The Newport Marriott is a beautiful hotel conveniently located within walking distance of numerous restaurants, bars, shops, wharf, ferry stop and many outdoor activities. When we arrived, check-in was quick and easy. The staff was very professional and welcoming. Our room was clean and spacious and the bathroom was spotless. The gym had a vast selection of equipment and the indoor pool was a great place to unwind at the end of the day. Amidst Covid, the hotel is immaculately clean. Hand sanitizing stations were easily available and signs for social distancing and mask requirement were posted in public areas. We felt safe throughout our 3-night stay.

We had an amazing time at the beautiful Newport Marriott in early August. I submitted this review 3 other times, hoping it’ll end up with my traveling friends here, reading it! We enjoyed a two night stay, in this great location. We faced out toward downtown, which was nice as it was private. We had the top floor and the room had a fabulous slanted ceiling which was very cool! The room was super clean, well appointed, and very spacious. I loved the crisp white sheets and comforter, as you know it’s clean when it’s white that doesn’t hide a THING! Our king sized bed was super comfy, and the air conditioner was very effective and well placed so you could feel it, which I like. The TV was HUGE and mounted high on the wall so I could really enjoy my shows before bed, which was great and made it easy to watch. The bathroom was nice, but the one thing I’ll say was that the shower was beyond weak, and a drizzle. Also I don’t like clear glass stalls, they always leak and you need to put towels outside the glass door, but the dribble pressure was not hard to contain. Even though the low flow has been deregulated, no one is rushing to restore pressure since they were all forced into low flow in the early 1990s, and they’re not going to change back to the great old shower heads. I’ve given up on hotel water pressure! There were 3 dispensers with shampoo, conditioner and liquid body wash. I hated the eucalyptus smell, ugh. The conditioner was empty on arrival and never filled. I bring my own, but it should be filled if the dispenser is there? Towels were never a problem to get, but they don’t come in to clean at all and won’t make the beds unless you ask, due to the virus. Like all else, this makes little sense. The room safe was in a closet by the bathroom, but it was so high up I could not see what I had in there and it’s good to have a tall husband! Why the safe was up high in the closet was baffling, impractical and inconvenient. The property is beautiful here. One drawback for me is that there are a lot of steps, and not a lot of ramps near them. With my bad ankles, I was asking where are the ramps, as the stairs were setting my ankles back, and I needed those to go exploring! But regardless, it’s really an amazing hotel with a gorgeous atrium where some of the rooms have an indoor balcony. It was nice too, but I liked our privacy better. I loved the hanging swinging chairs around a fountain in the lobby. Elevators super modern and are glass so you can look out of them at the atrium as you come and go! Amazing! We decided to try the indoor pool. This is the spot that needs A LOT of help. The pool is ok, it wasn’t heated enough despite that I felt hot water coming in, yet it was still a bit chilly. There are chairs, tables, plenty of towels, but atmosphere is not only lacking, it’s HIDEOUS! I felt like I was at a pool inside an industrial laundry as there were giant duct tubes snaking around the ceiling, and it did appear that the laundry was behind a window raised up where you could see people walking around, maybe the laundry staff? The walls are an industrial or hospital pale blue. Really not inspiring. There was no water in the hot tub due to the usual these days, but the pool was filled, so that part made no sense since it would be hot chlorinated water which would kill anything!. We took a short dip then went out on the adjoining rooftop sun deck right out the door. We had the place to ourselves then more people came. We ate twice in the hotel. Once, for a delicious breakfast, amazing cheese omelette, chocolate chip pancakes, and crisp bacon! We decided it was so great for breakfast we would try another meal. So, then we ate again at the Skiff bar and restaurant. It’s really all one place with different sections, and all right across from the harbor, so you can see it anywhere you sit. We sat indoors both times but there’s a nice patio too and it’s all right over the harbor. View was amazing! Food was delicious! The best New England clam chowder I’ve had ANYWHERE! Service was wonderful and Jared was fantastic. Even with a few things we didn’t like, it was minor. I still give it 5 stars. Overall this was a great experience. So, if you’re planning to visit Newport, we highly recommend the Newport Marriot!

So, to start, the world is crazy right now cause of Covid-19. I get it So, i randomly went to Newport on Labor weekend with no reservations. And I got a room using the gold level res number. (charging nearly double the normal rate for this hotel on a weekend, really?). But the room was nice enough with an inside balcony, super comfy bed. The bar , the Skiff was not great, blah oysters and a weak cocktail. But the breakfasts were tremendous. As stated, i went reservation less and both morning they squeezed me in, super thankful. So good, the breakfasts were limited in choice but incredible in taste But what made my stay was Meridith the concierge. She helped me navigate Newport and got my dinner reservations, she was so nice and genuine. I felt very safe, masks required everywhere, clean. Sadly i requested toiletries and they never came. I enjoyed the place so much i extended my stay but then had to cancel cause the place was becoming a college dorm for freshman. REALLY? A upscale hotel didn't feel it required to tell me this when i was extending my stay? But hey, they were also SUPER nice, candled it, no charge even though i checked out late.

Everything about this Hotel was great. Less than 0.5 mile from all the shopping and restaurants, a pleasant walk. Service was outstanding. Recommend having breakfast at the Hotel, the restaurant has a beautiful view. The only negative I would say is parking. While I am ok with paying for parking I noticed that locals and non guests use the same parking space when they're not even staying at the Hotel, that is because the parking is wide open to everyone. So in essence they charge guests to park their car but everyone else seems to park there for free.
