We have stayed here a number of times over the years and keep going back to this little gem for the extraordinary hospitality. The rooms are beautiful and consistently clean, quiet and comfortable. Location is ideal too, blocks from the waterfront.. Also, you have not lived until you've had Michael's signature breakfast. Delicious every time! Look forward to our next... More

My husband and I have stayed at the Samuel Durfee House several times now and have recommended it to friends and family. We stayed at the Samuel Durfee House for three nights of our New England driving vacation. Michael and Heather (the hosts) have executed a wonderful restoration of this historic Federal period home. They are delightful hosts and provide very comfortable rooms (great bed!). The breakfasts were delicious and artistically presented by Michael. Heather makes the dining room inviting and a... More

One street up from downtown restaurants and shopping, this lovely federal period inn put us in the mindset of New England history and visits to the fabled mansions of Newport. Out host and hostess met every need and exceeded all expectations with delicious breakfasts and afternoon coffee, tea and sweets service. The Durfee House is a rare find.

Heather and Michael were so friendly and informative about the area! It's located close to the waterfront, and was easy to get to a lot of places in Newport. Heather recommended us to go to Benjamin's for seafood and it was soooooo amazing! The breakfast served at the B&B was fabulous - we had frittata for the first day and... More

Stayed for a weekend in November 2015. We had the front room on the right at the top of the stairs. The room, bed and bathroom were very nice. Free off street parking and in room WI-fi. The hostess was very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The breakfast was excellent both mornings. It was also nice to interact with the other... More

We have just returned home from our wonderful stay. The inn keepers were fabulous. Michael and Heather were super informative about things to do in Newport, along with restaurants and great events. Delicious breakfast every morning and the hotel was in an excellent location. Would definitely return.

Located a block off Thames, the Durfee House is within easy walking distance to the waterfront, which is where we went after checking in. Innkeepers Heather and Mike make you feel like family, and know the area as only people who have history there can. We stayed in the second floor Perry room and loved the Victorian decor and the...
