I booked the room with two queen beds earlier but when I arrived on 5pm on Saturday, I was first told my room was not “ready” for me by the front desk and asked to wait. However, after a while, the manager (he claimed to be) Jason told me there was no room for me and I had to stay at the Brenton Hotel. We thought the room should be of equivalent quality so we then walked there but were told the room they could offer was less expensive than the room I paid previously, which was also further away from my parked car. So we went back and told Jason that we insisted to stay with Marriott. Surprisingly, Jason said fine immediately and gave me a room key 717 (which made me confused and angry about him asking to go to the other hotel at first instead of finding a room). However, when I opened the door, I found the room was occupied by other guests. They were shocked so I had to explain what just happened and went back to the lobby AGAIN. This experience was extremely unpleasant and annoying. I feel really disappointed with the service at Marriott this time especially the staff Jason. First, it’s unacceptable to ask guests who booked the room previously to go to another inequivalent-quality hotel when rooms were available. Second, Jason was being totally unprofessional and rude, wasted my time (2 hours to check in finally), made me apologize to other guests for the mistake he caused and damaged my trust in Marriott. So far it has been a while after I filed a complaint and called the director of the building, I haven't heard anything back from anybody to give me proper apology and explanation. Not recommend this hotel at all!!!

Hotel's Favorite
Amazing views, super friendly and helpful staff, spacious, clean and comfortable room. Every interaction we had was excellent. Debbie at the front desk was a delight. Hunter at the bell stand was fast, and so personable. Our housekeeper was very accommodating and worked around our coming and goings. The gentleman at the cafe in the morning was so nice and when he had a moment without a line, came over to chat with us to see what we had planned for the day. And MEREDITH - what a gem. She gave us some great advice when it came to the mansions (go to Belcourt Castle!) and the best way to do a short version of the cliff walk because we didn't have sneakers and it was 95 degrees). She also helped find a restaurant with lobster benedict, my fave! She was so so fab. The hotel is bright and airy and we just had such a wonderful time. This was my second stay and certainly won't be my last!

A very nice Marriott with an excellent location since all the fun in Newport is walkable. Renovated rooms are bright with a nautical theme. Bathroom is new, bight and has a great shower. Bar, restaurant and M Club are good and what you'd expect at a Marriott. Public parking is right next door and EV charging stations are there too. Other reviews are right about the rooms that face into the lobby atrium--be sure and get a room that looks outside.

We stayed here for 4 nights over the long weekend. We checked in at 2 AM in the morning. I had already checked in through the app - so it was a breeze. we used Valet parking - which i believe is $40 a night....Parking is expensive all over Newport. The valet service is extremely quick - never had to wait for more than 5 minutes. We were on the 6th floor - room 670. Fantastic view of the water / harbor. It was an absolute pleasure waking up to the view every morning or just relaxing in bed looking at the view. The hotel is at a great location - all the restaurants, shopping, tourist attractions are walk-able and within a mile. We didn't even need to use the car on most of the days. Elevators are quick. They have an absolutely amazing gym. I didn't use it but walked through it and was really impressed. They also have a heated indoor salt water pool which we had fun in and the kids loved. They also have a sauna which I used and is refreshing. Clean lockers and lots of towels available. Plenty of food choices with the bar / grill. breakfast restaurant and a coffee bar. Couple of areas to improve upon - housekeeping is average - didn't clean the room well enough, did not replace cups / coffee, no room service menu in the room (had to call and get it). Also the M Club was closed most of the trip. The M Club is only open on weekdays and only for breakfast. which is odd. That was bummer since i would loved to relax in the M Club as a platinum member as i usually do. They have a Spa but we did not have a chance to use it.

Great location! You can walk anywhere from the hotel and it’s right next to the bus stop for places further out. Brigham and Jason and all the bell staff were fantastic as well as the breakfast hostess and server Joyce in Main Sail. Pool and fitness center are great and clean. Cute little arcade area for kids.

The best part of the hotel is the staff. They are friendly and very helpful. The property reminds me of an embassy suite with a large central atrium, except it's completely empty with no apparent purpose. There is a bar with food that is open most of the day and a restaurant only open for breakfast (plus the platinum lounge which is also open only at breakfast). The room was comfortable but there is definitely a need for refurbishment. The pictures on the website definitely look better than reality.

The hotel is very nice and has a good location, close to all restaurants and shops. The Brakers are 10 minutes away! The room was clean, but small for 3 people ( king bed and a sofa). Sofa bed took a lot of space. The room was by the elevator and very noisy. The bathroom is nice with a good shower. The breakfast was delicious and staff is very friendly, but slow.. The promises are beautiful! Good customer service. Will stay again in a different room.

Clean, updated hotel. What a great stay. No complaints. Great smelling soaps in shower. Hotel staff extremely helpful, especially Jason! Valet was great too. Last time I stayed at Gurneys, which is an expensive dump compared to this place. We got a regular room and an ocean view. Ocean view is nice but in my opinion the price difference isn’t worth it. You can walk to Bowen’s wharf and all the bars/restaurants in less then 10 minutes from this hotel. I am 100% staying here next time I come to Newport.

We checked in and requested a harbor view or balcony based on our Marriott status. Instead we got a strange lobby view balcony with a wet carpet floor (probably from a prior guest coming back wet from a pool visit). The window was full of dirt, stains and cobwebs and there was a gross balcony rim with part of a candy bar or something on it. Terrible experience and no customer service.

I booked this hotel relatively late and was only able to get a room with an "interior view". The rooms are great, comfortable bed, netflix tv, fast wifi, great mini couch, good water pressure in the shower and good bath products. If the room was relocated I would definitely return. I thought the interior view, which means an entire wall of the room looks onto the atrium with no external window, wouldn't bother me that much since I was planning to spend only a little time in the hotel, but it was terrible. The noise from the atrium made sleeping difficult, I think they were setting up for a wedding or large event in the center of the atrium with noise from around 6:30 am I think. I was at a work event that involved meetings going until ~ 1 am, and I hoped to sleep until 8. I did not achieve that a single night of my stay and I'm a fantastic sleeper. Also there is no where in the hotel to sit outside and relax. I was planning to work on my computer outside at perhaps a hotel restaurant or atrium, but there were no options. There is a pool area which is a bunch of chairs looking over a parking lot. The pool is indoors so the chairs aren't next to a pool either. I'm disappointed because I really hoped to like this hotel, I have a lot of marriott points and I live close enough that I was planning a family vacation to that hotel. Honestly, I'd rather pay for a hotel with a real window regardless of location.
