better. Rooms were dated and felt grungy. Rooms should be refurbished. New carpets, fixtures, paint. The whole works. Location is a little sketchy especially after dark.
